When I watch this film on DVD it reminds me of the world as it appeared to me as a child. Not much to do, strict post war England and the age of innocent. Well for me that was so. 😇
One of my favourite films, possibly seen as a little naive nowadays, sadly! Arnold's music captures perfectly the poignant nostalgia that comes with recollections of childhood.....
This could easily be part of the BBC 4 occasional slow television series - sublime

Thanks Barry ..... was wondering how it work out, first time I filmed in MP4 format and the last ....... thanks so much for the comment... glad to know it ain't too bad! Regards Jayne Anne
thanks, Jayne, I had forgotten how lovely this is, second only to Arnold's great theme from "David Copperfield."

It is indeed a lovely uncomplicated tune. Like so much of Malcolm Arnold's work, an excellent piece of accompanying film music that stands on its own beyond the silver screen. An amazingly productive composer and underrated like so many composers of this genre.. But transcends into more serious classical styles, always unique, memorably melodic and beautifully orchestrated. Thanks for the comment Deal, there must be room on KZread for many more Malcolm Arnold themed videos....although there are quite a few, and also a thriving Facebook page with a devoted following! Best wishes Jayne Anne.

Exactly, and remains under-appreciated after three complete recorded cycles of symphonies, much of film music, his concerti, chamber music, etc. I know he was a difficult man, but he deserves better.
Awesome theme! CHEERS! Hugs & Kisses to Jayne for posting this! There is a film about Malcolm Arnold that I read about online. But now I can't find it? Do you know or anyone else know the title. Thanks!
Any other contribs Jayne ?--Go on and Strutt your stuff. As a child of the 40's and 50's, I and my siblings would not only wade through fields like this , looking for Butterflies ( there were millions of 'em then) but it was part of our route to school. What a shame there is not butterflies seen here in this idylic scene.
Pleasant, but can't match the original soundtrack recording.
There is yet another version of this on YT.
