Man With Spinal Cord Injury Runs Again
In 2011, Gert-Jan Oskam was living and working in China when he had a serious cycling accident. Doctors told him he would never walk again... His goal for May 3, 2020 is to walk 250 yards.

Clickbait title. Man doesn’t run but manages to accomplish some walking which is amazing in itself!
You are a very tough man
Congratulations to you I would be just as happy to get the pain in my legs to stop seems you figured something out I'm so glad for you.
You are an inspiration to many able bodied persons !
Praying for more recovery.

I am an outsider to science, but I'd assume based on my k-12 education that part of the reason they have such poor control and struggle to recover is that likely the nervous system forgets how to move and must be retaught. If they could get an implant into someone immediately after injury my guess is that they will have little recovery to do in comparison. It's just a hypothesis though, would love to see an actual scientist test it.
Misleading title. "man with spinal cord injury runs again".
Edit: didn’t know it was click bait lol but great job with recovery. I was paralyzed t-12 almost 4 years ago. I can run but only for like 7-10 seconds before I get tired an gotta stop an walk. Every ones different
When did you suffer a spinal injury?
Same condition bro but u r lucky to walk but m not walk right now since last 4 year but lot of sensation in my body .. And m doing exercise hope one day ill walk
Can someone tell me please what is the name of the surgary when they add a chip?
I really hope to get a chip, hope someone can sponsor me a chip
Warning ⚠️
I'm T12 spi for five years. I keep trying to move my legs but not happened yet
That is sorry. And I thought naively that he was really running. Anyway keep going Gert-Jan from Holland. I am also learning to walk as a tetraplegic, but without a chip.
I m handicapped from 6 years, I m spine patient, how I walk again , my injury T10, T11
The only advice I can give this guy is Spend your life looking after his Spine straightness & posture ! He is what is called an Incomplete Quadriplegic Like myself of 50 yrs incomplete quad ! He wont run again he will only wear his shoulder joints out due to the forces generated lifting himself up and pushing his chair ! Another thing ! use a electric chair on long trips , His thoughts of becoming normal again will disappear over time as he should spend time on the above and stop be spired on by people thinking crap There not disabled and haven't a clue and usually only their for the money generated Good Luck in life oh and look after your Kidneys is a must
