Man Attacks Woman At ATM - Unaware That Her Dog Is A Cop

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Adopting a retired police dog has its perks, especially if you’re a woman living in Detroit. That’s what Samantha thought, but nothing turned out as planned when she went to use the ATM and a menacing man stood in her way. It all happened in an instant, but what her dog did amazed her.

This is BS for at least two reasons. 1. As a retired police officer I spent time on the SWAT team which the K9 officers served under. K9 dogs never go to a shelter and anyone who they go to has to be vetted and trained on how to handle the dog. You just can't turn a highly trained attack dog over to an untrained person, it's a large lability issue. 2. A woman that had been robbed before at that ATM would not go back at night to that ATM. Also most apartment managers aren't allow to take cash payments because the aren't allowed to keep cash in the office, especially in a bad area of town.

Im retired Cop, Retired Vet. PTSD big shock. I found and adopted a military working dog. His handler for 3 years was afraid to bring him home having children in the house. I flew to TX and fell in love immediately. I used to keep him muzzled on public walks but gave him his old uniform back. I started with "Service dog" vest but everyone wanted to pet him. Not a year later, muzzle off "Military K9" vest on. Everyone goes WAY around us on the trail now.

How could any dog lover part with their dog! I’m glad Raven found a kind loving home where she’s needed and gets to see her old police partner as well. Service dogs deserve good homes when retired for the selfish dangerous job they did so well! It’s the least we owe them.

Glad to read comments below because I thought it quite bizarre that a trained dog would be taken to a shelter. That said, GSDs are amazing. I swear they could be shot and will still defend their people no matter what. It is so important that GSDs have someone to become deeply attached to. I adopted an older GSD -- age unknown -- that had been kept for backyard breeding then thrown away when her dysplasia became extremely painful. It took her six months to become attached and then she hated to let me out of her sight. Wonderful, beautiful, loving Ryka RIP.

many are given to retired police officers and some are not. It all depends on how locally they deal with it. I know some who got theirs from a neighbor who's son was a officer, and one was a military dog sniffing out explosives given to a retired fireman. Just so you know some of these dogs come back from service a wreak. One would never sleep by himself outside he hollered like a hound until he could come inside and stayed right beside you even at night. He followed like a puppy. But he did not like fireworks or any kind of shots even the 2-5 blocks away kind was not far enough he would go into a frenzy and a few times had to go to the vet to be calmed down because he literally got sick. He died 3 or 4 years later of some kind of cancer of the bones. As for the story...Most of this stuff on YT these days is made up entertainment.

Whether this is true or not, I cannot say. But after the way that the military (and government abandoned) their military-trained dogs overseas to fend for themselves instead of bringing them home nothing would surprise me. IMHO, if the government& the military can afford to send these dogs overseas then they should not have a problem with bringing them home once they have done their duty and protected the servicemen. These are just my opinions. Wishing everyone a happy 2024.

I have a 150 pound Newfoundland dog. If you know anything about Newfs, you know that they are laid back and extremely gentle with kids. She’s everyone’s friend unless she thinks you mean the family harm. She just inserts herself between anyone she doesn’t know and her family. She doesn’t need to bark, her presence is imposing enough. And if she barks to warn people, she will get everyone’s attention. And, of course, she thinks she is a lap dog. Love my Koda.

Where is it that they call dogs from Newfoundland "Newfs"? Or are they from somewhere other than Newfoundland, Canada? I worked in Newfoundland's capital, St John's, for years, (actually the province is called "Newfoundland-Labrador") and know that native dogs there are called Labradors, or Labs. Their gentle behaviour is as described. They are very prevalent on aboriginal reserves. But never, ever, have I heard them called Newfs.

  • @nellybean69

    @nellybean69

@@korolr I think this will answer your questions. I couldn’t figure out how to add a link, so I had to copy and paste. Newfoundland Dog Breed Country of Origin: Canada Height: Males 28 inches average, females 26 inches average Weight: Males 130 to 152 pounds, females 100 to 120 pounds Coat: Double coat with moderately long, moderately straight, coarse, oily, water-resistant outercoat and soft, dense undercoat Colors: Black, brown, gray, white with black markings Registries (With Group): AKC (Working); UKC (Guardian) Origin and History Stories about the origin of the Newfoundland (nicknamed "Newfie") abound and are as salty as any seafaring legends around. Some say that his descendant is a nomadic Indian dog; others that it is a Viking "bear dog"; others that the Labrador Retriever is a close relative; and still others that it is the ancient Tibetan Mastiff whose blood flows through the Newfie. Records from the 1600s show that European fishing vessels were frequent visitors to the Maritimes. Because these travelers often arrived with dogs, their European breeds most likely crossed with native dogs to contribute to today's Newfoundland. These most likely included the Portuguese Water Dog and Great Pyrenees. Eventually, two distinct types developed: the so-called Lesser St. John's Dog (who developed into the Labrador Retriever) and the Greater St. John's Dog (who became the Newfoundland). Both were invaluable assistants to fishermen. The Newfoundland's duties included hauling in nets, carrying boat lines to shore, rescuing anyone who fell overboard, and doing whatever else was requested of him. His webbed feet and water-repellent coat enabled him to work in any kind of conditions. Today, the Newfie's talents are ever-present, and he is active in water trials, competitive obedience, weight pulling, carting, and backpacking and as a watchdog and guard dog.

