Potato peeler is great for peeling rutabagas. My grandma used to add rutabagas to her greens and cabbage. While greens cabbage were cooking - in another small pot - she would peel and cut up 1 or 2 rutabagas- sprinkle a little bit season salt eg Lowrys or Soul Food, garlic & onion powder on them and boiled them in smoked Turkey or chicken stock or broth until they soft then drained off the water. Sprinkle some black pepper on'em and set aside. Once her pot of greens or cabbage is done...she threw them rutabagas into the pot and mixed them in with the greens or cabbage. You don't want to overload on rutabagas...just 1 is enough for a medium pot greens/cabbage. Grandma used 1 -2 because she cooked a huge pot of greens.

I love these but also love turnips an almost everyone I know or watch doesn’t realize they are not the same vegetables lol 😂 Turnips are usually white and purple on the outside, with very white flesh, while rutabagas are yellowish and brown on the outside with orange-yellow flesh. Rutabagas are also generally much larger than turnips.
