When I first encountered a reaper I heard it roar,ran away the thought "Nah imma go scan it" then got out my seamoth to collect loot. It jumpscared and one shot me,I stared screaming,went to pause but pressed the home button on my controller and fell out my chair,all while my brother was staring at me like I was crazy.

yea, now that i figured out how to do console commands i can't stop toggling fog (but then again, i AM playing with reapers in the grassy plateau/kelp forest, and near the floating islands

The reapers move so fast, watching that number steadily going up up only for it to slow down and then stop and then slowly start to go down down down, picking up speed, double digits spinning down faster than you can count as the roar sounds, 70 to 60 to 50 before the sound is over, 40 to 30 to 20 in silence as you realize that there's nothing you can do. at that point, I would rather just die by surprise.

Even if you did remove all the reapers and everything hostile and told me i would still be scared because I have already been given PTSD and have been scarred for life.

That's the beauty of Subnautica: even when you theoretically should have nothing to fear, due to there being no hostile spawns in the area you're traveling through, the atmosphere still puts you on edge and terrifies you.

I never thought the ghost leviathan was scary, I always thought it was really cool with its lore, glow, and unique design and sound. It's also cute in a way I can't quite put into words. Also hover fish is probably the cutest fish in my opinion, no offense to cuddle fish lovers, that's the 2nd cutest.

tbh, having a ghost leviathan come out of literally nowhere in my first time going to the deep grand reef terrified me, it didn't help that when i went back and mustered up the courage to scan it, i found out that it was a JUVENILE

the ghost fish is a cute uwu kiss bean, ripe for hugging. But when I dove off the edge of the crater because I didn't hear the dead zone warning, I'm not going to pretend like looking up and seeing the ghost Leviathan didn't make me cry.

When you went to all those places that had hostile creatures like jelly shroom caves it seemed very uncanny without the crabsnakes or the back of the aurora without the reapers.

Replacing all fish with fish-human hybrids works too (Fandom’s Reaper art and such, although maybe scaling needs to be done for some leviathans, a 50ft humanoid Reefback would probably be much more terrifying than a normal one)

Back in 2014 - 2017 playing the early builds, looking at how little the game used to have but then seeing what was added with every update, watching the world being actively built around you. Subnautica was such an interesting experience for me, and now thinking of how long ago that was makes me feel old as shit.

The pure terror of this game comes from the fact most of the attacks are jumpscares, especially when you cant see 5 meters infront of you, there will always be that feeling of uneasiness (take the void for example, after you remove the ghost leviathans spawns) even if you did remove the creature spawns.

You would also have to deleate all op and easily accessible plants like : watermelon ( i use that as the only food and water source ) , that one big tree , china potatoes but leave the bad ones like : that one jelly thing in lost river mushroom forest and other biomes , kelp

I have a deep, crippling phobia of the ocean- so much so that I nearly threw up gunning it to the Aurora, stayed on the surface, only dove when I had to, and had to pause on land for 10 minutes to get over the nausea. Fuck the ocean. Reapers only scare me because I hate that they can sneak up on you, and I can't handle that shit. I managed to make it over halfway through the game like this when my save was corrupted and I lost everything. I've never been able to get up the courage to try it all again, but wanted the game 100%'d. I will be using that mod. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Some areas in subnautica honestly would be the perfect place to build a base if it wasn't for the creatures. Take the lost river, or the lava pools, even a place like the dunes would be perfect since it has so much space to expand your base into.

I've found another solution - if you use console command "invisible", all hostile creatures ignore player, however they will still attack vehicles, like seamoth or cyclops. There's little mod, that changes this command, so creatures will no longer be hostile towards your vessels. They still be there, they still will make creepy sounds, but they will be passive. In addition, it removes the invincibility while using this command, so you can still die from heat or radiation, or if you swim straight into reapers mouth. So most of the atmosphere will be kept, but you won't have to be worried that something will bite your ass off

Do you think you could ever explore the old Crag fields? It's in the Early Development Build 15170 MAR - 15, and is an area around where the grand reef is filled with these creepy spider leg looking rocks that fill the seascape. Just an idea for a video if you find it interesting.

I just used my cyclops for everything even brought it into the lava zone I ran it on low and dark and I did just fine. On my first normal playthrough the lava zone didn't have the fire leviathan it was weird, it did have one in the further cavern but not where u first enter. Second run on hardcore I still rany cyclops down there just left it by the lava waterfall and just used my prawn suit for everything cuz I'd punch everything out n killed reapers with it, but not a fire leviathan I just grappled along the ceiling away from that. I've even killed a ghost leviathan with my prawn, I was in the area with all the giant skeletons and I used the skeletons as traps and killed leviathans that way. I preferred to kill them and not have to worry about them. Oddly enough I never used the missiles... I punched everything out. And would hop out n repair my prawn cuz the leviathans reliably would do wind up attacks that gave me enough time for repairs. Everytime I left the cyclops I pulled all batteries cuz for some reason the fucker would burn up all the power even if I shut it off or ran it low, so I just pulled the batteries and saved power easy peasy.

Simple Solution: Swim to the Large Island, kill all the Spider Crabs, make base, and you have an infinite source of food, water, plant-life, and a nice soothing ocean and safe waters, ignoring the deep waters and the trip to the island of course. :)

BACON THERE IS A REALLY COOL MOD THAT MAKES SUBNATICA HAVE A FINAL BOSS. It was used by socks for 1. This makes it so if you try to escape something isn’t letting you besides the Q.E.P. :)))) oh and there is 2 new vehicles ( the mods name is socknatica

So I've already downloaded mods for 2.0 Subnautica and wanted to try some legacy mods. On trying to open the game the bepinex text came up and it failed to open. Should i move the folder out of the subnautica file and then do qmod or something else?

You can keep it in but you need to make sure you have the appropriate Qmod and SML versions :)
