Lucky you on your up grade Looks like a good flight and food looked good and you had a good sleep too

Just stumbled onto this video, there is DEFINITELY something shady going on if you were always served an economy class meal while sitting in business. Upgrade, or fully-purchased Business class ticket, there is no difference. No other airline would pull something like this. You sit in business class, you get a business class meal/service. I'm shocked that you just calmly accepted it, and I'm even more offended (on your behalf) that the crew on this flight were so cheeky to not provide you the complete business class experience.

I was only told after takeoff, and there were no more business class meals left, as they were not intending for me to be in business class. I was definitely disappointed, but I didn't mind too much though, as I was surprised I even got upgraded in the first place.

There's nothing shady about this - it's a well known issue within Malaysia that was unfortunately flew under the radar of most that's not from Malaysia :^) the company that provides the catering service for Malaysian Airline suddenly "stopped doing their contract" with Malaysian airline without providing a heads up for the company, which resulted to the food service you see in that video. They only managed to restore the catering service for the airline in November 2023, 3 month after this flight. You can assume all you want, but your assumption is merely worthless since this was a widely broadcasted scandal in Malaysia which not many news outlet outside of this country would bother to cover it - thus prompting the kind of negative-presumption comment like yours :v

I think the crew reserved d extra biz class meal for themselves..illogical for them not to hv at least one extra

@@gattonero2915 ur talking as if thing i said nvr happened?? We all knew abt d catering prob and crew reserving biz class meals for themselves similarly happened! Unless u were the dispatcher on tht flight even nonsense u said can be questioned!

Hope you enjoyed the upgrade it was a shame that you did not get the business class hospitality. So are you going to do the return journey. I look forward to your next journey.

I don't go back to malaysia till April. I will upload a few takeoffs and landings, but I don't have any trip reports yet

Hmm to get an upgrade then served economy meals never seen it happen on other oneworld airlines

Yup, if this is standard operating policy by the airline that upgrades don't receive the full business class service then this airline deserves to go bankrupt immediately. It is bizarre and offensive behaviour.

Hmm..I find it strange that an upgrade didn’t come with an upgraded meal. Didn’t sound very generous!

Well, the seat definitely was a great experience

Food and beverages served on malaysia airlines is fairly good but the Bun is a nightmare. I enjoyed the Bun served on Turkish airline

Last time I was upgraded to business class with Emirates, they served business class food. It was unacceptable for MH to serve economy class food for you.

Compare this small medium airline with the giant Emirates is totally unfair.

It's a pity they didn't offer you a meal from business class, especially since all the leftover, unserved meals usually end up being thrown away, such a third class mentality of crew/airline. Even if it’s a free upgrade, just politely decline their upgrade offer and say No, Thank you.

Totally agree that MA we’re very petty not to give you the business class meals as it was their fault for overbooking the flight in the first place, which is a very common practice within the airline industry. Never liked that they do this. Surprised the air hostesses didn’t just serve you the business class meals as they will just be discarded if not used during the flight. But much more comfortable experience than economy so I wouldn’t decline the offer.

I was a flight attendant for more than 20 yrs for a german airline. If the flight was overbooked then they had a full catering loaded. Serving an economy class meal to someone seated in the business class is an absolute NO GO ! The crew ate the busines class meal themselves. What a shame. Thanks for letting us know. I will never fly MH again !
