Alright, this one definitely lived up to the hype of everyone going on about how difficult this was the past 2 months. I was thinking it was likely just overhyped, but it turned out to be the opposite. It's by far the hardest boss in the game to take no damage on so far, and probably the hardest in the series so far. The combo attack she does took me a long time to figure out how to avoid it properly, but once I did the approach i used was very consistent as shown in the video here. The rest was just learning when I could actually attack without being punished. That, and trying to break the habit of trying to stagger the boss in the middle of her attack animations. It's the one boss in the game where even if you have enough jump or Unsheathe attacks to trigger the critical hit, half of the animations will still continue. I used that approach on a lot of bosses, so I just had to break that habit.
Overall it's an epic fight though. The video also got to include all of the attacks in it, so I'm happy to see them all. And as always, I'm looking forward to when they even harder bosses for the Elden Ring DLC, whenever that is.
Game progression: I'll be progressing through the game naturally, trying to find all the side-dungeons and bosses along the way, and post them as I go. I won't be farming for levels or materials, but at the same time I won't be actively avoiding them to keep under level either. There may be some bosses I miss along the way and come back to later, or naturally I might end up stronger for some fights compared to others as I progress. I'll be uploading all bosses, so some will obviously be a lot easier than others. The strategies I show will work regardless of level or upgrades though, as shown by all the previous FromSoftware boss fights uploaded on the channel. Feel free to check those out too! By this stage, I did end up actively avoiding leveling up for around 60 bosses in total, and I haven't farmed anything in between.
Repeat bosses: There's quite a few repeat bosses in different zones that are essentially the same fight, but I'll still be uploading each individual one to show the location of them. As I'll eventually have a no damage all bosses compilation, I want to include every single one, even if they are repeats. It does mean some will appear multiple times without significant differences to them, but I'd rather just have each of them individually on the channel to show the locations, rather than pick or choose a single one to upload and skip the rest.

GG. This is one of those fights where I know what to do and how to dodge everything, then I get in there and my brain turns to soup and my thumbs turn to noodles.

She was easy for me. I just look up stuff on google and then I was able to beat her on my second try, I like to think of it as a cheat code and break it down However I find that very unenjoyable which is why I don't really like Elden ring. The combat is just too wacky and clunky For me And the exploration isn't anything special either. Nor the graphics maybe I'm missing something But I don't really see anything unique about Elden ring that Other games have already done much better. A decent game ig. It's not worth your time to beat malenia If you haven't already beaten her ofc

Not to discredit the fight, but not exactly that hard when hes doing 10% of her hp per hit. Add the fact that she didnt use the move where sprites fly out at you the whole of the battle “the most annoying to completely dodge”, & the wow factor disintegrates somewhat.

i just came from beating her and after spending all day with her, i knew there were people who not only defeated her but did it without suffereing any damage. That is too much for me jajaj great congrats !!
Amazing fight eso, this is my first souls game and I just beat malenia last night thanks to you. Few days ago got the unsheathed ash of war ur using, threw all my armour off so I could dodge with light load, no summons and finally finished the job. I couldn’t have dont it without you. Now I can return to normal life, as an Elden lord

I'm still trying to beat her, without gimics or summons. Turns out my build is very similar and I'm basically trying the unsheathe her to death like a pro samurai swordman. And heres you with a fraction of the health I have and not even needing it. Well played Sir.

I can only imagine the frustration of getting these right. Just imagine putting the boss to like 5 health only to get poked before the killing blow. I would literally be pulling my hair out over that.

I was at odds for a long time with Malenia, because I'm not used to seeing themes I like being brought to light in a character, but Malenia is definitely a good character.
The ability to bot get greedy with that last hit was incredible

I also went into this fight thinking she was a tad overhyped. I beat her in under 20 attempts, but it came right down to the wire on a number of occasions. Around about my 12th run, I could practically do all of phase 1 hitless, but I couldn't for the life of me pin down Waterfowl Dance. I was only able to finish her off by accepting the health tax and focusing on countering literally everything else as close to perfectly as I could manage. Malenia deserves her reputation. She would likely be my favorite boss in any Soulslike game if I didn't feel quite so helpless once the whirlwind of death starts barreling at me.

Level 160, Morgott's sword, Crucible Tree armor, Dragoncrest Greatshield talisman, a bunch of HP boosting talismans, and Morgott's great rune. I seriously just made myself as tanky as possible so that I'd have more room to experiment. Once I knew her moveset, I started playing a bit more aggressively to minimize the chances of her throwing one too many waterfowl dances my way. My execution in phase 2 could do with a bit more polish overall, but that's what NG+ is for I suppose.

Glad to see this ash of war is still as good dmg as it was year ago (with alexander talisman and RTSR, blue dancer). I'm getting a feeling it's the best weapon to fight her after trying almost everything else. Even tho i'm not a katana-fan, this video convinced me it's surely worth trying to use them. Thx very much.

Was inspired by you to use no spells, buffs, physick, overpowered ashes of war...... took like 100 tries (I'm bad) but killed her with an uchigatana and it was the most satisfying thing I've done in the game so far...... great no-hit run keep up the great gaming!!!!
The amount of rage Malenia must be going through is astronomical cause she didnt get to touch you not one time during her first fight and turn up mode.
Genuinely great job dude! But i love when people add no parry as if it doesn't take tons of practice to get the timings. Not to mention its 3 parrys to get a single stagger on this boss

I think it’s beachside a lot of people are looking for/like to see fights where people are dodging attack patterns. It obviously takes skill to parry, but you also don’t need to learn some attacks if you just parry them

I like the fact that using a summons actually hurts you if not done correctly. But I wish the game let you have quickstep as an option at any time in place of left hand shield or arms grace…

I run a strength/faith build and definitely can't move that fast. I beat her today but took a little bit of damage. I found rushdown works wonders against her with Mimic Tear summon

On average waterfowl dance will trigger once on 1st phase and once on 2nd phase. If you are lucky, waterfowl can occur 3x on phase 1, and she also rarely do waterfowl as first move on 2nd phase, after the bloom attack of course. Also frost pots can help interrupt the waterfowl but will need to get used to timing as pots can also pass thru her some times. As long as she is up on the air, throw the pots immediately. This is why i kept it at 1st quick tool bar slot.
How do you get the cutscene after facing her more than once? The cutscene plays, but there's the dead tree in the arena inside already lol.

7:25 One of the coolest (and most intimidating) shots I've ever seen was dodging that final attack by an inch and seeing this giant rotten lady, welding a giant katana, bursting towards me like a lightning bolt and coming to a halt, taking up half my screen (except the lightning bolt was a semi truck going from 120 to 0 in a second)
