A friend of mine adoped a fifteen year old mutt from a shelter. She was blind and had a messed up leg that eventually had to get amputated. They didn't think she'd make it through the surgery but she did, so my friend got to work in giving her the best months of her life if that's all she had left. Dog is nineteen now, and she can still run, jump and play like a puppy, has no arthritis, no kidney problems, no nuthin. She really said "ok you've been really good to me, so you'll get to have me for a long time as a treat". Absolute sweetheard of a pupper.

And bless the good neighbor who kept Larry alive when he was abandoned and who contacted the rescue organisation. There was a chain of good people who watched out for Larry so that he could finally have a safe place to live out his days.😂🤗❤️

Because for every 1000 pet owners there's only one animal rescuer. Some people will or sometimes have to leave them behind.

@@blingbling2841 I call BS. If you have to leave them behind, you find someone to rehome them to, or take them somewhere like a rescue or shelter to be taken care of. You do NOT just leave them to fend for themselves. If you're that cold and heartless you should never have a pet or a child, PERIOD. They are 100% reliant on you and it is your job and responsibility to see that they are taken care of. The only real exception is if you die like Hachikō's (The dog who waited at a train station after his owner had a heart attack at work and died.) owner. This is coming from someone who could've rented a place for $800/month when I moved a few years ago, but almost nowhere allowed pets over 35 lbs, if they did at all. But instead, I chose to rent the home I'm in at $1300/month to keep both of my 100 lb dogs. I know not everyone can afford to pay nearly double their rent to keep their companions. But I would be DAMNED if I would've just up an abandoned them. I would've either been looking for something a bit further from work, or worked with a shelter or rescue if I absolutely could not find a way to keep them. I also know that not everyone moves willingly or has a long time to look. The owners of my last home died and I had 90 days to find somewhere else to live. My point is THERE IS NO EXCUSE TO JUST STRAIGHT UP ABANDON ANY DOMESTICATED ANIMAL TO FEND FOR ITSELF IN THE WILD.

If you can’t except the responsibility , then they should never even consider owning a pet.... A PET OF ANY KIND IS FOR LIFE .👍👍👍🌸🌺🌸🕊

Honestly, when I saw Larry's eyes, I felt bad for him, he has been through hell. I was almost in tears.

I love seeing stories where "Senior" dogs get adopted. They still have a lot to offer.

I am so calmed by stories like yours, John. I was in feline rescue for 25 years, and totally burned out because of age and other health issues. To know that there are others coming behind me to do this work is a blessing. Thank you. I'm in southwestern Ontario, btw.

I am so glad Larry will enjoy his golden years with the pack and a caring owner! You can see his ear was chewed off and the bite mark scars from the dog attack. Poor old guy so deserves to have a happy and peaceful life!!! He looks so sweet!💗

What absolute jerks those people were to dump him. It's always shocking to me. Larry is such a cool soul and they couldn't see it? Screw them! Thank you, John! You are just awesome and wonderful.🙌🏽💖And so is the lovely soul who took care of him before he was given this new life.

Love I to have rescued 2 senior dogs, one blind , after 3 surgeries she was able to see, they are own all passed away at old ages but now I have five stray cats in my house and five that live on my front porch. They are all loved, fed and vet care. Thank you so much for saving Larry

PLEASE adopt seniors! They are so grateful! You'll save a life if they're in a kill shelter. We're on #7 in the last 20 years, but we've loved each one and we know that we might only have them for 1/2 dozen years, or even 1 one or 2, but they always bring joy to our hearts!

I rescued mine two 8 y.o. from a roof 2 year ago. The lady sold her house and just left them there. They never ever went downstairs, did not what grass was, there are other dogs or animals in the world. It was a tough journey, often still is, but I love them soooo much. My next dog also will be a rescue and a senior one(a). 💕 or maybe I should use plural : dogs 😁

Tenho 7 e ultimo que resgatamos....é um velinho de 12 anos....todos o amam....assim como todos os outros...mas ele é ESPECIAL,pq alem de pequeno....parece o yoda kkkk ele veio com um cancer no pescoço,fizemos a cirurgia...mas cresceu novamente,mesmo assim hj ele é mto mais feliz do que quando o encontramos,e agora até o fim da vida dele ele terá todo amor necessário para viver o resto dela bem!
