You gotta do this in 2v2 or 3v3. 1s players are overwhelmingly more consistent than people who main 3s or 2s. You can usually tell if your teammates play 1s at all because they have good game sense

1s players in 3s definitely dont have good game sense. Theyre usually more ball chasey and tend to ignore team plays more so than actual 3s mains. 1s players are more used to playing with less players/no teammates and developed habits to fit that. I don’t know where you got this logic from 😂😂

@@Denileism 1s definitely helps with mechanical consistency and even knowing how to space yourself out when going for challenges and such. It makes you more reliable on certain situations. But doesnt quite do much for rotations in 3s. And thats for all ranks. I cant tell you the amount of 1s players ive come across that simply refuse to play as a team and think theyre the shit cuz they can 1v1 people better. Its totally fine at being good at 1s but to be a good 3s player, they practice on other things as well. It’s why Teams like NRG and BDS are at the top for their perfect balance in those parts. Im just talking about being a 1s main and how you claim that helps with game sense in 3s, which is rediculous to me

@@IsaiasSoldier2 It definitely helps somewhat with game sense, it just doesn't help with rotations. Obviously someone who only plays 3s will have better 3s game sense than someone who only plays 1s. But 1s can help with knowing exactly what your opponents are capable of at every moment, you can take this knowledge and force them to make plays into your teammates.

good idea but i'm assuming you took everyone's 2's rank and put them against that rank of a 1's player, most people are way lower in 1's than 2's so that's not really the same skill level and still at a disadvantage

I agree. Being C2 I'm 1s is much harder than C2 in 2s. 1s rank is generally harder to achieve. And the fact that this is 1s instead of 2s or 3s which is what most players main just makes it even less accurate

People need to understand, sometimes people have off days, sometimes they're tired, sometimes they have other problems, sometimes they genuinely are lagging. The only people I get pissed off with are the idiots who are toxic and think spamming will make me play better, when it actually does the complete opposite. Someone who can't recognise their own mistakes are the ones who need to be banned.

Since some of them are still saying "I wish he was my teammate" or "I'd be this rank with him as my teammate" Now take all of those players and put them in a 2v2 showmatch against opponents who are the same rank to see if they finally take responsibility for their actions

I actually think that 90% of people are exactly at the rank they deserve. It's easy to only realise the bad teammate and not to see when they carry you. The rule of the big numbers give you the same amount of bad teammates as bad enemies. The 10% only comes from the problems of soloqueue (when you keep losing because of the ragequitters at 1:0, and some smurfs), so you can be a little bit lower than your actual skill, but that's just a very tiny difference, and if you play in a premade team of your rank, you can avoid that. I hate when golds or plats say that it's just their teammates' fault they lose. I soloqueued myself to champion in 6 categories (and 1 gc), how is that possible then? Maybe because that's my current skill? :O

Right? I always thought if you can’t consistently carry your teammates every game you deserve the rank you’re in. Top of the scoreboard / hard carry at least 90% of your games. If you can’t carry then you are on the same skill level, not higher. Some people may be better at certain mechanics and bad at others and it balances out into the rank they have. Plus people hyper-focus on the things their teammates aren’t perfect at (especially if they themselves can do those mechanics) and ignore the things their teammates are good at.

​@@Timorias I agree with a lot of what you said (especially the second part) but I disagree with the whole you gotta be able to hard carry 90% of games (or even the majority of games) or else you're on the same skill level as the people in a lobby. It's a team game, so unless the skill gap is considerable (like 3 or 4 ranks at least), there's no guarantee someone will be able to carry just cause they're overall better. I've played with people a few ranks higher than me that were clearly better but their rotations/passes were so different from what I'm used to that we just weren't in sync. Plus, there's play styles too so the scoreboard is not the best indicator of skill either... I'm very passive and patient so if I'm playing with a ball chaser they're most likely gonna be top of the scoreboard simply cause they'll probably be getting more touches than I do. Doesn't mean they're necessarily better (heck, those are usually the easier players to deal with in the enemy team).

I’m higher than the rank I should be. I was up to D3 and i took a break for 2 or 3 months came back and i’ve been losing every game it’s pretty frustrating

How the hell can you be better at ones and higher in rank in your ones than your 2s and 3s, I have NEVER had my 1s rank higher than my 2s or 3s, it’s very rare to even have the same rank. Sure I might be a diamond 1 div 3 in 2s and 3s, and my ones has only peaked at plat 3 div 4.

It’s been that way and no one questions it. Except when I do ones in plat three I get smurfs, people who haven’t played one for a season and a half, or a mechanical god that is terrible at positioning I’m just panicking and can’t cap on them for it quickly enough.

