Wheein has one of the healthiest vocal technique in kpop, she can reach any note with so much ease and effortlessly deliver without struggling

This just made me realize how genuinely good their discography is. All their tracks are distinct in sound and genre, it just goes to show mamamoo's versatility.

Moonbyul sings a lot of words, but it's just sung so fast so she gets less air time, lol. (I think the most of MAMAMMOO's song was crafted very well, their producers did think and did the best thing for all songs.)

Honestly, Wheein has some charms in her voice that comfort my mind. It is so relaxing when i hear Wheein singing. She is my healthy pill

@@_seosoootang really? I thought her company switched her because they didn't want the group to be totally overpowered with 4 vocalists so they wanted to balance it out & make her a rapper. I know Hwasa is technically a rapper as well, but she doesn't really do that much anymore. She sticks to vocals.

Wheein- the backbone of Mamamoo's songs. It may not always be heard, but her adlibs and harmonizations are what makes the structure of Mamamoo's songs. Also, she records the guides for Mmms songs so no doubt that many of the lines were given to her. Really, this is such a sacrifice because during concerts, she will seldom get breaks. When people said that Wheein is the most useless member of mamamoo, they obviously don't know just how much of a burden she bears. Really, mmm wasn't lying when they said she handles the performance part of the group. Solar & Hwasa- each unique in their own rights but their tones and voice are what made mamamoo stand out, with Solar's belts and Hwasa' husky and sexy voice. Not to mention they're also both flexible with their voice when yoh listen to their bsides. There were times that i could hardly differentiate Hwasa and Wheein's voices when they do harmonies. Moonbyul- She has few overall song duration but her parts are often times the most impactful part of the song. Tbh, comparing line distributions confuses me because people often based it on time when rappers are often times singing their parts in a fast rhythmical way. They have long verses but are often time recorded short as they are rap parts, not melodies. Anyways, moonbyul is by no means inferior to any of the mmm members. She really stands out.

I mean, they're meant to be sang fast, that doesn't mean that a rapper has short lines than the rest when they were practically singing 5 words in a second. Some vocals have to sing a line repeatedly, like I wanna be a star by twice where those were the only words one of their members sang. Those aren't even lines, it's torture!

Keep also in mind that they usually have very evenly distributed number of lines but since Moonbyul is the rapper she is delivering the lines faster, resulting in her seconds being smaller :) it's too late sorry if my English is too sucky

Reading comments that said "Moonbyul need more lines", "They need to let her sing more" or "They did her dirty by making her rap" are making me lose my mind. Why is there people who think that song writing is like a group project where everybody need to contribute equally instead of an intricately crafted piece of art and the voices in the group are like different and distinct colors especially in MMM. It's like looking at Van Gogh's Starry night and then complain that he is using too much blue, or not using red or yellow enough. People either forget or doesn't know that Mamamoo was supposed to be a group with 5 members, had Moonbyul insisted on singing, she'll be where Yeri is in Red Velvet, still waiting to sing 20 sec by herself in a Red Velvet song while Moonbyul has 2 solo albums and 2 solo concerts. Some people are acting like RBW made Moonbyul say "wiggy wiggy risky risky this is an emergency" in her rap before fading into the background to be a backup dancer instead of giving her own segment to shine and the freedom to rap what ever she want plus she is accredited in every MMM songs and participated in all the song writing process. Be better FFS.

This is a funny comment and correct, I understand what you’re saying. I was never bothered with Byul’s line distribution until this album though. Before I understood if she only had 20 seconds because it was an awesome rap and the killer part of the song. However, she has proved that she is a good vocalist and can hold notes live without messing up, so I just thought that the WAW album messed up on including her. She had two lines in the title track at the start and then just stood there, when she could have easily sang another line in the verse. Don’t get me wrong I agree with you mostly, but I understand why people are getting frustrated. Sorry for the long comment 😅

@@josepablonunez7151 Wheein has a better placement than Solar, and she has a better control of her passagio, which sets her higher than Solar in technique ranking. Solar is very commendable in her power up to C#5 but above that she can sound a little shout-y. But nowadays, she's been consistently supporting D5s. Wheein, however, has been delivering D5s and Eb5s with ease since debut because of her better placement. But yeah both singers have been pretty consistent and even got better through the years.

