Andrew and Emily have found a way to shine light onto one of the hardest parts of life, losing loved ones. I lost my sister two years ago, and have spent so much time since then full of anger and sadness, but it truly feels like this song found me when I needed it most. I’d like to think she had a hand in me finding this tonight. I miss you Kimberly, more and more as the days go by. Fly high, sister. 💚

The second she puts bow to string every fibre of my being comes alive. I get goosebumps, then I see her with child and I think that little baby is tapping his toes just waiting to be born. Tears of joy listening to these two gifted people, just what the world needs at the moment, beauty on every level.

I love the part where he says everyone can take whatever meaning they want from a song, and a song is like a feeling that can be wrapped up and passed around and shared, love that analogy!

We saw them last night in Winston Salem, NC. Great show with the Winston Salem Symphony Orchestra backing them up. Andrew and Emily are both amazingly talented. This was the third time we saw them play, looking forward to the fourth!

That's it, friend. While we mourn the loss of someone very loved, we celebrate the arrival of someone who will maintain this cycle of God. God bless them. God bless us.

Golden Embers Just like an old friend, kinder than expected That Cadillac came and gave our girl a ride Loss has no end, it binds to our connection We don't speak of it, we don't even try If you could help me to share the trouble But you've got burned and then you, then you can help me And in our time together, her memory will ever Shine like golden embers in the night I miss the old hymns when she used to sing The sparrows spread their mortal wings Now they've all lighted with the silence of strings Like notes on the pages, she breathed life into all things If you could help me to share the trouble But you've got burned and then you, then you can help me And in our time together, her memory will ever Shine like golden embers in the night Just like an old friend, reach out to me Bathe me in the light of understanding Try to help me to share the trouble But you've got burned and then you, then you can help me And in our time together, her memory will ever Shine like golden embers in the night Songwriters: Andrew Marlin

Emily & Andrew are right up there with Gillian & David which is high praise indeed. But they’re doing it their own way. One of my favorite live bands. The new 2020 touring band is top notch too. Don’t miss them and buy that wonderful new album! And yes she’s a gorgeous woman!

“I wrote this song to my Dad about my mom’s passing,” says Marlin. “I think we all try to hide our pain or frustration sometimes, for the benefit of the ones around us. ‘Golden Embers’ was my way of trying to break through some of our emotional barriers.” gardenandgun.com/articles/new-music-mandolin-orange/?fbclid=IwAR1jOxI6W7pMqkbv0EcaARxwYrmK9plisGTjFsO9Q3098T4ysYGcK7jxI7o
