    Se entiende porqué Mana sama no quería que Tetsu se fuera, aún siendo tan quisquilloso con lo técnico y lo estético... la voz de Tetsu expresa tanto sentimiento, que trasciende y deja en segundo plano al perfeccionismo .

    @benjo A better translation is "Memory and Sky"

  • @voodoosleeper

    @voodoosleeper

    3 жыл бұрын

    @benjo because memory isn't pluralized in the original song title and the concept of "the" doesn't really exist in Japanese language and "memories and the sky" is a clunky translation because no English speaker would ever string those words together, it sounds like broken English. Rarely, translation works better when it's more direct. And this is one of those cases. Your translation adds an incorrect interpretation to the meaning of the song title and makes the title pointlessly have incorrect English syntax. The song title in English is contextually "Memory and Sky" not "Memories and the Sky" which you artificially inserted nonexistent plurals and unnecessary English particles into. Your translation is complicating things for no reason and sounds like broken English which is the exact opposite of good translation.

  • @voodoosleeper

    I know why some people sour on Tetsu. His voice is messy and imprecise. But there's a beauty to it. He's more chaotic than Gackt and Klaha. Klaha had power and Gackt had nuance, Tetsu was the perfect voice for the young iteration of the band. They really fit the age of each era well even if I think their artistic peak was Gackt.

    I love every era of malice mizer, but as an 80s goth music fan I listen to Memoire more than any of their albums. Don't get me wrong, I love all of their songs and albums but when I'm in that goth music mood it's either this album or the band Choir Boy which is similar to Tetsu era malice mizer (and early gackt era in some respects too). Malice Mizer has been my favorite band since I was 11 though so I may be biased.

    I can honestly say that "Baroque" changed my life forever. First time I heard it, I was 11 years old and my friend's older brother gave me a mix CD of Malice Mizer stuff and I was instantly obsessed. Uruwashiki Kamen No Shoutaijou is the other one that sealed it for me. This band has shaped me in so many ways since then. I'm almost 31 now. Still to this day, I consider them my favorite band even if I don't listen to them as often.

    I'm 19 and discovered malice mizer this year when baroque was suggested to me by youtube. I clicked on it because i liked the name of the band and I thought the thumbnail (a picture of mana sama) was a pretty lady (lmao). instantly fell in love, too, in a way I had never experienced before with any other song. it genuinely changed my entire perspective on music and art in general. it's so cool that different people can have such similar experiences decades apart :) I hope kids and teens 20 years from now will discover malice mizer and fall in love with them too

You can really hear the band's roots started in the rock scene in the late 80s in those tiny, dense little Japanese venues. And they made a sound like no one else. Actually marvelous.

    Huge fan of Malice Mizer. Listening to this album is so interesting as it's the beginning of the band's mark. A good one, a very interesting one. Pleasurable, if not a bit strange, Tetsu as I'm hearing his range used it in this album with a peculiar style that admittedly has turned me away from listening to it. While I'm not completely turned on his voice, it's not as "hurting" as it was originally.

    Listen to the songs in the album, listen to the effect on Tetsu’s voice when it sounds like a stereo echo kinda like Vynl, a similar sounding effect used by Boy George’s band Culture Club, the effect on his voice, does anyone know what the name of that effect is? Or is the sound the result of the recording equipment used.
