I was very curious as to how both of you would handle the shallow water and the foreground rocks. This is SO helpful, I will watch this one again. I struggle and get too fussy and ruin the shallow water and rocks. Both of these paintings are beautiful; so interesting with the two different approaches! Thanks so much!

Amazing paintings, it really helps having the artists narrate their thought process.

A different type of water for your painting. I really took an interest in this scene as it is what I experience more often where I live…as opposed to ocean water. I love the ocean but don’t often get to experience it. The reflections and the rocks under the water as well as the rocks sitting on the shoreline are very difficult to paint in watercolor so it was really interesting to see how you handled them with oils. Beautiful results! Thank you for sharing.😊

I love the shallow water! I have never seen you paint this type of shallow water with the individual rocks. I didn’t think you were going to be able to pull it off, but you did! Really beautiful.

One of the problems I have with my plein air work is trying to finish too much. I like what you said about trying to stop earlier than you usually feel comfortable with. I'm going to work on that. I also like Ariah's painting over a dark background and the challenges he faced. I'm going to have to try that too.

I enjoyed watching the challenges you both put forth. Shallow water came out wonderful! Watching the paint go over a dark panel made me wonder about experimenting that way to really give my neural pathways a jolt! I’ve noticed the group of Canadian Plein air artists Men who Paint, do that often. Thank you both for taking us with you!

A pleasure, as always, to watch you paint ...I always learn something new and relearn better what I need to know. Shapes, values.. Those reflections and transparent water has always been really tough for me. I am going to watch this a few more ( hundred) times. 😅 Both of you wielding the brushes like art warriors. This is one of my favorite things about Sundays..always can't wait to see what your taking in next. Thank-you both for sharing your talents and knowledge. It is much appreciated!!! One question, did you use a different brand of Burnt Sienna? It looked more orangey to me than your usual? Or was it the lighting?
