Mana Pools & Lake Kariba - Travel Zimbabwe
In this Video Hardus gets invited by Petri for a trip to Mana Pools & Lake Kariba, Zimbabwe with a couple of mates. They travel from Pretoria through Botswana and then Zimbabwe to finally get to the north where these two amazing places are situated. They spend 7 nights at Gwaya Camp in Mana Pools and then move to Chitake Springs Campsite which is as rugged as it comes in the middle of the bush with Lions and Elephants surrounding them. In this video they show you the road to Mana Pools and some interesting sleep over spots as well as to where you must check in for Mana Pools. They then travel west to the awesome Lake Kariba where they spend 3 nights on a houseboat on the Lake and catch some Tigerfish.
Enjoy!!

You are welcome to visit, plan your trip
My father took us on many road trips all over Zimbabwe- of course we took it all for granted. Now, after living in the US for +18 years those trips are precious memories. No trip I have taken in the US can compare.

You can say that again hey, I miss those raw sites we always took for granted.
Loved every minute of this....so many highlights throughout but the best part was that you had nothing negative to say. What a special part of a special country. Chitake, the wild camp you stayed at, is a Batonka word used to describe a "stop-over" that these original inhabitants would aim for when travelling / trading between the people north of the Zambezi, and the people who lived up and over the escarpment to the south. Chitake is the only place in the region that has water (from the spring), throughout the year and can be clearly seen from the top of the escarpment for nine months of the year because of all the greenery. Essentially it was a beacon for these people when they were returning to their homes on the Zambezi. The Batonka people were the first to successfully trade across the regions north and south of the Zambezi between what is now Zambia and Zimbabwe.

If you arrive at the marongora permit office too late in the day to gain entry into mana pools, there is a decent campsite behind the office. They let us camp there after we arrived when it was dark. It is a decent campsite with clean toilets and showers, but you have to bring your own tents as there are no rooms.
Great Video Footage ! Excellent Animal shots ! Brilliant Narrative ! Great Job !
This is so beautiful! The video , narration and everything I felt as if I was part of the trip. Keep it up lads! Cheers

That looks like such an awesome camping trip!!! Wow lake Kariba was huge!!! When I saw the dead trees in the water, I thought it was some swampy little lake. Then you showed the rest of it!!! Pre-covid fun...
Great video guys - I used to go down to Mana Pools sixty one (61) years ago (early sixties) with my Dad on an annual shooting trip to make biltong for three families for the whole year. My Dad and the two Ooms from the other two families would also get a elephant, each which would pay for the concession and two weeks on camp. There were very few roads and we had lions and hyena in the camp every night as there was a lot of meat and blood form making biltong - brought back memories but I did not remember any of the places you showed on your video. One thing we used to do was shoot fish in the pools with shotguns - the pools were drying up and we would have fried bream almost every night together with impala and buffalo. Well done - many memories brought back to me - Baaie Danke.
BY FAR THE BEST 28 MINUTES ON YT. Well done guys. Your attitude was/is great. Maybe better than the scenery and that was spectacular. Loved you guys. Stuff of legends. The ONLY negative is I was seriously bummed when the video came to an end. Would gladly have watched another hour.

Incredible stuff. I love Zim
I prefer driving down the Escarpment from the Binga - Karoi road to Tashinga and enjoy Kariba in Matusadonna
Thank you for this positive well edited video without bias and negativity. This is what holidaying is about. Enjoying yourself... Thanks again.
This is beautiful ❣️, am so happy to see Marongora on that video. I grew up there for 15 years and later moved to Kariba where I currently live now, am happy too to see my home town Kariba❤️
We didn't get to Mana Pools, but did the Okavango Delta, then flew to Kasane, did Chobe, crossed over Kazangula into Zambia, did Vic falls from the Livingstone side, then across into Zim up to Binga where we boarded the Catalina, a 100' catamaran and spent 5 days exploring Kariba, got some great Tiger fishing in and then back to Livingstone. Great trip, that was 10 years ago now, but what an experience. Bucket list item for sure
...just wonder what ti must look like now with so much rain.....Wow
Ek weet waantoe ek gaan gaan as die grense eendag oop maak. Baie mooi video. Daai laaste kamp plek is darem ongelooflik mooi.
Well done! Spent many weeks there in the early 60’s without anyone else. Just a track from the main road turnoff took about 3 hrs to get there. Loads of wildlife. Lovely to revisit through your cameras.

A tourism student? How does that work exactly? They offer a training course at your job you mean right? I really hope the world hasnt come to a place where one would be convinced this entails skill and something of value that also would need to be taught by someone educated in the "field"? How desperately sad. Listen it can easily be summed up simply. Most tourists are idiots and already are by nature before putting themselves in a situation where they dont pack a single brain cell and leave all common sense at home. Some ofthem are prepared to be hustled and lied too and taken advantage of for every penny they brought with them, one of these types thinks theyre too smart for a hustler and the other has the money to not even care and actually do every stupd thing that will increase the likely hood. The former will get taken for every penny quickly and will have to return home early. And they deserve it because while there they disrespected every woman child animal and destroyed nature and took for granted and took advantage of the culture beauty and value of where they were. The latter tourist will also destroy the peace of animals and nature and likely but to a lesser extent the people and their culture by acting like mor0ns clicking their stupid cameras and scaring off animals or right in local peoples faces disrespecting personal space and asking stupid questions. Both will leave where ever they were in a worse space than when they arrived but they will have left all their money toooooo the cheats liars hustlers thieving locals that no matter how seemingly innocent mocked the tourist that just paid them more for some upcycled garbage worth pennies but was more than theyve made in a month. The whole thing is like a drug deal on the corner between strangers. no need to degrade yourself by letting someone call it school and help them get thousands-millions of aid or government funds to teach you how to point out what something is to someone that youre going to hustler their money from 🙁 This is as bad as when they made hotel work a an academic thing but that was a 100% government - big business deal to produce well trained slaves. thats what our government does and all your governments thinks ours is some kind of role model. Wonderful. All while we help aid Big Business and Government destroy the earth and the freedom of its inhabitants and the health of every living thing. What could possibly be next. This is sick and so desperately sad.
Nice video - absolutely amazing encounters with elephants in Mana Pools N. P. Thanks for sharing 👍🏾
