Even after Malcolm explained why he had to put every answer in proper context to reduce any chance of being misquoted and misunderstood, the guy argued that he had no such intention, and his questions were "simple questions" then proceeded to misquote Malcolm, seemingly to entrap him.

Man, I was only 9 and 1/2 years old at the time, but I remember THIS interview. I've admired Malcolm X all my life. Few people practice what they preach and far fewer have the tenacity to face the ignorance of eyes that "...refuse to see".

Always loved how straightforward Malcolm X was. No sugarcoating, no allowing narratives to get spun, always remaining calm while getting his point across.

This is a teaching moment.. Brother Malcolm show you that you don't need to be loud or be cursing to make your point in front of people who are in denial about the obvious facts.... Whoever killed this man or gave the order has to know they never touch his spirit or his soul.. Malcolm x is forever alive.. I love this man..

Im probably one of them, because to me it sounded like he wanted to listen, asked critical questions, but all with respect and dignity. Not everything Malcom said is rationally right (especially coming from his religion and hatred against anything not black), just as Barry. It's interesting to me, how people just accept everything from what either side says.

You should go listen to or read on Marcus Garvey (Jamaican) during the 1920s - 1930s. He talked it Walked it and Did it. Now this is the man who was the most impressive (of the 3 M's); yet he was belittled and taken down by US Feds with the help of many then Negro Americans. This story is a damn shame! Malcolm NEVER lets his words or position gets manipulated or twisted. His intellect and ability to remain calm in the face of divisive reporters is a aspect I truly admire and study. Its clear why he was a threat to the Anglo-Saxon structure.

Brilliant, courageous, and certainly the most electric personality ever to come out of the United States. Denied his dream of becoming a lawyer by a racist society, he became the greatest prosecutor in American history, indicting the U.S. for crimes against humanity before a world audience. After watching the Netflix special, “Who Murdered Malcolm X”, It’s amazing he was killed by his own people, backed by the government and after exposing the Nation of Islam as a tool and not really about fighting white supremacy. And despite the fact that we kill each other, we the killer walked in our mist without fear and only died recently a natural death, while two innocent men rotted in prison. Malcolm’s murder also got a hero’s funeral. That tells you that our status is only window dressing.

I was very troubled by how disrespectful this interviewer was toward Malcolm. How dare he tell him "you should be ashamed of yourself." Really? I'd never heard this interview before, and so never heard an interview where Malcolm was being so verbally hedged in, interrupted, and talked down to. They never really got to talk about how his meeting with Fidel Castro went. Overall, Malcolm showed how arrogant and hypocritical Western journalists were/are. This guy had the audacity to try to corner Malcolm over calling a negro reporter a "negro reporter", as if Malcolm and men like him were responsible for creating racial problems by identifying someone's race. I appreciated that Malcolm was able to flip this trick back on the interviewer when talking about the Congo, and all of the so-called benevolent presidents the interviewer identified as trying to "help the cause of the negro." He was considered dangerous because he was intelligent, self disciplined, was not able to be bribed, distracted, addicted to drugs, alcohol or women. I some what agree with what you are saying. But…… Malcolm and Martin had very different views on the evolvement of the black race. Malcolm wasn’t a violent man either but their goal was the same.

I believe we are not meant to coexist. Culture and ethnicity in my opinion should be kept separate to grow and evolve. We have oceans, deserts and mountains to keep us separated. So much of human history and development has been lost to imperialism and greed.

James Patrick: separation will fuel greed and imperialism and is what the elites want for everyone so they can stay in power (divided we fall). "True Unity" is what will destroy the evil elites power, that's why they go out of their way to create differences (religion, sex culture, color, politics, age differences etc..)among people so we don't come together and figure out who and what the true enemy and how to destroy it. I got to say...Denzel Washington gave an INCREDIBLE performance in Malcolm X movie, even Denzel's voice is about a breath away from Malcolm X in tone, and if I close my eyes, I can see Denzel. He did phenomenal job at mimicking speech and tone, and Denzel's voice is almost exact to Malcolm X. It's really incredible!

Sadly his fate was sealed when he realized it was pointless expecting to win in the fight for civil rights in this country. He decided to make it known globally that human rights were being violated, something the UN is supposed to be against. This kind of embarrassment, globally, would have made America's offical position of being against civil rights violation from other nations ring hollow. The combination of being for the betterment of his people, his intelligence, honest nature, determination were examples they did not want to become contagious and spread or inspire. One of the most impactful lines, for me, from one of the movies on the subject was when some white guy of authority said "there won't be another one unless we create him". Something Malcolm warned of in a speech in the late 50's, I want to say. Then we got Obama, who was groomed by Henry Kissinger for politics. Prophetic if ever anything was.

This Interview goes in circles.. 1. Bernard Yaroslaw asks Malcolm a question 2. Malcolm answers the question, then corrects terminology for context sake 3. Bernard "perceives" it as nuance, then gives a passive aggressive rebuttal 4. All to say Malcolm has strayed from topic. WTF?? Ive noticed this tactic by interviewers of this day, while speaking with civil rights leaders. Tie up as much time as possible with combative nuanced questioning to pick a "fight" so to speak.. in a not so obvious way..

Anytime ppl across the world think of NOI they think of Malcolm X. And that is what the envious ones in that org hated. Watch netflix documentary. Malcolm was upright and was for his ppl like Garvey, not just the NOI members. They can never take his legacy away from him his light was shining for all to see.

This was intellectual boxing. Malcom X is one of the most articulated figures of the second half of the 20 century. Simply impressive.

To know your history is a powerful thing in which evolves growth a key in showing love...

This interviewer was inadequate in his questions and understanding. He was insolent in trying to dispute Malcolm’s explanation of his questions. Minister should have received an award for his time spent with this man. A Medal of Honor!

Malcolm X, makes me proud, and gives me hope, that we as a people can achieve and overcome anything that we put our minds to, but of course, until we unite, and come together as a people, only then will we have the power to advance.

Muhammad's Mosque is still there and Malcolm X believed in Allah as he was A Muslim Follower of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad. Islam comes after all else fails. It was Islam that brought attention to Malcolm X.

It pains me to hear Malcolm frustrated in difficult interviews but he does not fold and he also answers intelligently. The quick come backs and constant switch between offense and defense is so cool. 2 things from his book that this problem reminds me of is his time he spent in prison, he spent along time in the debate classes and got good there. The 2nd is Alex (editor for the book) quoted a women after one of his speeches at a Mosque, she said "Oooh he burnt that white man! Burnt him up!".

I must agree. He was thrown off by the accountability aspcet of Ella's situation in contrast to Sidney's. IMO - The nuance that caused the issue is that the system is INDIRECTLY responsible for her lack of acumen to discern a good money manager from a bad one...

Malcolm was a roaring fire of truth in this interview! I must say the interviewer Barry Gray would go toe to toe with Malcolm in his questioning (and comedic, sometimes sarcastic remarks, as the white culture practices) but every time from beginning, middle, until the end of this interview, Malcolm X would depict Truth over feelings.
