Story 38 is absolutely grounds for a wrongful termination lawsuit. OP did absolutely nothing except catching their manager doing something very inappropriate. The manager should of been fired, not OP.

There was a former employee at the fast food restaurant where I used to work where she faked a pregnancy and began giving customers terrible attitude just so she can get fired. All of that was to get an employment but my GM was not stupid. The moment she pulled a no call, no show which resulted in her firing, he immediately put down 'job abandonment' which would prevent her from getting unemployment.

I’m autistic and can get like this. It’s supper common. Sometimes it just takes extra clarification/reassurance or the chance to ask more questions, etc. in order for our brains to fully process it. Obviously it depends on the person and situation, but it really can be panic inducing when it hasn’t quite “clicked” yet in the brain and you just want it to and want to make sure.

Kind of an opposite story here. With all the resume padding in this vid, it reminded me of a guy I hired because of how he padded his resume. He was straight out of college, and had never had a job in his life. Not even a part time one in high school. The position he was applying for required two years of relevant experience, and he had none, but he was also qualified for the job due to his specific degree. He padded his resume with things like “defended the Earth from 2 pirate ninja invasions” and a bunch of anime references. He’s lucky that I’m an anime fan and knew every reference he included. I thought it was hilarious, and quizzed him on a few of the things in the resume, and the guy was actually prepared with answers to all of my questions. He showed that he could think on his feet, which was what the 2 year requirement was mostly about, and he showed sufficient knowledge of the field, and the systems he would be working with. he even managed to tie those skills into the anime references in the resume. I somehow managed to keep a straight face through it all. I decided to give him a chance, because the resume and the interview were so unique, and well thought out. I had to hire him. He knew his stuff, and fit well into the team. He was our top performer when I left the company 7 years later. the video of his interview became a staple of any company parties.

Honestly, my uncle's mother died because her care home workers didn't bother to even report that she was missing after she escaped in the dead of winter, nor did they do anything when they realized she learned how to get through the security measures to keep Alzheimer's patients in, so I would not want anyone who's proven themself to be trustworthy to work in a care home with people like her.

TL;DR: not a manager, pea harvester decides that he didnt want to follow our procedures and do his own thing. I shouted at him, and he was never seen again. I wasnt a manager, but i was coordinating operations a bit. I worked in pea fields for a custom harvesting company that would harvest green peas. I drove one of the tractors that unloaded the machines. A few weeks in, and we had a bunch of “sissies” get fired for not being able to do anything but wreck their machines or show up late. This new guy, i’ll call Peter showed up. We were just finishing one field, and he seemed to be doing great. During the road move, things got a little odd. He seemed to have forgotten how to operate it. Perhaps someone was operating for him in the field. These fields are all irrigated by a centre pivot so we have to work around it. We work with the pivot tracks, in an arc. Once we started opening up the new field, thats when thimgs went really south. We split the field in half, then into quarters, then into 8ths, but the 8ths are only 2 passes wide being used for the tractors to get to the trucks faster. Once Peter was finished his opening rounds, he intended on making the already too wide half cut even wider, after we said to just lift his header and move to the center of the pivot so he can work on pivot tracks. I feel bad for this, but i ended up shouting at him on the radio, and having seen him not reacting, opened the door intending on stopping him to talk in person. Finally he got the message and did what he was supposed to. Cant remember much after that, think he still caused chaos, and my moment of rage became a bit of a joke among my work friends. Never saw him again. Think my actual boss told him that he didnt think it was right for him. Poor bloke, hope he’s doing okay these many years later.

He got a job at mcdonalds and is still there 10 years later. Hes happy and doing well.

It sounds like the person in the first story should’ve been involved with some kind of rehabilitation program that helps people with disabilities get into jobs, and those agencies would coordinate with the employer things like schedule and what not so the employee wouldn’t have to worry about any of that stuff, somebody would basically drop them off and pick them up at the end of the day for work sometimes depending on the level of supervision that is needed. They even stay with the person during the shift and assist them if they need it. It doesn’t sound like this person is capable of getting and maintaining a job on his own. It’s admirable that he still wanting to work. It’s unfortunate that this manager didnt see it for what it was and try to get him some kind of help so he could work. They often work w these agencies especially places like Walmart so you’d think they’d have a contact at least to send the man away with. I’m not sure of the mental capabilities of the wife, but it sounds like she was able true go through the process without causing interruption, so it’s unfortunate that she quit just because he was not taking on especially if they really need the financial help. In the situation with the father, dropping them off and picking them up I have to wonder if they don’t also live with him and he’s pretty much supporting all three of them of more if they had kids. He was probably very excited and relieved they got hired only to have them call a few hours in and say not 1 but both of them no longer have a job.

