Heartwarming Rescue: Orphaned Baby Raccoons Find a New Family | Part 1

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

In the natural world, raccoon mothers are known for their unwavering dedication and care for their young. However, there are times when tragedy strikes, and a mother raccoon is unable to return to her den due to unfortunate circumstances.
Whether it be a tragic encounter with a vehicle on busy roads or getting illegally trapped by a homeowner or another company, these situations can separate a mother raccoon from her helpless offspring, leaving them vulnerable and in need of urgent assistance.
Witness the heartwarming moments as Gates Wildlife expertly introduced the orphaned raccoons to a caring and nurturing family of raccoons who opened their hearts and embraced the newcomers as their own.
Through careful monitoring and guidance, the Gates Wildlife team ensured a smooth integration, allowing the baby raccoons to be accepted by their new mother and thrive in their environment.
Join us on this captivating journey filled with adorable antics, as these tiny raccoons adapt to their new family dynamics, forge strong bonds, and become a part of a loving raccoon community.

Ontario and all other provinces have strict laws protecting racoons, as well as other wildlife, and in urban areas. Almost everyone is in agreement that they are not to be mistreated by anyone. Most folks are quite fond of them. It's almost an unspoken agreement that we can try to secure our garbage containers from them (good luck with that challenge) but most view cleaning up the mess afterwards the same way they do shovelling snow: it's a part of being a Canadian. I would not be surprised if it was a part of the new citizen initiation process. People keep a close eye on those they suspect will try to save money by doing anything awful to them. Removing them from ones home is not awfulness. My father used to curse the damage and mess they made to our housein the 60s and 70s but whenever we had Kentucky Fried Chicken for dinner you know who enjoyed the leftovers. so, this is not a recent development.Ted Nugent (google and be horrified) on the other hand, has a large rural property but gets off on killing them with firearms. Thankfully, he does not represent most Americans.

They are little gentlemen and women. I for a while fed the ones in my backyard in the past and they always came over to the glass and gently tapped the glass and taught their little ones the same thing. They never seemed to get upset when there wasn't food and were very polite they also knew to be wary and never completely trust us which was very good. The squirrels on the other hand were very impolite and ripped the screen door when they didn't get food fast enough.

I feel the same compassion for raccoons as you do and had much the same experience going back to 1970 having adopted a stray raccoon after an extermination agency had shot the mother and thrown the babies out into the street up the street from us. (This was Don Mills {Toronto} ) Ontario. I had 3 more raccoons during the '70s releasing them up on a farm in Grey County Ont. Until finally, after I had left Canada in 1983 to live in Brittany France. But in 2004 during a language exchange in Kassel Germany, I learnt that there were hundreds of thousands of "Waschbären" in that city. Joseph Göbbels went to Florida in 1934 to bring back 2 matng couples to Kassel Germany. During the war all the fur farm raccoons escaped. Now there are millions even in Berlin. So, I brought back one raccoon in 2004 with my children and brought up this raccoon in a semi village countryside milieu. My favorite creature after Wolverines or Wolves and Coyotes.

I first met Mama when she showed up to clean up after the birds, and squirrels, had fed on cracked corn. She had a yearling male and 3(turned out to be female) babies and a small baby possum that she had adopted. They came every day for 4 years. The babies had their own babies, and the possum still came nightly(he got big). I had a huge armadillo come by while I was feeding the raccoons that just walked up like he'd heard I was cool, but he didn't like the biscuits. He did let me pat on his back alittle before he saundered off. About the third year, she brought a female kitten that I started feeding...I've still got her son, the entire first litter, and his son and daughter, all fixed. The raccoons started eating better food I'd leave out and drinking from a dripfed water wash tub. I began buying medium-sized dog biscuits that they would all line up to take one at a time. I had 18 babies one season around my feet waiting on their treats. I've got photos and a few videos...some of Buddy the oldest male that could open my screen and come stand by my chair requesting his special treats...I'd put peanut butter on his dog treats or give him grapes that he'd throw his head back and eat immediately. The cats would play with the baby raccoons and learned how to climb trees chasing the little raccoons... They got so frustrated that they couldn't climb down like the raccoons.

I had a female crippled raccoon that I fed for 11 years. She would bring her babies over to eat cat food and peanut butter sandwiches. On occasion, I would give mama some grapes and bananas. Not sure how she got crippled. Her back leg or maybe her hip was really bad. She never went far from my house. She would wait for me to come out and feed her. Unfortunately, she passed away December 27th, 2023 in my neighbors garage. I never knew what I connection I had with her until she passed away. I miss her everyday.

I don't comment much, I do like every video though, and have been watching these episodes since you first started putting them on. This is one of the best videos I have seen you put out. Along with the baby foxes under the porch with the mother coming back for each one in the box, and of course almost destroying a bathroom, with owners permission, to get the baby raccoons out of the wall. I loved the short story of how you got started in saving/protecting the raccoons-I love them as well-any wildlife for that matter. Raccoons are wonderful mothers and this one taking on the foster babies was beautiful. I know they will do that, but seeing it has a really good feeling to watch it. You must feel great doing what you do. Thank you both, from the US.

Raising a Baby Raccoon as a Teeenager would explain why you love Raccoons as much as I do. I can watch the Raccoon videos all day. There are plenty of them on this channel for me not to run out of videos to watch. I seen 1 video where you found a Raccoon in someones wall that had starved to death. That is a painful death. Too bad the lady didn't call it in long before it starved to death.

The speed and utter lack of hesitation to grab the unknown baby proves animals are better than people.

Dang cute! We sadly don't have them here in Norway. Girl reminds me of Lizzie on Matt's Off Road Recovery channel 🙂

I just love these little furballs and am so flad the new mom excepted them. I do love having wild pet raccoons as well, they are one of the perks of my job and make the shift enjoyable, I have a few that will even play chase the laser dot.
