I'm a big fan of both MCU and DCEU so I understand why some people who are used to Marvel's geeky and funny films would hate Man of Steel which is a take on a more grounded, realistic and darker Superman

    @@kimok4716 yeah. Marvel’s movies are good, but the humors can get repetitive through time. I mean, I know a lot of people who followed MCU from the beginning and started to get bored of the formula. I, myself, started to feel less interested after Endgame. That’s why I started to watch DCEU because while making movies about superheroes, its formula is different and much more darker compares to MCU

    I’ll be honest. This was my introduction to General Zod as a character. I have heard his name before, but I haven’t seen him before, nor did I know what his intentions were. When I saw this movie, it really made me feel bad for Zod. The poor General just wanted his people restored, even if it meant the extinction of the human race. But it wasn’t really his fault, it was what he was engineered to do, literally made to protect Krypton at all cost. I think he’s a great villain character

    That's why Superman cried when killing him. It was a hard decision but he was strong to make it. People don't understand this. Writers always try to put heroes in position where there is always a way out without killing but this kind of writing defeats purpose of no killing rule and morals. If you want your hero to have morals you have to test them. Many comic book lovers don't understand this. Same goes with BVS.

    I always feel like I'm alone in this opinion. The DCEU gets panned regularly, so I think I got it in my head that no one feels as strongly about it as I do. I think I mostly prefer it to the MCU. @@MetalNerdMedia Personally, I prefer the MCU quite a decent bit overall, but Man of Steel is definitely overhated. It's easily my favorite DCEU film and would've been a great start to a Superman franchise if DC didn't try so hard to catch up to the MCU and cram everything into BvS. Honestly, I kinda look at Man of Steel as separate from the rest of the DCEU (even though I can still enjoy every DCEU movie) since it doesn't feel like it was intended to set up a whole universe.

    Somebody else in the comments pointed out the artillery fire in the percussion. I never noticed that until they pointed it out, and I watched this flick about a hundred times so far. (So thanks for that, Zirkalda) Something I have noticed, is that famous locomotive. Particularly evident in "I Will Find Him", "Arcade", and "General Zod", I'm not even a hundred percent sure if that's a real locomotive overlaid into the soundtrack or if the drums and horn are just that evocative. Of course, if you noticed it before I told you, you know which exact locomotive it is referring to. I realized this when watching the Smallville fight, where it shows (if not in this exact order) that Kryptonians are faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, and able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. Yeah, the soundtrack locomotive is "that one Superman is more powerful than." Good thing, too. It's not just a reference to the classic powerset, it's characterization for Zod. Those other Kryptonians, those poor pitiable and terrifying space bastards, they don't have free will. Their fate is set at birth, if they're born soldiers they die soldiers. Only Superman could do anything he wanted, the others are stuck on their paths like trains on a track. So General Zod is a big scary space train roaring down a track that ends at poor little defenseless Terra.

    Michael Shannon is one of my favorite actors, this being the first real movie I paid attention to with him in it. Now if there's anything featuring him, I will make sure to see it in theatres. I have said it before and will say it again, The opening 8 to 10 minutes of Man of Steel is one of the best introductions to a series of characters and the plight they are facing, instantly grabbing the audience and making them care for what's happening on screen. One of the better movies made, and certainly one of the best superhero movies.

  • @betofernandez5524

    @betofernandez5524

    5 жыл бұрын

    Exterminar o conquistar a otra raza, especie, planeta,... para tu prevalencia, es el egoismo más visceral que existe. Nace de nuestros instintos. En este caso de supervivencia. Zod podía convivir con la raza humana, no necesitaba exterminarla para reconstruir Crypton. Elige la segunda opción (aunque realmente no tiene el control de sus decisiones). De ahí que sea un villano. Es un villano con motivaciones, en su mente lícitas y heróicas, pero crueles y egoistas en realidad. Superman es el héroe que decide proteger a los inicentes; Sí, sabemos que la humanidad puede ser escoria, que podemos hacer todas esas aberraciones que haría Zod de estar en su posición, pero aquí la raza humana es un simple espectador indefenso ante una invasión de la que no tiene culpa... La CLAVE de la película y de cómo Snyder presenta Crypton, y al mismo tiempo de la empatía que despierta Zod, es que está programado para eso. Es decir, no es malvado en sí mismo, pero sus actos sí lo son. Así que no se trata de si sus actos son heroicos en función de cómo lo quieras ver (que no lo son en ningún caso). Se trata de que nació para hacer eso, y Superman nació para elegir qué quería ser. Y precisamente lo más heroico de este Superman es que decide hacer el bien por que es bueno, no por que haya nacido para ello. El elige ese camino a pesar de no verse recompensado, ni querido, ni respetado muchas veces. Es un enfoque perfecto para ambos personajes. Un villano con una motivación total y amenazante, pero que no es producto de su maldad (fuerte motivación + empatía del publico). Y un héroe que está enfocado como un extraño, un inmigrante, con poder para decidir el destino de la humanidad, y que tiene profundos sentimientos y contradicciones (aquí parte del público no conectó con esta visión del personaje, fruto en mi opinión de la imagen perfecta del Superman clásico, y que como personaje tiene mucha menos riqueza y complejidad).

    zod wasn't a bad-guy and you cant deny it......... he wanted to make another krypton for the sake of their race, if our planet were to blow up, then the last few of us would travel to a different world, then turn it into our own, to re-biuld humanity but of course, we wouldn't say that we were villains, we would be no different from zod to zod superman was the bad-guy, which is why he attacked superman. Superman cared less about his race, and would protect an alien species over the species of his own, if someone on earth were to do that, we would fight them to protect mankind, so if you say that general zod was a villain, your no different
