I don’t know the family that took these two dogs but I do know they are salt of the earth and an excellent example for humanity 👍

Loneliness must feel terrible for shelter animals, so this young pit bull and old chihuahua coming to love and depend upon each other, was nothing short of lifesaving! What a blessing that their adoptive family knew that their bond must be nurtured.

I just adopted a three year old female bully and she was pregnant when picked up or dropped off at the shelter. She was there for Several months, gave birth and was fixed so many stressful things in those three months. She doesn't want to be left alone and having trouble leaving her alone but it's 💯 worth it and getting better and better but been thinking about getting her a friend to help

Aren’t us humans so lucky and blessed to have the love and loyalty of a dog?

I had two dogs Keisha and Katie they were never separated until Keisha passed Katie never recovered and she passed not long after, they loved each other just as I loved and miss them

It’s horrible that people treat dogs like they’re clueless animals. They show more love and compassion than a lot of people do. The man who adopted these cuties is definitely a hero. Their bond is just precious.

They show more kindness and compassion than humans, because they don't have the cognitive fees will to choose to be anything other than what they're trained to be. An untrained wild dog will likely bite you if you try to stroke it, where as a trained one that's lived with a family will likely show you love. A human on the other hand, regardless of how their raised, can pick choose and choose wether to be kind or horrible at the flick of a switch. Because we have unlimited cognitive free will. It's nothing to do with dogs being kinder, it's simply they are limited to only express themselves based on their environment. In other words, you'll never find a dog that's been trained and surrounded by a loving family, act out viciously unprovoked. Where as a human can have the best upbringing and love around them, and still turn out to be a serial killer. It's called free will.

The two dogs undoubtedly had made a pact at some point that they'd stay together. Bless the little souls.

I recently lost my mother and in her will she had put to not send her senior shitzu to the pound. that to please keep her in the family i have two dogs of my own but it was my moms request to keep her dog in the family. so that’s just what I did I didn’t realize how much i needed her dog until she was gone ❤

I always adopt rescues and so do my girls. 7 years ago i got the two who were next up for execution and I adopted another one on her last day to live2 years ago. They know! And they show you the best love you'll ever have. I'm 70 I hope I make it to 100 just to love my family and rescue more sweet pups.

THESE two had been THROUGH alot ! They needed each other! The bigger dog was looking out for his LITTLE BUDDIE! 💜💙💕🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏💕💙💜they were adopted TOGETHER! Thank u to the people who loved and kept them together!

What is truly wonderful is the man who wanted Meryl, but decided not to take her away from her best friend, and the shelter for making sure they stayed together. Beautiful.

Vigdis Joline Sweden seems to always be ahead of the world when it comes to social problems. At least as an American that’s what I have been taught. I heard that Sweden is so ahead that they are changing it so that their homeless people (i’m surprised they even have homeless) are being fitted with Debit type cards to make donating to them easier in a world that’s changing to cashless. How cool is that? Not to mention Sweden leads the world in not making men and women fulfill old fashion gender roles. It’s normal for men to stay home with the kids too. I could go on. You should be so proud of Sweden’s reputation.

We adopted two dogs who were very attached to each other as well. We were fortunate since other people were only willing and able to adopt one of them. The two dogs had an amazing bond. It was wonderful! They lived very happily with each other and with us!

What a wonderful story! I love their devotion to each other, and the kindness of the family who took them in.

The family who adopted these two and took on all the medical bills are what makes this world worth living in as do those two best friends🌸

We were able to take our dogs to be treated by a veterinarian who is a cardiologist. Medication gave them another year of happy life!

This video raised my standards for a best friend. If we can't be like merill and taco then we can't be best friends. Loved this story.

I beg to differ. There was a pitbull who lived with his family all of its life. They had a baby girl, the pit loved her very much. When the little girl was around 3 to 5 yrs old. She went to her neighbour's to play with another little girl. Now they also had a dog. Anyway when her grandma brought the little girl home. Her pitbull came running all excited to see his little girl. But then something happened. He smelled another dog on the little girls clothing, and literally mauld the child until he killed her. The grandmother could not get the pit off her granddaughter. You see pits are great at loving and protecting their children, but they are also very unpredictable. Some goes all their lives without harming kids. But they are also very protective unto death if necessary. This pit could not predict that this little girl was real and the smell was not. He only felt, " i must get this other dog out or kill it"". Not truly knowing it was the little girl. Because they go on smell and instinct. Most family dogs are also kind to other dogs. Not wanting to kill it, but to become friends. Therfore not all breeds are unpredictable as a pit are. Don't get me wrong, i like pits also. But i never had one around my children. It's just to dangerously unpredictable. People should never had made the pitbull breed. They were made to kill bores. Now Rottweilers i think it's the most dangerous dog ever made. I'd have a pit before a Rottweiler any day!! They are famous for killing kids.

