EA3201s has one, but important issue. When used extensively the saw may develop a fault of the rubber dampener which holds the carburetor. The solution to this issue is to cut out a new one from the rubber mount of car's exhaust (this rubber has better oil resistance and vibration resistance quality.) The left hand side carburator damper usually affected, after 5-10 times of use. Once fixed this problem goes away. The fault developed on two separate Makita chain saws after approximately 10 runs. If left unfixed this will lead to damage of the carburetor after a certain time and the overall vibration will increase. Otherwise it is a great tool, it is lightweight and starts predictably, great for light to medium work and has a catalytic converter which reduces fumes greately. With the proper maintenance and care this is a reasonably reliable workhorse for most of the small to medium bush clearing and cutting jobs. Surprisingly the tension mechanism held up well after a very long period. Despite it is lightweight chainsaw the work on any heights is prohibited by instruction. The chain on this saw if it gets dislodged accidentally has a tendency to damage the plastic stopping pin on the cover, one option to reduce greately the possibility of such a damage is to cut 1.5cm plastic garden hose and put it over the protruding plastic pin. Chain bar oil leaks but it seems minimal from this saw when the engine is not running and stoped after 15min. Primer lines would benefit from the small zip ties around them to hold them more securely. Makita unfortunately ignores the messages from the customers but the overall quality of materials makes this a good tool anyway and it has a reasonable price, though there are some parts of this otherwise great chainsaw can be slightly improved. Maximum trea size this saw cut successfully was 40cm larger size required a bit of effort but was also ok

I've had the smaller 3201s for 7 years and have only ever replaced the bar and chain in that time. It's copped a flogging over those years cutting dense dry hardwood logs 2ft in diameter and hasn't missed a beat. Awesome entry level chainsaw.

Having looked at Makita 32cc and DCS 500, I have decided to buy the larger one.My question is ; Should I buy DCS 500/45, or wait for DCS5121 which is to arrive at our local store later on this year ?. Very nice what's the smallest size cause I have a Stihl in McCullock I'm reagine ranger a plugged in but I would try a Makita chainsaw

I've used Stihl and Husqvarna saws for 35 years with no complaints. I recently purchased a little (22cc?) Makita saw as a backup to the larger Stihl and I must say I'm very impressed with the little Makita. OK its not in the same league as the Stihl but it's terrific for it's size, weighs less than 3kg and starts up second pull every time; what more could you ask for? I'll be interested to see how difficult it is to get parts in the years to come. Stihl and Husqvana only keep an inventory of parts for ten years after a model runs out.

+Allan Wells The higher end Makitas are in the same area as stihl/husky they are made in Germany Dolmars. lower end Makitas are very comparable to lower end stihls/HUskys all of which are ok saws but none of which are really the real deal

Hi! Listen... a friend of mine got a Kubota (KUBOTA!!!????) one hand chainsaw for pruning and palm tree jobs... and it´s the most technically advanced chainsaw I´ve ever seen. Light, powerfull and clean, nicer than 200 and 201 and 192 and 193 Stihls. Problem is... dealer support

Actually no... dolmar is owned by makita. Makita saws were like this before dolmar. They bought dolmar and then changed dolmar to match makita.

it's a pity they didn't push the dolmar brand more.ah that's business.hard to beat the original dolmar saw.

I have looked for accesories for makita saws but have never found anything what other saws are they universal with??? Bars and chains??? I would love to own one but have yet to see any dealers its either echo stihl husqvarna etc...

These are often rebadged dolmars. Particularly the larger ones. There's a reason you see echo, stihl and Husqvarna. Because makitas, especially the smaller ones..... won't be the same quality as the other ones you mentioned.

Dolmar was a older company thatd been around since the 1920s. Theyve been bought and sold a few times throughout the years and are now owned by makita. Their saws are top notch and can run with the best. You can order lightweight bars from places like baileys online, but no one that I know of makes any different felling dogs or anything for them. I've got a makita dcs520i that was built in 97 that runs great,save for a damaged clutch brake band. Parts have to be ordered online because dealers are nonexistant, but if you dont mind that they're great.

