Making Techno with Push 2 only 🔲

Музыка

In this long video I'm making a Techno sketch from scratch using only Ableton Push 2 and I'm not using any third party plugins.
All the samples I use are from Drum Essentials Pack by Ableton.
Hope you'll learn something new 🙃

Push 2 is pretty powerful... Remember that the original techno records were made with super basic equipment. It's interesting to see Yan's workflow though.

Tank you so much! This video is a key point for me finally using my push 2. It's bringing forward my "just playing around and having fun" (what is the main purpose) closer to maybe after years finally getting a first kind of fnished track or sth to play around with :D we'll see ... but therefore im asking you if you could add a second video in which you arrange this into a small set with build ups, sfx , automation, riser, etc. using only push 2. Obviously in a stripped-down version, but what enables one to play around and getting lost even more. One of the best videos out there and a perfect blueprint for people who wanna have fun with making electronic music. Im deeply thankful for this!

Cool video! I just wonder, I got my push like a 6 months ago, and I was really surprised about the quality of the knob encoders. They have uneven tightness and some of them are even wobbly. Is this your case as well?

  • @PhilippEmilHerrmann

I found the same.. but it hasn't changed with use and doesn't seem to impact accuracy. Slightly annoying though given the quality and finish otherwise.

@@PhilippEmilHerrmann I've worked with multiple Push 2 units and they've all had this problem with some of the encoders, it's really a shame that they still can't get this right in the manufacturing process since it's already being manufactured since 2015

I don’t expect you to have an MPC One. but only using that, I am still not finding my self satisfied with my sound design on my analog hardware clones, specifically my 909 is solid but my rumble is mediocre, and my 303 riffs aren’t feeling distorted but clear and spacious. Any hints or universal techniques I should be following? I had no issues in Ableton but dawless with the MPC is being much more difficult.

Yes, but making music is not about timing, I think, it's about enjoying the process and having fun and often the mouse+keyboard is no fun at all, this is why the Push exist, a physical instrument that can inspire to create 🙂

This would be better with some form of commentary, explaining what you are doing. This could be text on the screen or spoken. It doesn’t need much, just an outline of what is happening.