I heard from my manager that he had looked completely different at the interview. When they called his home the sister was very upset. Turns out he was living and sponging off her and she had actually filled out his application, dressed him and coached him on what to say and how to act during the interview. Didn't fire but these employees quit on their first day. I hired three temps to work as helpers. All they had to do was take output from a machine and put it in a box. As a result, the job required no particular skills and likewise didn’t pay well. They knew all this when they were hired. Seemed like smart guys and management made a note to see if they could be trained for other jobs. This was a big deal. Anyway, these new hire temps got talking with a senior machine operator who had been there for 15 years, did a different, much more skilled job, and got trained for a lot. Senior dude tells them what HE makes, which was a lot more than the temps got. They got angry and stormed into my office and demanded the same money or they would leave. I said no. They hadn't even worked an hour. They were not senior operators who had been there forever. They were new temps. As a result, we would not be paying more for a green no-skilled worker so they all quit. Lasted an hour. Senior machine operator smirked. He didn't want these upstart kids working with him and working harder than he did, so he told them enough to get them to quit. And it worked.

There are a lot of people out there that really don’t actually want to work. They just live on unemployment as long as possible. However, you can’t refuse to accept jobs offered to you, so they do the worst job possible to go back to unemployment until it runs out and they have to actually work.

15:00 Reminds me of how my girlfriend and I worked at Lowe's hardware. we were constantly warned that we need to log out of any terminal we use for even a second because anyone could do nefarious stuff on their account. Now I love my gf dearly, but she IS kind of an airhead, and you can guess how that goes. turns out one of her aunts works there too, and she hates me and my gf. now one day, my girlfriend is fired. I ask the store manager why and of course he's "not at liberty to discuss other employees". I ask my gf what happened and they told her that 900 dollars was missing from her tills. that's totally bullshit, I'd have noticed 900 dollars worth of anything coming through, seeing as we live together and are dirt broke. I guarantee her aunt did it to get her fired. but we've got no proof. Lowe's treats people like absolute shit anyway, so I promised store manager I would tell as many people as possible to not let any family or friends work there. Tl:Dr Girlfriend got fired from Lowe's for "stealing 900 dollars" which I guarantee was her evil aunt framing her. Don't work for Lowe's.

Used to work for Lowe's and it was shit. The managers treated my friend so disgustingly for no reason and I remember how much she cried bc of it. She finally quit and I did soon after. I personally didn't deal with the management, but the customers were buttholes. I'm obviously not a repairman or into stuff of the sort so I'm not too knowledgeable about a lot of the things they ask. But yet they get mad at me when I literally tell them I'm unsure about something. I'll ask another associate for help as they've been there longer than me. I remember a lot of people bitched to me about the service when trying to get an appliance as if the workers weren't helping out other people as it is then as they left they'd say "I'm taking my business to home Depot". Like, ok? This was last year

I absolutely HATED working at Lowes, i worked there right in the middle of Covid and was showing a lot of symptoms and i worked with a lot of elderly people so i had to call in and i got tested, came back negative but the rules were even if your test comes back negative you have to stay home for 48 hours afterwards so i followed the rules then when i came back the manager started to single me out and harass me during my breaks, i also would be the last person to get my lunch break even if i was one of the first people to show up for my shifts, so id only get it about an hour before my shift would end (i worked anywhere from an 8-10 hour shift) so needless to day i left after about a month of working there...

I can't comment whether or not Lowes is a terrible place to work. However, you cannot blame Lowes management for GF being fired. Employees were all warned to log off their terminals. GF didn't, so left herself open to being screwed over by evil Aunt. Lowes can't just ignore her till being short $900 just because you assure them GF didn't take it. GF is still responsible for the shortage because she failed to follow company policy and log out. Almost every retail place I have seen has cameras watching the tills. I cannot fathom Lowes not being able to review the security footage. GF would most likely still be fired for failure to log out, but the actual thief would probably be taken out in handcuffs.

Not how my hiring it walmart went at all in 2004. 😂 Filled out the application it might have had some questions about my personality. But the manager didn't even let me leave and just pulled me from the computer and said you're hired. Your department is shoes here's your boss. Learn the ropes from her. Boss showed me how to clock in and clock out where my locker was and how to front shoes. That's it. Then I worked my schedule as assigned. I couldn't work tue and thur, they didn't even blink and just didn't schedule me tue or thur. I quit 4 months later after my boss yelled at me for matching shoes on the "lost soles" bin. I matched 55 pairs of shoes and emptied half the bin. She was angry because now she had to price those pairs instead of sending them back to the manufacturer for a credit. None of them were clearance and they were all in season. I was proud of myself. Nobody goes to shoes at 8 am on a Monday. Heck, I had spent half that morning in fabric cutting fabric that I was never trained to do but already sewed a bunch and knew the steps from being a costumer. Nobody looks for a worker in Walmart shoes. End rant of my second worst job. 😂

Call my boss and kick off the investigation into it. Boss suspected something but couldn’t say anything. I was happy to help but distraught I was the first to catch it, and had to keep quiet until corporate delved further. $500 is instant federal charges (found out from another theft) and boss said the safe was off about $5K at that point. Why do I say that? Because i caught that on Friday and corporate didn’t get back to boss till 🙄Monday; yeah he worked over the weekend….. I go back to work in a few hours to hear the fallout… I hoped I was wrong, but given my boss’s reaction and her lack of call back, I seriously doubt it.

