Hi Jamie! Love your vlog. We flew over to Barbados on a Maleth flight on 24 November to join Arvia. I agree with your observations that the flight crew were lovely, and free drinks were a nice touch, although very limited and we would have liked the option to buy more. Unfortunately, the aircraft felt grimey, the toilets were stained, there was only one option for the in-flight meal, with no vegetarian option for my mum, so she had no dinner. Honestly, no vegetarian option in this day and age? Terrible. The plane also 'clunked' from time to time which added to our flying anxiety. We found the width of the seats to be on the small side, although admittedly we do have a fuller frame! The return flight (9 December) to Gatwick was delayed by 3 hours and was much the same experience as the flight out, although thankfully the plane didn't clunk this time round. With no in-house entertainment, no duty free in-flight buying experience, and limited drink availability, the flights felt exceptionally long. It was the least enjoyable flight we have experienced. As a result our family has decided to give P and O fly cruises a miss in future unless something significant changes. I would add that a holiday really ought to start as soon as you get on board the aircraft. This missed the mark by a very wide margin. Love to you and Maffoo! Charlotte, Terry & Antonia x

Great review Jamie, very measured and even esp. knowing what we know now about the return leg!! My husband and I watched this together and we both said (even without knowing about the awful return flight debacle and P&O subsequently drop kicking you off the ship knowing that hundreds of their loyal passengers will be spending the night in an airport with little facilities (why did they hold on to your cruise cards by the way? We couldn’t understand why they would do that!)) - that if they are still using Maleth for our 2025 Caribbean cruise, we would lose our deposit and cancel. I am not flying on what is essentially a short haul plane, for 9 hours - without any comforts for a tui plane, that other passengers around the country will enjoy for the same price!! The airport/hotel the night before/ the flight and movies and having a drink and good food, for us it’s all part of the holiday - that plane you were on looked sooooo sub-standard, we will just use the money we saved for the cruise for a holiday somewhere else. I really hope P&O listen to you and the hundreds of others - or passengers will just vote with their feet and stop using them altogether. I Also loved tonight’s live - vodka shots on a Monday? You utter lush! 😂😂

Glad I watched this, just back from a one week arvia cruise. Had a 12 hour delay on the way there due to a technical issue. Missed the first evening of the cruise. Maleth were good, took everyone to a hotel on Manchester Airport and we all had rooms and lunch there. However we had a letter through the door of the room to confirm the flight was cancelled at about 3pm, with confirmation the hotel was giving us dinner and breakfast. About 40 mins later we had a call to say the flight was going, get to the coaches outside immediately. Unfortunately some people missed this information as they had taken the letter at face value and gone out from the hotel. I suspect these are the same two people whose luggage had to then be offloaded from the plane once we had all boarded. Food was poor, on the outward flight it was cold. Seats are very small, aisle is very small and that makes it difficult to be comfortable in those seats when food service is happening and when people are passing. On the flight back the crew said one flight time, the captain gave another, the crew time was right 😮. I absolutely would not fly with maleth long haul again. The aeroplane is far too small for that to be comfortable.

Hiya! I have held out about watching this vlog but succumbed this afternoon. We are travelling to meet Arvia in March and are on the Maleth flight ex Gatwick. I have taken all your tips on board (pardon the pun) and am pleased we are only travelling one way as we are sailing back to Blighty! I have ordered up a couple of extra powerbanks and will be buying some snacks to take on board. With regard to drinks, I assume you can buy some bottles airside at LGW. You have put my mind at rest a little. Cheers! 😊

Good review Jamie, however you had a much better experience than we did, we were not allowed as many drinks as you as they had run out and no tea or coffee, my husband had one extra legroom seat which was very cramped in the width, we had toilets not working and a delay longer than you experienced.

Ok, so however I feel about this airline and arrangement with P&O, nothing can prepare you for the return flight with our 16 hour delay! But this is a good into for sure!

