Malcolm straight up turned up to the place of work he got fired from, ruined his successor’s career, got his old job back, got the prime minister to call a snap election and stopped a senior minister from quitting in four minutes all whilst dressed like he was going for a pleasant walk around Hampstead Heath

Ever heard of observational cinema? That's the camera technique used in this show. The audience know this show is filmed by people holding cameras but the characters just ignore it like all TV characters. Presumably the situation was similar to how it was in season 4 when Nicola ended up resigning; anyone who's willing to de-stabilise the leader would have been welcome even if they are obnoxious and think saying someone's face is gaunt is a compliment. Not sure why Dan would particularly want to launch a leadership bid at that point being as an election would have needed to be called within a few months and he'd been in a prominent Cabinet role since Spinners and Losers (it seems unlikely that him replacing Tom would have come across as anything other than obnoxious given the apparent state of the economy at the time too).

Once again some non Brits think foul language is something squeamish, when really it's part of an evolved wordplay. Shakespeare himself coined several novel curses and insults and sometimes a heartfelt fuck is the only fucking word that will do the bloody job properly. It's the non swearers I worry about. What kinda shit are they bottling up? Start banning words it's a slippery slope to burning books and the thought police. The freedom to swear enables the freedom not to swear. In the context of this show it's actually correct (many insiders of the culture it's parodying alleged it was too tame) and bloody funny. Besides it wasn't all eff bombs across the whole episodes. This is just the highlights. Don't take life so seriously it's shit enough as it is and you ain't getting out a fucking live and once you are dead the odd bollocks ain't going to be pissing you off any more. I would leave you with some of Shakespeare's finest, but trust me, whilst not as blunt as the above liberally littered litany of louche words they are actually far worse in many aspects and definitely cut to the quick with much more of a venomous sting. So that's another classic you would abhor!