I like this: - Solar does the belts - Hwasas does not stand out in a song, but her unique singing style makes her very special and adds a lot of colour. - Moonbyul doesnt have much parts but her part is the most stand out part in the whole song (coz its the only rap) - Wheein does all the soft high notes and the filler parts (which is good for her to have more coz her part stands out less) So overall I feel like this group has one of the fairest line distribution in kpop

Everyone remember that Byul has a decent amount of lines, but because she raps the words come out quicker and and take less time

imo i think yes, moon has a fair amount of lines knowing she is the rapper, but what makes me sad is the fact that a lot of their songs have harmonizing parts especially in the newest album but some of those parts don't include Byul, like why??? she sounds amazing with her low tone, it goes well with the others... so i'm not saying she should have more parts on her own but more parts when literally the other 3 are singing and she is just standing there like (._.) just my opinion tho

she is perfect for harmonizing yes but i think that's why she often isn't included with the 'haaah's and the 'ooohhh's is because she is in charge of ad-libs and hyping up the crowd. She'd probs be more burdened if they let her join the harmony crew while doing ad-libs here and there

Wheein is great singer but she has regressed now and solar has improved. Right now solar is best vocalist among all of them. That's why she is main vocalist also.

I'd agree it's okay if she was last in most songs, but without such a big discrepancy. She has just a bit over half the time than the others have. That's not fair to me. Yes she's a rapper, and she may not have vocals like the other do, but we all know she's a damn good vocalist that has proved so many times. They could throw her just a little bit more vocal lines to go with her raps in many of the songs, to give her more time than just half the time than the others. I mean things are better for her comparing to when they were rookies, but WAW smacked me in the face with how bad the distribution is for her. And don't give me the "but it's ballads", cause she has proved she can nail ballads and has released ballads on her own...

Well you do know she almost always has the most impactful parts in the songs right? AND SHE ALMOST ALWAYS HAS THE SAME NUMBER OF LINES SUNG IN THE SONG, but just because she raps, obviously faster than sung or spoken words, she would have a shorter time in general. In a lyrical point of view, Moonbyul always had the same lines in most songs as the other members, the time duration is only shorter because her lines are delivered faster because she raps them out instead of singing them out. Obviously she understands this, and she obviously makes up for this by delivering her lines with utmost energy and charisma, hence having the most impact in the song performance.

@dubu dubu the amount of lines she gets is very evened out with the rest, she just deliveres these faster as Solar, Wheein and Hwasa since she is rapping them. Resulting in "less lines" while she's having just as many lines most of the time. You can see that on websites that color code the lyrics

"Moonbyul needs more lines". Lol no. She's a rapper. Her lines are near the same length as the other members however she goes through those lines fast which is why "line distributions" are less about the distribution of lines "aka lyrics" and more about vocal screen time.

Imagine titling yourself as one of the groups vocalists. It would be damaging to her as she would be compared to the other members. Being a rapper that can sing is good enough.

Lol yes. She even cried about how few lines she has and how useless she was feeling because in most songs (or when MMM is asked to perform a snippet) she will just stand there, without singing for the big majority of the song, without even a proper choreo to do. GIdle is OT5 with with 1 main rapper, but Soyeon overall is the 2nd member with the most "vocal screen time" (which depends on the line distribution). BTS are 7 and have 3 rapper, and none of them are last (unfortunatly for Jin). Being a rapper doesn't mean being last And Actuallly RBW Ent. and MMM seems to think that Moonbyul needs more lines too. There is a reason why since 2018 MMM do solo projects after solo projects : first the 4 colors mini album project (where Moonbyul got her 2 first Single (Selfish and In My Room) and then, in 2020, their 4 solo mini-album project. (And they even started to do more complex choreo too : she was the main dancer of a group that didn't have proper choreo).

People are like "I thought Solar had the most lines" "Poor moonbyul they did her dirty" well news break it's not just about the quantity but also the quality. A lot of Wheein time is actually just harmonizing with the other girls. From what I could see in the 2 latest comebacks she has less time to shine solo then H or S. As for Moonbyul their's always a change in her part of the song that makes her shine (her part in WAW is my favourite)

The fact that they call it line distribution but almost all the comments are about Wheein’s being the best vocalist did any one argue with you on that? and moonbyul rapper blah blah. You guys are just WEIRD. They are all good musicians simple. ThankGod Hwasa’s fans have not complained that she is the last in line distribution. The reason I’m confused by MoonByul’s lack of lines, is that I heard someone say that three singers was enough Just seems like a waste of a good singer In the states, when we have four singers, all four sing. It makes the harmonies richer. And it just sounds better En Vogue, Boyz ii men, jodeci, original destiny’s child even UK’s original little mix It would make sense of she couldn’t sing at all, but that’s not true Are the others girls better, sure, but that doesn’t mean she can’t participate. The worst is on stage, If she just came out during her rap part, that’d be one thing But to watch her just sit there through the majority of the song seems like a waste Especially when her low rich tone can add to harmonies At least during the chorus or pre chorus And honestly, a rap isn’t appropriate for some songs, why not let her sing a line or harmonize Again, Just seems like a waste I know this was decided by professional producers But sometimes producers waste potential too. I’ve heard plenty of songs that could be better with more voices even proven by covers or remixes
