What you made is called "karaage," It's usually made with chicken thighs (though breasts are fine too. Just gets too dry sometimes) and marinated in garlic, ginger, sake, mirin, and soy sauce. Then you coat it with potato starch (or corn starch). You're supposed to double- fry it, which is frying at a medium- low heat for a few (I usually go for 10) minutes, rest the meat so it cooks inside, then fry it again at a high temperature for up to two minutes. the result is you get a crispy brown crust and a juicy interior that beats Chick Fil A's nuggets in juiciness and crispiness. It's really good IMHO.