Exactly, I always say the same thing and even found myself telling my ex-wife the same things to her, whenever she did certain unsafe things as well. The attitude is always that nothing wrong can happen to them and for some reason the mind set is that they are untouchable. Never say never, because you never know and it’s better to take precautions in life than to be sorry. A couple of summers ago in Memphis,Tn there was a teacher, who usually did her run in the early hours of the day and one day she was snatched off the streets during one of those runs and they found her several days later, after she was dumped like trash. They ultimately found the suspect who deleted her. But, I am pretty sure that there were people in her life, who told her not to run at 4am. But some times, woman act like you cannot say anything to them, when your attempts will probably save her life.

This story can’t be true, mainly because of the process in which she obtained the dog, but also: 1) WHY ON EARTH would a person keep going to an ATM where they’d been robbed, esp @ night?!?! 2) I’ve worked with young women for years and always tell them (and girls in my family) “never leave your residence and live with a man. When problems arise , you have NO PLACE to go! Women are the ones at risk, in many ways, when living with a man. If he really cares about you, professing undying love, he will make it permanent so that you are, protected and provided for. Be careful, take your time, (at least 2 yrs to know a person), choose wisely, and save yourself a world of heartache!

Actually, I also adopted a dog from the shelter, a blue healer and it was obviously professionally trained. I lived near an airforce base, and many police/ sheriff dept.'s, my husband was retired fire dept. 🔥 there was no doubt this dog was professionally trained, it hunted and killed all animals on our property 23 acres, and was extremely intelligent and may have even Been used by the DEA OR ICE Agency, there's no way to know how he ended up at the shelter, but he was definitely a runner and was always taking off chasing animals so it's quite possible he was separated from his owner, or his owner passed away and the family was not capable to take care of him, he was a hand full and because we lived on a lot of land was able to give him the life he needed, he would not have survived in the city in a small house all day😢 he and my husband were inseparable until he passed away...

Yeah, that is a pretty great story, but as a retired police officer, and somebody who will still train dogs for the police department, and the military and various alphabet agencies, and I also work with rescues that places dogs with said agencies, I know, for a fact that none of my dogs That I train end up in shelters now I have taken certain breeds out of shelters and have trained them for these agencies but they don’t go back to shelters. They will either go with their handlers when they retire, or as stated, will go to fully vetted homes or other handlers or come back to me and I will place them with other handlers or fully vetted homes that I have vetted or stay with me until they cross the bridge.

Not to mention the guy wouldn’t just stand there and look like a stalker without saying something because he would be scaring that girl. And if he didn’t give a crap about the dog and wanted to give it away, why would he want to arrange a coffee date to keep in touch with it? Seriously? nope

As a former owner of a EOD Canine retrained into a Medical Alert Canine, my Rocky was the best friend and companion a man could ever have. An American German Shepherd with capabilities to numerous to list here, he was a true member of my family. Very protective of my wife, daughter and son, he even saved my son, who was only 3-4 years old at the time, from two coyotes that meant to attack my son while playing on a grassy knoll, he attacked those two coyotes and saved him. We didn’t even see those two coyotes but somehow Rocky did or simply smelled them very close by. They say that German Shepherds can see into the souls of men. I truly believe that to be true. 👍

Many years ago I looked after my boyfriend's German Shepherd and as I waitressed during the day had to walk him at night. One evening I encountered a young man who had left his abusive home in the country and was looking for somewhere to stay as the Salvo home was only for older alcoholic men, not young boys of 16. I offered to walk him to the Wayside chapel. On my return a car slowed down and the driver looked dodgy but he sped off after he saw the dog walk onto the road. Walking Sydney streets at night with Buster gave me a confidence that never left me.

This story is fake...nice story but totally unbelievable. Many reasons..including the fact that several different dogs represented Raven. No shots of the girl and her new dog walking along..So totally it was staged without the dog..Any dog shots were just that...photos. And no trained police dog is given to the shelter. Period. They are highly trained and would be a disaster in the wrong hands waiting for the correct appropriate instruction. If the new owner knew nothing about the prior training and commands, the dog would be so confused. And dangerous.