Here's why I disagree. 1. You are basing this comment on the assumption that Striped picked players based off their 2v2 ranks. *Main Players -MrLlamaYT is platinum 2 in 1v1 and 2v2. (Representing Platinum) -TwistyTripod is platinum 1 in 1v1 and diamond 2 in 2v2 (Representing Diamond) -Godlikezeuslol is diamond 3 in 1v1 and champ 2 in 2v2 (Representing Champion) -(I cannot find RetroSpectre on RLTracker) (Representing GC1) *Opponents -Sub 2 hazardkata is platinum 2 in 1v1 and diamond 1 in 2v2 (Representing Platinum) -Mitch is Platinum 2 in 1v1 and Diamond 1 in 2v2 (Representing Diamonds) -Koda cannot be found on RLTracker. The only person who pops up is platinum in everything. (Representing Champion) -Reverb cannot be found on RLTacker. The only two people I found were plats or gold. (Representing GC1) From the players we were able to find, we can see that they are all the same 1v1 rank, but are different 2v2 ranks. Aside from Mitch and TwistyTripod. Ironically, the only game where the challenger won. Twisty is platinum 1 in 1v1 and diamond 2 in 2v2, but Mitch is platinum 2 in 1v1 and Diamond 1 in 2v2. Yet, Twisty won despite his opponent being higher in 1v1s. This means that he picked based off of 2v2 ranks and NOT 1v1 ranks. 2. All of these players (Aside from RetroSpectre) blamed there teammates. -Putting them in a 2v2 would allow them to blame their teammates again. If not verbally, it would allow them to subconsciously believe that if they just had a better teammate they would've won. That's why Striped didn't use 2v2s. -Putting them in a 1v1 would take away the factor of teammates, and make it so that their own skill is being tested. That is why they were chosen off of 2v2 rank, as was their opponents. 3. Even IF Striped picked the Challenging Players off of their 2v2 ranks, why would you assume that he picked the Rank Defenders based on their 1v1 rank? - This is called selective bias. It's when you apply logic to one side, but use a different notion for another side of the argument. Conclusion: *ALL (Listed) players were picked based on their 2v2 Ranks. *They were picked based off their 2v2 ranks, because they blamed teammates (aside from Retrospectre, but he still thought he deserved a higher 1s rank. In the video he states he plays 1v1s the most). *1v1 was the selected mode, because it tested THEIR skill, without allowing a factor like teammates get in the way of evaluation. If you find Koda's, RetroSpectre's, or Reverb's Ranks please tell me and I will update my comment.

Bruh why the long paragraph u say do 1v1 for more skill, more even maybe but 1v1 has a lot more luck involved than other modes besides fumble ofc i think 1v1 os the worst option take myself i managed to get to champ in 2s and 3s yet my 1s rank is only plat 3 u could say its proof i was carried or somthing but in reality i dont play a gamemode that mechanics is a lot more needed if 2 players with a basic game sense pair up in the same rank but 1 has better mechanics chances the others game sense slightly better the mechanics win what im sayin is 1s is completely different gameplay than 2v2 the ones saying their teammates could be passers more defensive etc which would cause them to most likely lose in 1s against an attacking type basically put as myself as an example im champ in the m9des i play but would get ruined in a 1s game by mid diamonds i know that cos my friends is mid to high diamond and he tends to win against me, why, better mechanics

​@@zacmills8752 Your paragraph was nothing but excuses :/ "Oh my teammates can do this for me, so I don't have to know how to do that" You're limiting how far you can go in the game. 1v1's is a test of YOUR skill. If you're a more defensive player, than play more defensively in 1s and score when your opponents make mistakes. If you are aggressive, then be aggressive, and make sure that you don't make basic mistakes. 1v1s is one of the easiest modes to improve in, because all you have to do is better yourself. There is NO luck in 1v1s aside from ping advantage, which doesn't even matter unless you have connection issues. So basically, to summarize your paragraph, you said, "I dont need to learn this, because my teammate can do it. 1v1's is all luck and the more aggressive player always wins. The player with better mechanics wins in 1v1s." Sound about right? 1. Mechanics are not required to win a 1s game. Messing up a mechanic is the number 1 cause of goals in 1s. 2. Saying you don't need to know how to do something because your teammate can is unfair to your teammate, and will stop you from improving at the game. 3. There is NO luck in 1v1s. The only example you could possibly give is connectivity issues, which can be resolved outside the game (that means that connectivity issues are your fault so its still not luck based. And even if it wasn't your fault for connectivity issues, it could affect any other gamemode as well, meaning 1s isn't a lucky mode.)

Ok firstly where do you sit in the rankings gc, diamond? And ok so a kickoff os all skill no matter the variant of kick off u do if u lose it each time thats bad skill? Again i am champ in other modes so i cant be all that bad and my main part of my arsenal is im a solid goalie/defender but in 1s im not the fact is 2s and 1s is a completely different game style attack and defend i have little issues in 2s but in 1s i struggle like mad because as u say im unskilled? Honestly if i can be in champ in the modes i actually play which is what top 10% of the playerbase? Then hardly it comes down to my skill being bad it surely falls on the mode

If u can give me a solid reason to back yourself ill accept it but so far you insult and say mechanics mean nothing in 1s as it causes the mistakes which u capital ise on which is fair but u cant defende everything and when mechanics like resets and stuff are introduced its much harder proof of that is watching higher level players cincede to it

These people will never change. Forever thinking everyone else is the problem while never assessing/analysing their OWN gameplay and mistakes. Imo, that's what really separates the great players from the just better than average players. Great players notice their own mistakes and try to eliminate them going forward. These players never want to admit fault (out of embarrassment?) so never actually learn to stop making these mistakes.

Is it me or does the opponent actually look like the rank above in all the matches?

@@Striped were they actually the same rank in the same mode? I can see a lot of the opponents being at a rank in 1s that the toxic challengers are in 2s or 3s

I feel like one big issue with this is that telling them the other player is higher puts pressure on them - a more accurate test would be to literally just have them 1v1 their own rank knowing they’re the same rank to give them comfort, or even to tell them the other person is LOWER than they are to make them feel even more confident.

The toxic rocket league mentality around plat/diamond/champ is that where players think if their teammates aren’t mechanically skilled and are whiffing etc., then that teammate doesn’t deserve to be in that rank. But if someone on the other team is mechanically skilled and not making many mistakes then that must mean they are smurfing.
