When I found your channel I was 11 and i'm now 16 so i'm probably one of your younger viewers. You got me interested in woodworking so I wanted to try my hand at it, well I asked my grandfather to help with these projects. He has been making wooden bowls for very long and he taught how to do it (it was really bad) sadly, he got cancer and since he is sick and he can't really work with me anymore I continue to make wooden bowls for him. He loves and they make him so happy, seeing him happy makes me happy of course. Finding your channel as brought my family closer thank you

I love the execution. I think maybe the reason you don't like the design of the board is because the hard, art-deco angles don't match the organic contours of the butter knife.

I haven't watched this episode yet, I'm still working my way through your chainsaw tips, axe sharpening methods and your antique tool reviews (ALOT of good material, mind you) so I'm not to your most current material to date. I wanted to comment here and say that something you mentioned in the closing of your "How To Build A Bridge Over A Creek For A Tractor 6", it struck me like a bolt of lightning. I too, am critical, sometimes harsh with my 10 year old daughter. She lives with me being her father, and her step-mother also, her best friend. I was raised by an iron hand, not without love mind you, but there was no excuse for failure if you didn't give it your all. You are tough on Jack, but I imagine that you see the similar results I see in doing so. I see the growth of respect and discipline. Your mention of prayer and faith that we are guided by something greater than ourselves was very much heartfelt. Please keep up the great content, and I enjoyed hearing your opinion on the matter. Thank You.

Great video Cody. For anyone confused. This is not a cutting board. This is not for cutting raw food. It is more of a presentation and serving board. Bread is dry. The butter goes on top of the bread then into your mouth. You don’t need to worry about the common problems with a handmade cutting board.

Such a great first project for someone who’s just getting into woodworking. I have been doing it on and off since I was 9. But that’s mostly because in sweden it’s a mandotory subject in school from ages 9-15. I am now 20 years old and I wish I was doing it more often then I currently am. This inspired me to get back into it.

Very nice, Cody. I agree about the scale of the handle. I imagine an additional square, the same size as a the triangle, added to the end of the triangle. The only other thing I would have done, with the hindsight of watching you go for it, is bevel all the saw cuts in the handle area to match the rest of the board. Love your work.

Great video, Cody, thank you very much! Please make more of these little woodworking projects. They are just great! The smaller one is nicer, because all the proportions are in harmony. Thickness, length and width, the size of the hole, the bevel... All about it is well balanced! Great one! May I have a little request for a video? I'd love to see your regular day, from when you wake up till you go to bed. Don't get this wrong, I'd just like to see how you work with the time during your regular day. I know most of your videos of making things from scratch, like this one and the previous one with the butter knife, are in more of an instructional manner to provide techniques and ways for the common man to build them. But on a second note, I think that many would appreciate it if you were to make these and sell them. Just a thought, but you are very good at what you do, and although many people would like the personality of their own collection and the uniqueness of their own handmade tools. I think that others would really enjoy purchasing something that Wranglerstar himself made (maybe even adding the Wranglerstar logo). Like I said just a thought. As well, I am really enjoying your recent videos, of creating new things and really enjoy the 50 tools every man needs series. Those videos makes me very anxious to save up and start my collection to say the least!

When I watched the butter knife video I was wondering if it would be necessary to apply some sort of food-safe finish to it. I would think that fats from the butter would penetrate the wood over time and start to smell. You said about putting some sort of oil on the board, would you do the same to the knife?

Given that there's not a wrong way to do this, I think the one change I'd make to this would be to put a round groove on the sides to make it easier to pick up. I also like the one without the handle. Maybe just on the corners where the whole is, hollow out a convex shape on the two corners.

Hardwood does not necessarily mean the wood is hard or soft just like a softwood doesn't mean the wood is soft. Hardwood vs. Softwood, they are just names for deciduous and coniferous trees. Softwood has nothing to do with the hardness of the wood, it is just another name for coniferous trees or gymnosperms and hardwood is a name for deciduous trees or angiosperms.

I think I would have used a good file for the inside corners of the handle end. Also I could use sandpaper Taped tight on a hardwood stick about one inch wide. That eliminates the tendency of the sandpaper to roll the edges over. The board with the handle would look better with the handle being cut round I would think.

I think the Board you prefer would look even better if you rounded the one Corner where the Hole is. It would fit better in the Hand in my opinion. I love the feeling of making something out of wood with Hand Tools.

Hi Cody, I loved your knife video- the final outcome is beautiful. I have a question about the board - I recognise that the knife is generally known outside of Sweden as The Famous Swedish Butter Knife, but what is it about the board that makes it a)famous and b) especially Swedish? I'm not purposefully being pedantic - I d really like to know what the crack is; what parts of the design assigns those attributes? Thanks:)
