We had a baby that lost his mom in a storm. Was the sweetest little guy. Loved him so much!

Me too..the fact the baby was on the grass crying in the middle of the day says all it needs to. He wanted his Mom.. Most likely , every day since he’s been born he sleeps under his mom throughout the day… something must’ve happened to her that she did not come get him in the middle of the night for those first two nights.. unless he wasn’t crying but I’m sure he would have. That’s probably all he did when he was awake…. I hate seeing animals in distress .. it’s heartbreaking.

Thank you for saving him, he was probably terrified, exhausted, and starving, along with confused. Thank you for calling your friend to take him in. God bless you all.

Very true, it's a heartbreak for his poor Momma too. I hope she at least has another baby to heal her heart. And no, I'm not projecting human emotions onto animals, before someone accuses me - animal mothers absolutely do feel the same kind of pain we would, on losing a child. They love their babies and grieve for them, just as we do, it's arrogant to think otherwise.

Absolutely proof, a dear friend rescued 1 . It took her just over a year to grieve her baby. They kept her a few years until she was ready to be wild again

@@bressart464 Thank you. Humans can be so dumb (and arrogant), assuming animals don't feel the same, profound emotions humans do. Of course a mama raccoon who loses the baby she birthed, nurtured, protected and fed (she would die for it - that's the maternal bond), grieves and suffers greatly at its loss. That emotional pain is worse than losing a limb!

Another example A wildlife photographer friend witnessed an eagle devour a squirrel. She was sitting quietly waiting fir any shot for the day & heard whimpering. Then noticed the squirrel's mate off , not to far from where she was sitting, in her den crying, absolutely devastated. My friend told me she sat there with her and that after an hour the little squirrel looked up at her. Held eye contact and then went into her den. Fascinating, endearing & amazing because you can't be angry at the eagle. Therefore no ethics in nature. I suppose it's a gift when we can help. Sometimes we cannot. I hv been to Galapagos & strict rules not to interfere with the ecosystem Only observe!

She took no photos of the widowed squirrel only sat with her in support.

They actually make great pets. My dad rescued 3 babies out of a chimney since the mother abandoned them and the home owners needed them out. We hand raised and fed them. It was an awesome experience that I’ll never forget.

Thank you so much. That beautiful baby was way too young to be on his own. Raccoons are amazingly smart and make the best OUTDOOR pets if you happen to live in the country. They truly are wonderful creatures.

That’s how I got my two cats. They lost their mom and we’re only a few days old. I kept saying “she’ll come back” but she never did. Their eyes weren’t even open yet. So I took them in and bottle fed them, bathed them regularly so they weren’t scared of water, taught them how to use the litter box, made them a bed in a small box with a warm blanket and a stuffed animal as a “surrogate mom” to lay against and when their eyes opened they knew I was their dad. I’ve had them almost 4 years now.

You are an angel saving this poor little thing and getting him a new home!

Poor little guy. He was scared and alone and hungry. He's definitely young enough to still need his mom. So glad he was taken somewhere safe to grow up. 🦝💚

for those curious : raccoons can make wonderful family members , they are as intelligent as dogs and often even more curious ; they are quite a bit of work/responsibility however and not all vets are qualified to help you and/or provide medicine/vaccines for rabies/etc , so be aware

Wild animals will try to save their kids but after a certain point you have to realize the baby was forgotten, its heart breaking but getting him to a caregiver of any kind was the best thing to do

They don't have to stop they didn't hit the animal. The psychopath are the ones that well stab an animal when someone walking their pet in a park the normal ones are the ones that don't.