Good fair review and those seats are not 90 pounds each worth that's for sure , service seems to be ok . That plane is an old girl and not upto a standard you expect on a trip to a cruise in the Caribbean. Keep cruising 🎉🎉❤

Great Vlog and honest review. We go in January 2025 and our flight is already showing as TUI on our Cruise Personaliser. I hope P&O haven’t just done that so we will pay in full then change it over to Maleth. I would much rather cancel and find another Line to go with then go through what you did.

we are the same for march 25 on our cruise personaliser its saying tui to have tried calling p and o to confirm this but cant get thru if its not tui i would rather cancel my cruise and go with someone else

hi jamie , that live on sunday was very good , but carnt wait for the viseos to come out now , we fly out of manchester to antigua on feb 24th ,and to be quite honest were not lookinh forward to this holiday at all , and carnt wait to get back , theses flights sould like hell i reraly hope p&O sort it out before , reading that people have contacted media , news and even bbc watchdog , surely P&O dont want that kind of publicity , glad you went on to see it for yourself ., cheers

We flew out of Manchester on Maleth on 29th December to Barbados to pick up the Britannia. We were 5 hours delayed, no food or drink vouchers issued. Got on board and were told to sit anywhere we wanted as it was a smaller plane (they had asked for 21 volunteers to be flown out the next day) and the seat configuration was different to the original aeroplane it was literally a free for all 🤦‍♀️ food was inedible and we only had 0:15 one drink service all flight. We were also delayed by 3 hours on our return. It was only when we got on the aeroplane that the captain informed us that there was a technical problem. Nobody let us know anything at the airport. I as with many others have submitted a flight delay directly with Maleth. I’m still waiting on a response.

Brilliant vlog Jamie. Personally I don't think I'd do a fly cruise unless I could do the flights separately from the cruise booking as the plane looked very cramped.

I’d never do this flight again after the nightmare return!!

I can forgive a plane not coming with IFE, least they messaged ahead of time. Very surprised to see an A330 flying with 3-4-3 seat configuration as they are usually set up in a 2-4-2 layout, probably about right for a charter airline that could be doing P&O flights one day and something very different the next day. Food looked about average for economy class. Nice vlog and overview of this flight!

We were booked to fly premium before the Maleth announcement. I tried but couldn’t book the Maleth exit row seats for my parents, who are in their 70s, as the system wasn’t working properly (the seat booking system was laggy and kept crashing). By the time we could book something, the exit row seats were all taken and in the end they paid to select the regular seats together. After everything, I absolutely refused to pay P&O more money to select seats for my husband and I. So, despite being on the same booking, my husband and I were assigned seats apart from each other. This was for both the outgoing and return journeys! Even if you don’t pay to select seats on a regular airline, when you book as a couple, you are usually assigned seats together for short haul or at check in 24hr before for long haul. I was sat on the very back row by myself with strangers for 9hrs :-) Come on P&O, we’ve spent thousands on this cruise package! This is in addition to the old, tired, cramped planes and substandard in flight service which made for a very poor start and end to the holiday. The planes are not fit for purpose for long haul travel.

Excellent review, them seats look like they are out of the 1980s, P&O cocked up big time. We are looking at doing this cruise December but I won't use P&O if they are still using this airline, I'm a diehard P&O customer too. Fabulous review Jamie. Not sure I would bother with them haha. Leg room is terrible but of course most airlines are cutting back more and more. I do wonder what do larger people or pregnant ladies do in those tine spaces. The food . Enjoy your time there if you are still there.

Oh Jamie! What are we going to do?😢 We have this cruise booked for Xmas 2024 and I was so excited. But after watching this video there is absolutely no way I can fly on that airline. I can’t fly economy best of times and was looking to upgrade to a premium cabin which is obviously non existent. We obviously have no choice but to book on BA and make our own way. So please help - can u kindly tell me what time your flight was scheduled to leave LGW and arrive in Bridgetown. And what time did the ship depart that first evening? Then I can check the BA options. Thank you. Please keep the videos coming - we have learned a lot from you which has always enhanced our cruises.

@@steveb9iphone Steve I answered the departure Q above. We left U.K. at about 10.45am on 23rd. Arrived into barbados about 3.30pm their time. Half hour transfer to ship. Ship supposed to leave at 8pm. Left at 10.30pm ish as some flights were delayed.

Thanks for the information on the flight to Barbados with Maleth. We returned on a flight from Barbados to Birmingham on TUI, which was ok, and we have booked another cruise in November on the Arvia. Do you know if it’s only Gatwick and Manchester flights that are using the budget airline Maleth? I thought about cancelling the cruise with P&O when I heard the news that they are now using Maleth. My son needs extra legroom because of his disability, and this will be a deciding factor to cancel if we can’t upgrade to extra legroom.