The spring assisted pull starters are less durable and I don’t really care for them. You just gotta make sure not to drop start the saw or pull on the rope way too far etc. they aren’t too bad if you just take it easier on them. Makita saws look cool I just wonder how tough it is to get the parts for a niche chainsaw brand.

Makita never spent 50 cents on their electric stuff... but im blown away by makita saws. I have one from before dolmar. Makita is the one that made dolmar worth a crap. Yes.... i know, i never thought id live to see the day i said something good about makita.

@@vinceking7878 theyre good for backyard stuff and small jobs. But so is a sawzall. Doesnt mean theyre good equiptment. Try climbing a tree and being up there for 6-8 hours cutting hardwood with a saw just good enuff to cut cedar. Worthless. Sure theyre better than what most other home owners use, like old worn down homelites and poulans, giving you the impression theyre generally very good... but to someone who has used actual good chainsaws... the electric chainsaws made by any manufacturer are worthless. Same goes for their other electric tools. If all u ever owned was junk... your going to think a step up is amazing. However. I love makita gas powered equipment. Their saws compete with echo. Dolmar in some models, are even tougher. I climb with dolmar saws.

Tho electric tools have come along pretty good. They're still not up to par with gas. And id rather have a cheap ass dewault then makita for power tools

they are dolmar chainsaws makita didn't make shit, and dolmars are the best chainsaws made. number one in germany, not stihl which has gotten worse and worse over time.

My Makita is a piece of junk burns through fuel waaaaaaayyyyyy too fast and also I was having trouble with the revs I tried to take it back to get my money back but found out that Makita has a one year limited warranty so if they want to give you your money back they can but they don't like to and wont as that's the catch. Also my grandmother can pedal harder than my Makita can cut wood. Just get a push bike put it over the log and get granny to sit on it and pedal and in about three hours your log will be cut. Makita Chain saw put fuel in it start and no guts. I put more fuel through it than I cut timber not made for Australian Market maybe for countries that don't need firewood as a necessity!

I think most chainsaws are decently good, Stihl, Husqvarna, Dolmar, Mc Culloch, Makita, even Hitachi, Ryobi... but dealer´s support makes a big difference when you are a pro and need your machines to be profiteable. And that´s where Stihl beats everyone.

+79pejeperro your spot on with your comments! !!! it depends a lot on who your local deal stocks !!!because if you cant just pop down and get what you need whats the point ! but i personally try to stay away from stihl nowdays from past problems ive had and seen with others !!! and also letdown promises from stihl dealers !!! they are though good saws nowadays and they seemed to have address a lot of issues they had !!! but for me its husky all the way !!! much much more bang for your buck !!! there are videos everywhere where husky just outcut anything in there same size class !!! that may mean they will break down a touch earlier who knows !!!

In my land Stihl has the best custom service so... but as I said, all saws are good. I prefer long lasting engineering, rather than fast but fragile saws

I'm just saying that a few people have said husky don't last quite as long but I personally have never had a problem with them at all !!!! been using them for years !!!! and all the sleeper cutters around our area converted to the husky !!!! aussie red gum sleepers that is as well !!!! they say they get much better performance and value out of them !!!! but yes depends on who your dealer deals with !!!! all saws are good as long as you get the good ones and not cheap rubbish !!!!!

Makita means boat anchor not buying any tools that Makita makes unless I need a boat anchor they are now a useless company! Once they were awesome now they are nothing!

If you do a little research, you'll realize Dolmar has been making saws longer than both Stihl and Husky. Each saw is assembled by a single person start to finish, can you say the same about stihl or husky?

You can find the 50cc saws online for around $500. Their 60cc saw is a good bit more powerful and only about $100 more.
