This is what I needed! Simple straight forward how to solution. No more scrubbing the heck out of plants. And hopefully it helps with other decor as well. I'll give it a try. Thanks!
Way better Ben

The problem with 4K is you get every blemish and wrinkle 🤣🤣🤣
Thank you so much for answering my question. I was extremely reluctant about using bleach for cleaning plant decorations. I will now try it with my plants this weekend. Thank you.
Many years ago (1960s) I’m not sure but I think plastic plants were fairly new then ..I always bleached my plastic plants , never ever had a problem, they were really well rinsed many times afterwards..Now I’m back in fish keeping again ..My how it’s all changed, Feels like I’m a beginner all over again .

We have a similar past. I left fish keeping during college and with a job that required a lot of travel. Then I got back into it after my son left for college and I inherited his tank. And the wealth of information and products is 1000x what it was in the 60s.
I think the camera in the mic looks really good
Video quality looks better .
The quality of the video is the same as usual on my phone. But the quality is much better when I stream to my smart TV. I can actually watch in 4k. So Unless you have a high quality smartphone with 4k or close to it I don't think anyone will tell the difference on their smartphone. But saying that the devices are getting better and better all the time and you have really future-proofed your channel. 👍🏻
Video and sound was good! 👍
Voice is really better! Color is good. I clean my plastic elite cichlids every time with this method. I put prime in the rinse water and let them soak and shaking them around some. It has never caused me a problem.
Immediately before you even spoken I realised there is a difference! Even the audio. I then saw your lava lav mic and then you said you’re using new equipment. :)
Video really nice mate . Not noticing audio differences
It looks like you are in the same room with me and the audio is without cracks, pops or hisses! Nice upgrade
Audio & video quality are very good, Ben. 👍📺
Ben, The Video and the How to clean your plants was spot on! Audio and video looked great for sure. See you at the give away.

Wow, many thanks for this video. I've thrown so many out in the past as I couldn't get clean, fantastic info
Hi Ben your sound is great picture looks good and your plants look fabulous. I just have a question what books do you recommend for ciclid identification? .
Video looks much better but audio is leaps and bounds better!!!
Picture and audio perfect.............both well balanced. Enjoyed the message...good tip.

Thank you Brian.
All is great
Sound was great video about the same as normal Ben
Hey Ben, from what I've seen bleach is more common for plastic and a heavily diluted mix of peroxide and water in a spray bottle is more for large leaf slow growing live plants such as anubius that are commonly not planted and can be removed. I personally wouldn't risk my fish over black algae on anubius but I have seen it done. I believe Aquapros has a video on it but would have to go pretty deep into his videos to find it.
Hello your video ( image and sound is perfect) Can you do the same cleaning process for your rock?? . Thank you.
@BenOchart
4 жыл бұрын
I really don't see why it wouldn't work on rocks. But some rocks can have reactions to certain things, like I've heard that some rocks break apart when boiled, for example. But because I'm using such small amounts (two cap fulls in a 5 gal bucket) it should be pretty gentle. Just be sure to rinse well, scrub, soak in water conditioner for 24 hours, then put back in your tank.
Hello Ben I do the same with my purigin
Video is much more crisp Ben and audio is good much better great tip for cleaning plants too 🐟🐟

Thank you Andy G!
Definitely better sound and picture quality Ben. It's all very clear and clean. I do the same thing with my plants, they get brown algea, diatoms. Bleach one day, rinse one day. Didn't think of adding the water conditioner, good idea Ben. I'll be adding that to the rinse day, thanks 👍

Hi My Smiley Ben😀💜💙💚 I need to try that..I have fake plants too...which are very hard to clean. Thanks for video 😉

Hello Lflower1 Stars, How have you been. Well I hope! Yes, try this. It worked GREAT for me. Still required a little bit of scrubbing, but so much easier than when I've tried to clean without the bleach step.
Video sound and image look great. Plants came out great look beautiful. I’m going to buy some from Elite cichlids

Ben Ochart thanks for the reminder. Is there a coupon code ?
Oh can I ask how is it best for cleaning wood? In your opinion please?
Video and sound look great. Noticeable upgrade. On the video...how often do you do this kind of plant maintenance? I’m having the same problem with my plants.

Thank you for the feedback. A couple times a year should do it, (unless if your tank is in a window or getting a lot of light).
Hi Ben. I am pleased your process of cleaner your plants turned out well. Do you know of plants that can withstand 85 degree water?
@BenOchart
4 жыл бұрын
Thank you Marty. My plants are plastic and they can stand heat up to the point they melt, which is well above 85 degrees.
Geezus! 1000% different

LOL, hey, you got some fish in this video, right? I'm going to put out a series of 4k fish profiles. One fish per video, with lots of info. What do you thing?
Cannot really comment if the issue of the videos stuttering and skipping frames is gone, since the camera was stationary. It might be the old camera or your video encoding settings. This video was OK quality. The fish in the background seemed out of focus, though.
I just came across this video. I know it's old but if you have a moment I do have a question. Would this method work on those artificial aquarium plants that are kind of silky? I wonder if it would bleach them out as they aren't plastic?
@BenOchart
11 ай бұрын
I wouldn’t do it with the fabric/silk plants. They would lose color. All you can do is scrub them but once they go green or black from algae it’s almost impossible to get them really clean.
Just an opinion I find driftwood looks a lot more natural than plastic plants, does not “steal” so much prime real estate in the tank and when algae grows on wood it looks really good. It also offers great refuge for smaller fish and less aggressive fish to hang out. The look of driftwood can really be dramatic. Driftwood in my aquariums has resulted in some exciting adventures in Arizona reservoirs and Mexican deserts seeking some of the most sought after and indestructible wood types.

Does the wood lower pH?
@HalfManHalfCichlid
4 жыл бұрын
@@BenOchart It my 30 years of using driftwood it has added a brown tint for awhile, but has never changed the pH. If you water is hard, like 70%+ of the water in the US, it has a lot of buffering capacity to off-set any tannic acid that may leach from the wood. May be a good topic for a vid in the future? You know me, I like the natural stuff...
Can you recommend any others sites or stores to get artificial plants like those ? I believe elite cichlids is no longer around … thank you

I saw some nice stuff on eBay, but I haven't bought artificial plants in a long time.
Sounds is fine but video quality still not crisp, not even close to 4k quality
