This should be interesting. I was a huge fan of Malcolm, listened to most of his audio books and Revisionist History, then I watched him debate Matt Taibbi and Douglas Murray and watched him lie, be rude and condescending to both. Not sure if I was naive before or if he changed, but I lost most of the respect I had for him watching that Monk debate

I posted this comment prior to the episode. I have a different view on things having watched the full episode. While I don't feel any different from what I wrote earlier, I realize I had incorrect expectations. I expected more of an interview, but that's not what Jack does from what I've watched of his podcast so far. His podcast is a conversation with a person. He's not a journalist or a debater getting to the bottom of a story, or trying to prove a point. I'd imagine Jack has differences of opinion on various political topics from Malcolm, but there's a reason the old adage of "don't talk politics or religion with family or friends" exists, and in the atmosphere of his podcast, it seems clear to me Jack applies this. @JackCarrUSA - I learned to like Malcolm again, and you reminded me that its fine to not like certain things about a person and still like the person. On a more general scale, its the only way this country can heal, we need to start talking to each other again and remind ourselves we have similarities or at least things that we can like about a person "on the other side". I'd imagine this is a crucial skill in military leadership, since not all of your men and women are going to agree with your political or religious belief. Thanks Man! Great episode!

Love Jack, but can't watch this. Watching the Douglas Murray debate was hard enough. And it wasn't even just that he showed himself to be just like everyone else (not a unique thought in his head) but that he was SO unintelligent about his debating. He could only go back to, "yOuR a RaCIst!" And to think he goes around tauting himself as a thinker.

Thank you for this, Jack! I always appreciate how brilliant, thoughtful and genuine you are. Conversations like these remind me that we are all far more alike than we are different, regardless of our political affiliations. As you note in your books, media (on both sides) plays up those differences to make us angry to watch more, to help them earn advertising $. Conversations like these are how we repair that damage and come together.

Certainly, Gladwell was quite disingenuous when debating media integrity against journalists Matt Taibbi and author Douglas Murray. Still, I don't give a fuck about that since this is not what the conversation is about. If I'm interviewing a celebrity I admire for their acting or athletics, I'm not going to bring up their political BS. Good on Jack for having people who probably doesn't agree ideologically with him, at all, and focusing on other things.
