Tool really is rare in mainstream. I mean that kind of jam band that can be so off melodic but still keep its composure ya know. I mean only thing I can recall being as popular and powerful is like what Pink Floyd. Not to mention tool is metal more so so even crazier it had the mainstream success it does. Not to mention Danny is a fucking savage drummer.

Tool are the modern day masters of progressions. They are doing today what Led Zeppelin did back in the 60's and 70's. Great reaction to a great band. Keep them coming. Maybe try Vicarious or Right in Two.

  • @GatriotPames

Late to the party, but as a heads up... At the beginning of the song the "drums" you hear is actually a heartbeat. Slowly the drums mix with that heartbeat. The "Blast" of the guitar after the growth of the heartbeat/beat is meant to represent birth. The rest of the song follows the same thematic elements of Birth, Growth, Ascendance, and Transcendence... The Fibonacci Sequence is also know by the moniker "The Golden Ratio" and for good reason.... This ratio determines how many living things grow. The most easily understandable example is the Nautilus Shell, but many things grow based off of that ratio, including plants. Thematically it makes perfect sense, and is a genius move to use that ratio in creating the music and lyrics. A perfect and literal example of the phrase "art imitating life". Welcome to Tool. Keep going.

Tool passed me by as I was having my kids when they hit - for some reason I thought they were a death metal band then I saw the video of them at download 2019 and I bought the albums. I listened to the 4 albums once and thought they were average except for lateralus. 4 month later I listen to tool on my way into work, on my way home from work, when I walk my dogs when I mow my lawn. When I relax I watch tool live and reaction videos. My wife has gone from moaning about me watching sport to watching tool. When you have 4 genius musicians who care what every single note of their music sounds like and take time over it thus is what it is possible to achieve

They’re all very deep. I’ve been listening to them for about twenty years now and still listen to them on a daily basis. Most pop and country music just makes me shake my head in disappointment. Sat Nam Mana 🙏🤘, legendary song - love your reaction, will definitely explore your channel. Oftopic, a lot of metalheads are following that New age stuff to wear rings around index finger or thumb. Our feet and hands are very senstive and without knowing certain things one should not wear metal rings around fingers - particularly index finger and thumb, it will atract certain energies which you will not be able to handle - long term it will impair your body & mind wellbeing, as well as the development of the consciousness. Just a friendly advice, take care 🙏

I second the others requesting Parabol/Parabola and 46&2. Do a search for the song meanings, including Lateralus; the lyrics are as deep as the Mariana Trench! Did you get the link between the syllable sequence in the first verse and the 'spiral out' at the end? It's all about the Fibonacci Sequence. There's also a link between the colours in the lyrics with alchemy and the order they occur is (supposedly) how we develop vision as newborns. I said deep...yeah, that deep! Loving your channel by the way. You've got a great appreciation for the complexities of great music.

Lateralus was a very good start, but some other choices are too advanced and much harder to appreciate at first. Forty Six & 2, Sober, Schism, H, Vicarious, Jambi & AEnima are the essentials. After those you should listen to the much more complex songs like Third Eye. Lateralus is about life, starting at birth, and growing and learning throughout your life. Black then white is what I see. That's birth and what a baby first sees, only in black & white, but then other colors you come to see! 'In my infancy' Enjoy!

Great song about phases of being. Stages of growth so to speak. Bottom line is, keep seeing things as a child and how they experience new. Moving on without losing the colors and stages of each. My understanding of this song is in its infancy. help Lol

You should really look what the lyrics (and even rhythm's tempo). It'll blow your mind.