I then also mentioned how I'd be more than happy to put my drink of choice into a Coke branded water bottle if they would provide me one. I'm trying to get into my own housing to become more independent but here in Texas I heard it's hard to get disability especially for mental disorders. He had one of the female employees with him so I am thinking "WTF happened?" He asked if he could ask me a personal question.... Never bothers me... if you don't ask questions how do you learn..... So he said along the lines of "When we were doing the paperwork I asked about hot chicks in the store, you said to ask the other guys..." I said "Yeah" "Is that because you are gay?" I said "Yeah, Wait was the memo not in your transfer packet? " His jaw dropped and the female employee (who already knew) was trying not to laugh.....

11:00 Anyone excited to get unemployment outside of the pandemic era probably hasn't gotten it before. Your unemployment compensation is based off of the first 18 of the last 24 months (so it's better to be leaving a low paying job after a high paying job than a high paying job off a low paying job) with a HARD CAP in the neighborhood of $300 per week (each state is in a different part of this neighborhood, but I don't think any get far over $600). Then if you're in a more civilized state you get unemployment if didn't quit or get fired for cause. In states that are less sympathetic to the unemployed, you only get unemployment if you are fired ILLEGALLY and then getting to receive the unemployment benefits that you earned and paid premiums for is an added bonus. Even in middle of the road states, making any statement about potentially collecting unemployment before your termination is finalized, printed out, etched in stone and recorded at the local courthouse would be something an employer could report to support a "for cause" claim to deny you unemployment and earn the employer a refund on your UI premiums. In my state, anything said by the employer is automatically assumed to be factually true so unless they blurt out some kind of illegality or confession that your claim is valid, you get denied. On top of all this, if you do qualify, you survive your waiting week and begin receiving unemployment you will be cold called by your states UI department to be asked about all of these details again with leading questions to disqualify you like "Why were you fired?" or "Who fired you?" or "Why did you quit?" (I'm using these examples because in my case I was laid off after my company successfully completed the project I was hired for and they claimed to be reading from paperwork where I indicated that) and to flat out accuse you of lying about your job contacts. Again, the call isn't some courtesy to warn you they're going to validly deny you; it's a strategy to get people who have lied to confess. I don't know if they do this to a sample or to every single claimant, but I suspect the latter. It's a lot more work than earning that money in 25 hours of minimum wage employment.

  • @rolandhansen812

    @rolandhansen812

    9 ай бұрын

I don't know where you live but NONE of that is true in my state. Where I live unemployment is based off your last 4 quarters of earnings (so the last 52 weeks). When I was last laid off, I got $885 a week and that was after federal and state taxes were withheld, and I was not at the top of the scale (having taxes withheld is optional and voluntary). Employees do NOT pay anything toward unemployment insurance, that is 100% paid for by the company. Companies never get a refund of unused UI premiums. They may qualify for a lower rate the next year if their claims were a certain percentage below their premiums. Mentioning collecting unemployment will NEVER disqualify you from collecting. The unemployment office will never call the employee and ask leading questions to try to get their benefits denied. They are more interested in helping you find another job than trying to deny you benefits. In some cases, an employee can qualify for unemployment even if they quit. It isn't easy but you need to show a legitimate reason for quitting. You ARE required to show you are actually looking for a job in order to keep collecting. Each week you are claiming benefits you have to enter at least three places you applied to and what the results were. After some weeks you will be required to go into one of the offices and present your job search logs and show evidence that you actually applied for work.

I remember this one massive pain in the ass at my old job at this busy restaurant. He was new, and at first, he was a dishwasher. Good, because we really need one. Man has these weird ass tendencies too. Like before walking around a corner, he'll hide behind it and peek over it like he's Solid Snake or some shit. Eh, that's fine. But where my patience ran out was when I had to train him for pantry since I was the only pantry cook in the entire restaurant, and I had a day off the following day. He makes his salads relatively okay, if not a bit slow. But that slowness was nothing compared to how he prepared ice cream dishes. This motherfucker would spend, I kid you not, 5 whole minutes scooping up a SINGLE scoop of ice cream. He would do this weird thing where he would scoop some ice cream up, then proceed to fondle it with his hand. I asked him what the hell he was doing, and he said he was trying to get the air bubbles out. I told him he can do that by pressing the ice cream down into the bowl. Mind you I tried to make this as simple as possible for him, even showing him exactly how to do it. He didn't wanna listen. He kept taking forever to scoop ice cream, and by the time he got done with only a couple, the ice cream was all melted. And if that weren't bad enough, as he's running pantry the next day, he decides to eat some bread that was just prepared. Not a horrible thing to do, but not a good idea to do when customers constantly walk past the open doors of our kitchen. A manager politely lets him know about the proper policies if you want to eat on the clock, and this fucker just fucking leaves; as in he quit permanently. I was pissed at this for a while because I honestly felt insulted. Not only did he not listen to a single thing I taught him, but he also throws all that time I wasted training him out the window. I later told my friends about him, and they suspect that he's a sociopath.
