Not many elm left around here, but it burns fairly well, the ash is way better, and comes down dry enough to burn in a pinch.

Ah yes, its that time here too😂 we don't have elm or ash but we do have dynamite willow ( so named because when a branch breaks in a storm or when you are felling it, or burning it, the wood splinters and sounds like a stick of rock blasting powergel going off 😬) and black poplar which is a introduced north American tree. They split easy but don't last long in a fire and i gotta cut 8 CORDS before it gets cold again. Fortunately you get a better burn if the woods green between 28-25 % moisture so it drys really fast, within 6 weeks. Great to see so many helpers i gotta do mine mostly by myself 😂

Nice load of wood, my dad burned wood so we cut trees down for people for free just for the wood, we were cutting a huge tree down probably around 6 foot in diameter, next to a house the guy wanted to save the house but if it feel on it he didn't care, it was empty, so we hooked my uncles pickup to it with chains to pull it down to make sure it didn't hit the house, he had to back out into the street and just as he was supposed to back up he had to stop because a guy stopped to watch the tree fall right behind him, the tree fell the correct way but the tips of the branches him my uncles pickup😂😂😂

Well Good Morning Micah McGie! Could you even imagine that with all that fine lumber jacking and wood splitting activity in this video, well by golly be jolly because the first half of January is already long gone!! I do recall when the dutch elm disease came round and decimated so many avenues lined with the stately mighty elm, one little bug really caused great havoc! Just the water pouring out of those elm splits on the splitting machine, lot of life in that tree and a long term drying process as well. Y'all do have a fine crew working up their energy needs for a good ole home style dinner spread right there by the tree felling operations too. After a wonderful day of such healthy laboring is sure to bring a good solid sleep and a wake up to another Great Day!! -Bob...

My goodness yes! We have copious amounts of hither and a fair to middlin amount of yon! But a right smart amount of folk don’t give two hoots either way! To expand a bit…… the ash wood goes into the stove and the only thing left after the heat dissipates is smoke and ash…….the ashes go hither as the smoke goes yon! So next time you hear the folks down in the globular warming camp say something about greenhouse farting being the source of all our problems. Just tell em that you recon the real issue is Mcgie and his ash done smoked up everything from hither to yonder and there’s nothing they can do about it!