As usual, an information packed video. Many of us have been following the Maleth saga since the flight partnership announcement was made, all the claims from his royal highness Mr. P&O himself, Obviously he must have taken a long haul flight himself for research purposes going incognito or he would not have been dumb enough to sign off on this.. that's being sarcastic. This is just one of many passenger experiences basically saying the same thing which shows the potential loyal passenger shxt storm of complaints heading for their in trays. One or two complaints easily brushed off, but the potential of hundreds a week and maybe making main stream media , ie television and newspapers, they cannot ignore the fact, the one at the top who signed this off, needs either replacing or change airlines. Customers will no longer stand for sub standard service. Booking our Caribbean trip for 2024 is now on hold until they drop Maleth for sure.

Hi Jamie, interesting vlog. Could you clarify something for me please. You mention that you have your passport and Barbados visa. Do you mean the Barbados immigration form declaration? I'm off to Barbados on the 12th Jan for 2 weeks on Britannia with my wife and brother and sister in law. Luckily we are flying from Birmingham on a TUI Dreamliner so will have all the things you should have had as that's what you paid for but didn't get. P&O have a lot to answer for. Keep on winking! 😉😉😉😉😉

We went on p&o in the summer on Britannia when the ship broke its moorings in Mallorca we were going to book a Christmas cruise when we got back. But we didn’t as we felt P&O are cost cutting so much it actually isn’t a great cruise line or value anymore. So them using a budget airline carrier doesn’t surprise me and makes are decision not book confirmed. Booked the celebrity Apex for the summer.

Take some nibbles / drinks, download some films on an iPad / your phone, take power banks to charge your devices during flight. Crew were very nice.

that does look awful we were on the xmas cruise which we loved and were lucky enough to be on TUI it did put us off from booking next year , however we have been told the Maleth contract is not being renewed after the caribbean season ends in march and nearly all flights have been secured on charter for next year by TUI with the other flights back to virgin - i dont think it was a cost cutting exercise just a logistical problem with not enough supply to meet the extra demand of another 5000 people flying from the uk every fortnight

9 seats across on an A330 is brutal when 8 is the industry standard on that type of aircraft. They also gave you bulkhead seats instead of exit seats hence why so little room.

There is nothing wrong with budget long haul if that’s what you buy to save the pounds. But totally unacceptable swapping out a more premium line without discussion or compensation. Imagine buying a BMW and them delivering a Lada saying it’s gets you from A to B just as good. It baffles me why P&O, not a budget cruise line, would want to damage their brand reputation and customer’s holiday experience before you even board. Why anyone would choose P&O and endure this is beyond me - those that it was forced on don’t have a choice, but I suspect it will have a big hit on future bookings.

I don’t - but in this occasion j understand why they did given the hysteria about these flights!!

There is absolutely NO excuse to smell on any flight. The airport is a shopping mall!! You can literally try every single perfume.

Hi Jamie. We flew Maleth to Antigua for a 2 week cruise. The flight was terrible! 2.5hrs check in & 8hr delay!!!! P&O would have nothing to do with it & just refered us back to Maleth. 1drink with the "so called" meal, cramped seating. We will never fly cruise with P&O again ( we are top tier, cruisers) while they use Maleth, SHOCKING!

We flew on the 9th December 23. We were offered 3 drinks in 9 hours! We could not eat the food as it was terrible. If we had to rate out of 10 we’d rate the experience at -10. If anyone I’d thinking of a cruise with this airliner you’ll regret it!

After 8 cruises with P&O we eventually realised the product they sell you and reality were becoming further and further apart. We lost faith in them over several issues. We did one final short cruise with them before planning to book an expensive holiday hoping they'd improved, yet again it fell short so we moved onto another line to spend our money with for future cruises. P.S. You cannot deny they are good value but corners are being cut big time and not necessarily in the right places. It's a lottery.

They dont pay their crew and do not respect the contracts plus the aircrafts are foulty, they lost 2 contracts in one year cose of this...

P and O are screwing everything down now. They are cutting everything and frankly they are very poor quality now . Ships are unclean, customer service is terrible, and food quality is poor. I have over 200 nights with them and now no more. They dont care now.

Just read that P and O are regretting contract with Maleth Aero very basic flight and unreliable obviously to save money ,it will backfire on them .

I know they struggled getting charter flights but there are other options they could offer to customers too

We Canceled and lost 700, not enough people willing to join together to fight p&o over this matter