@Jkong Hong I'm not assuming anything and i know good training helps. But your a fool to think pits well never harm any child. Just because yours hasn't don't mean none will. Even with proper training. I've been around a lot longer then you. I've seen much more then you. Unless your 62 yrs old. And seen what I've seen, you have no clue what a pitbull can do. Again even with proper training. Yes they are very unpredictable.

The first man did a very good and selfless choice by not taking Merrill alone.

We wanted a dog and ended up adopting a bonded pair of chihuahuas and I can’t imagine them apart. They got each other through the worst of times and I have never regretted it for a second.

Update: Taco passed away in 2018 :( but merrill is dealing with it and she's doing great!

I would’ve taken both in a heartbeat. I currently have a rescued senior pit & rescued senior chihuahua. Have been best of friends, totally inseparable for many years now. Wish more shelters would at least try adopting bonded pups out together, before immediately putting them up separately. My pups would die if separated, too bonded & too old to be split up, so I so appreciate the people that did care for these 2!

A beautiful story!

I had a neighbor who had two pitbulls and a chihuahua named Gigi. He told us the pits had raised her from a pup. They got along wonderfully but Gigi was definitely more aggressive than the aggressive female pit. The male pit whose name was Tank was large but as mellow as the month of May. My neighbor passed away and his relatives took the dogs, I hope they are still together.

It is great to see how many wonderful people there are in this world. As a Vet Tech for 21 years, I have seen the worst the world has to offer in regards to people. Thank you Rocket Dog Rescue.

that was my thoughts too.....we had a pair of dogs like this, and when Hiedi died our Scott grieved for the rest of his life, we did get another rescue who was an older dog so he had company and it did help him but that sadness in his eyes was always there

Such a beautiful story and wonderful family who decided to keep them together. I am a rescue person myself and I do my best to help these precious furbaby's find homes. When I was born my dad raised Dobermans but we had a Beagle that was much older than our Male Doberman. They loved each other and it was hard to find a time they weren't together. The Beagle died from just being old and had a long life. The male Doberman looked constantly for his friend. He wouldn't eat or drink or sleep. Every noise in the house he would go look for his buddy. He died from a heart attack constantly upset and looking for his friend two weeks later. They are buried next to each other. I know in my heart they are playing in green pastures in Heaven waiting to be reunited with us. It just wouldn't be Heaven without our loyal companions with us. God made dogs the perfect companions for us and to love us no matter what humans do to us. We always have simething besides Jesus we know for sure loves us.

I hope Charlie our late golden retriever is up in heaven with my daddy. Dad loved his dog Charlie they were inseparable until my daddy passed. Charlie died one yr later of old age.

These two Souls have been bound for many lives and no one can convince me otherwise♡♡

They clearly bonded deeply. Of course they should be adopted together!

They are one special family that understood that dogs can love too and also get a broken heart they did an amszing thing for these two sweet bonded buddies this is a wonderful outcome for both of them Thank you to the Family with a heart

What a lovely story. This happened to me, but with a blind cat I adopted from a shelter in Rome, Italy. The blind cat had, whilst we waited for the rabies quarantine period, become inseparable with a little kitten. The shelter emailed to say that they couldn't bear to separate them, but we agreed to adopt them both. They lived together happily for 7 years with us in the Isle of Man. Sadly, both have now passed on.

So cute. My chihuahuas were besties. We lost one just recently to the same heart issues Taco has. It breaks my hearts that the surviving dog is lost without her bestie

I had a pair of rottweilers dedicated to each other just like these 2. They did not grow up together and met as adults but became inseparable. When the older female had a stroke and had to be put down, the male cried all night and was inconsolable for a very long time. It's nice to see devotion in dogs because they are the one true faithful being on this earth. But when one of them has to leave, it's horrible. Maybe this video made some people uncomfortable, like it did me. But I up clicked it in honor of my sweet baby girl.

I agree animals are more loyal. Humans need to learn these behaviors more. 💙💛

Dogs are better than people . what loyalty these 2 dogs have. If only people were that loyal to one another.

I am so happy these babies are ok and together. It is very frustrating how long it took for these volunteers to get a clue. It is VERY obvious how bonded they are. They had to endure a lot of stress it sounds like. Unnecessary stress because people didn’t have the knowledge about dog psychology and behavior to understand that they needed each other. The fact that they tried to adopt them out separately after everything they saw with the duo is very stupid on their part. Stress, depression, and loss can destroy a dog’s health physically and mentally. Good thing they caught on and now both of these dogs are together in a loving home.

To the ROCKET DOG rescuers - I LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH!! This is heartwarming to see two completely different yet beautiful breeds have a bond most humans don't have for each other. They don't discriminate, just love. Poor little Tacho, I'm so glad he is doing a lot better and Merrill is such an amazing big sister for him. 💕

I am GLAD Meryl and Taco were able to stay together. He needed his sister and she needed him. I'm glad their new family understood that bond. Meryl is a beautiful dog and Taco is very cute.

This is a great story. Dogs are definitely our angels on earth. That couple who adopted them were saviors.
