It is really excellent explanation, video and recipe. I love this Tatte Idli from 1983 but never tried this "Mallige Idli"..Awesome and wonderful taste...I completely agree with Madam Sripriya P comment.

Tried this recipe and turned out amazing, the ratio of items is simply perfect. Made few changes like soaking 1) idli rice 2) urad dal, mente beeja and 3) avalakki and sabakki separately and grinding in separate batches as well, since I was using a mixie and it would heat up (since this needs to be finely ground), added cold water from the fridge while grinding as well to cool down the same and stopped the mixie for few seconds and let the air in many times in between, to avoid over heating. Also, since it is quite chilly or rainy since the last few days, soaked and ground the batter by 5:30 - 6:00 p.m. in the evening and let it ferment in a closed cupboard till 8:30 - 9:00 a.m. the next morning for good fermentation.
