making the most of Sailing the brittish weather

We had it all planned, sailing over the south coast so we could anchor up, all downwind of course and then a quick upwind sail back.
A weather forcast only micheal fish could be proud of, saw the westerlies become southerlies and the sunshine become rain!
so we decide to make the most of sailing in the rain, as the only other place we could go was the supermarket!
Welcome to Cactus sailing where we are sailing the uk, and sailing uk waters, This season we’re heading west to the scilly isles but in future we hope to go sailing and travel further to France or Spain.
Our true ambition is to go sailing around the world cruising along the way in our sailing boat, although our boat might not be up to getting to the Mediterranean (for our comfort levels anyway)
To that point we may change the Bavaria 30 in the future for a bluewater sailing yacht or a liveaboard boat which we can live full time.
But for now the English channel is our ocean and sailing the pacific can be left to other sailing yachts like la vagabonde, we will stick to the south coast sailing until we follow in many others footprints.
This sailing vlog and this season you will see our life on board namely boat life in our tiny floating house as we avoid the storms and go off cruising the uk south coast which isnt quite blue water cruising but the tides and winds sure make for a challenging ride!

Yes we just need to be allowed to sail there and stay overnight on a boat when the rules relax, we can't wait!

Hi Guys. I'm really enjoying your videos. My wife and I are new to sailing!!! We've just bought a Beneteau Oceanis 343 Clipper. It was at Lymington and we moved it yesterday to Port Hamble with some help. We now need to learn to sail!!! All the best. Daryl

Congratulations to Daryl and his wife. We did exactly the same the day before lockdown and bought a Sun Odyssey 39i. Moved her from the Hamble to Haslar Marina once Marinas re-opened. After 30+ years away from it, we now learning to sail again. Enjoying watching and learning from Cactus Sailing, keep it up guys 😏

Hey guys good to see you back again, like the fender cover, can you give details of where you got the material ? Also did you manage to sort out your over heating with the engine?

dave Stewart well I don’t want to jinx it but we had a decent motor sail while heeled over the other week and it was fine! We got our material from the local haberdashery (shopping local ;)) but they sell it online eBay etc, “elastic tubular fabric” just need to find the right size for your fenders and ensure its UV resistant otherwise it will fade

I got that one from a local material shop, but most fabric shops or even eBay should have something similar, they're about a year old now and have been through some storms and still look great!
