In this episode tools with SoAlz brings you the very best tool testing as we expose the Makita XGT as overpriced, underperforming, and underpowered. Makita's XGT 40v impact driver is the worst impact driver on the market today! We not only show it but we also tell you of the hidden danger this tool possesses. The Makita XGT 40v impact driver will face off against the Milwaukee 2953 M18 impact driver, the Metabo 18v Triple Hammer, and the Flex Tools quick eject impact driver. This raw and uncut tool test allows you to clearly see just how far Makita has fallen behind other professional level tools like Milwaukee's M18, Flex, and Metabo HPT.
Makit'a continued inability to innovate has begun hurting their sales to the point where they have been forced to permanently close two manufacturing plants. If this trend continues Makita will no longer be found on any job site.

If I wasn’t heavily invested in Hilti/Milwaukee, I’d definitely be giving Metabo HPT a go

That was the compact Flex? Not the quick eject big boy? If so, that Makita is way slow, because that compact Flex is not very powerful.

You’ll save a fortune on batteries too. I know I’m beating a dead horse, but I just can’t fathom how much Makita charges for batteries.

You mean "Metabo HPT"? You're comparing the most reliable battery packs in the industry (Makita) to one of the least reliable (Hikoki/Koki/Metabo Hpt/Hitachi Koki). I use their nail guns. We have nothing but issues with the Hitachi/Metabo HPT batteries. Ironically, actual Metabo batteries are rock solid despite akward locking mechanism and weird issue with the LED blinking on the tool that they haven't fixed in all of these years.

I have seen enough videos to know that the Makita 40v impact driver isn't much better than the 18v version. It just has more settings and a bigger battery. Supposedly, the 40v drill is a big improvement over the 18v version, but that didn't last very long on this channel either. If anyone is really determined to buy Makita, it's probably best to get the 18v.

Still love my OG Hitachi Triple Hammer--other impacts are faster but none is finer to use. Don't know about cordless but okd+school corded Makita tools (15a AVT recip, belt sanders, circ saws, etc.) work great in my experience.

You’re trolling, right? Go to a real tool store and visit their repair department. Or just grab a couple of screwdrivers and see for your self. To posit that, on average, the Makita would die before the other three is beyond farcical. Both the manufacturing quality and the cost of the parts is MUCH higher on the Makita vs the others. I would go as far as saying that the Milwaukee is manufactured poorly (bad solder joints, pinched wires, gear case isn’t even held together, stator looks like it was hand made by a small child, bearings of the cheapest variety). Koki/Hikoki/Metabo HPT is designed to be manufactured and sold cheaper than their Japanese competition. I can’t speak on that particular Chervon. It could go both ways with them. When all four of those do need repair out of warranty, you’re going to have issues getting parts from Hikoki and Chervon, you won’t be able to afford the assemblies Milwaukee sells instead of individual parts and zero issues reliably obtaining the exact part you need for the Makita. I hate Makita as a company (especially Makita USA). I think they’re managed by idiots. Their cordless nailers and multi-tools suck. Their XGT product launch schedule has no rhyme or reason to it. But they’re the only box store brand making professional tools and not throwaway consumer goods. Bosch could earn that title but they happily make cheap junk alongside their quality products and you can imagine what store’s like Lowe’s prefer to carry.

@@ToolswithSoAlz Sure. Meanwhile you're dogging on Makita impacts. If not the best in the industry, certainly the most precise by a longshot. Move the bit around in all of those impacts. Guess which one can be used anywhere a Festool drill would be applied? Everybody knows that Dewalt and Milwuakee are ahead on power with just about everything. We also know that they're going to burn out qucker than anything else. The milwaukee switch will go bad because of the poor soldering and you can't buy it on it's own. The dewalt usually the control module goes first and you're lucky if you have two of the same model that function the same when you're on the identical settings. I don't have anything bad to say about the Flex other than the fact they pulled everything off the shelf for a while over the battery issues. I'm fine with Hikoki not being built like something that sells for twice as much, but I'm not ok with constantly rebuying their wonky batterries for nailers I barely use.

@@ToolswithSoAlz I mean, I literally said I hate Makita as a company. They probably have me on a list somewhere due to all of the abuse I hurl their way. Instead of reps, they send bimbos in latex. Instead of reaching out to their customers, they scold you for constructive criticism. Instead of having locally sourced upper management, they head each region with a Japanese fish out of water and shift them around the globe every couple of years. The people running each division have zero opportunity to learn about the country they’re in before they’re shipped off to yet another foreign region. They’ve earned their past thirty years of consistent failure here. Their products are still built better than the likes of Metabo HPT and Milwaukee. Likewise, Milwaukee’s desire to cheap out on manufacturing doesn’t change the fact they’ve earned all of their recent success under TTI. They always have boots on the ground . They’re really good at being first to market because they bother to ask what customers need and expedite a solution to the market. They might not get it right until the second or third “gen”, but at least they don’t leave customers hanging while focusing on cordless microwaves. There’s nuance to everything. I digress, you’re just roping me in to boost your engagement with your comments.

These screws aren't getting up to 750° which is the minimum temperature one would have to get it to in order to lose temper. That being said, you can heat them up to the point where it expands any weaknesses in the fastener. That's why we have shown an impact driver snapping several fasteners.

Bosch finally remembered that they're a tool company. They've made consistent improvements recently. Fein switching to Bosch batteries is a huge boon. You could be satisfied with them. The newer circular saws aren't anything to write home about but they aren't terrible. Their non budget tools are built pretty much as well as Makita and Metabo (actual Metabo, not Metabo HPT) and Panasonic/Hilti made Hilti. I dumped Bosch for Makita years ago out of anger but I acknowledge how they've made a huge effot to turn around. Makita make great stuff, but Hilti stole my business from them during the Nuron launch for a reason. Took them a whole four years to bring out a simple jigsaw for their new platform only for it to feature all of the same horrible things that their customers complained about on the 18v models.

Oh I have that Bosch impact driver. It's definitely better than the Festool impact driver. It's been a while since I had the Festool in but I remember thinking lowly of it. Precise control ala Makita and dare I say Dewalt impacts. If you're using an impact driver like an impact wrench, then it won't come near Milwaukee/Dewalt. That said, Bosch now make a great mid torque and full torque impact wrench. About the drills though. Their around 500 inch lb drills are precise and have electronic clutches. Meanwhile, the mega beast is a great drilling machine but absolutely unmanagable as a driver. But that's why you just buy the new ampshare Fein drills. :0
