Those people are waaaay too close. If something spooked that mama bear, or something caught her eye as a threat, or one of her cubs wandered towards the people, man, oh, man.

I was in Alaska once, in Denali Park, at a visitors' station with a ranger. There was a grizzly mama with two cubs. I saw her huge paws and how she dug a deep hole with them in seconds. We were four times as far away but the ranger made us go inside because of just what K Chris says here. They're even more aggressive when they have cubs to protect. They could have at least stayed in their cars to spare her some stress.

Nearly as dangerous as seeing cubs alone. Mama is aware of the humans here and does not see them as much of a threat.

YOu approached them too close. They get nervous and start making mistakes! Respect their habitat!

I mean she didn't and...they won't. In fact when has a bear ever attacked a large group of tourists in the road. As animals, they don't even want to be injured and have a strong enough sense of self-preservation not to suicide into a group of humans.

@@deViant14 In any national park you are told to stay in your vehicle. I take it you have never lived or been to a national park. You have no idea how dumb tourists really are. Literally witnessed so many Chinese people think it's cool to tell their kids to get as close as they can to a wild animal for a photo or to try and hand-feed them.

I saw the same thing in the smokies with black bears and their cubs. Stupid tourists trying to get as close as possible. Generally bears won’t attack groups of people that large, but push come to shove and a momma bear will fight with all her might.

Notice how mama bear cautiously crossed the road by herself to make sure it was safe before returning to get her lovely cubs. Then again she didn't expect to see so many careless folks taking enormous risks standing a few feet away, dummies really !!

Sue Nami let’s just say I didn’t scare them. And let’s just say I was told to stop where I was from officials before proceeding through BECAUSE I was on a public road. And let’s just say that even if I wanted to move back, I couldn’t because there was cars behind me. Nature is unpredictable and sometimes out of our hands where they cross traffic. Why don’t you stay off public roads so you can avoid the possibility of hitting wildlife?

I agree with you. The people and cars are so close leaving very little space for the bear and babies. Also, the bear is so stressed out and so little space for movement that except for climbing that wall it does not have any choice. Not sure the babies will be able to make it ,i.e climbing the wall.

They should have stood still and quiet. The babies seemed scared and apprehensive. I follow a youtuber who is a professional outdoorsman in YNP backcountry. Quiet and slow always and never a threat. It is interesting to watch. Stan Mills.

I’ve lived in Alaska for 61 years and have seen a number of bears and one a little to close for comfort but you don’t see them daily, but I’ve never seen a mother bear with four cubs!

Ian so envious! Always wanted to see Alaska!

Isn’t it remarkable how often one sees this happen ...... Mama Grizzly appears with Cubs, so everyone gets out of their Cars and moves closer to get a better look. Photographers are the worst in my experience (Yep, said even though I am one).

Poor cubs they almost lost their mother. Stupid people were outside and the bear could have attacked at any point, forcing some sheriff to kill her. For what? Doing what’s natural to her to feed her cubs. Then these cubs would have been zoo or circus shows. Humans are such idiots.
