Some of the small detail parts might need to decide replaced on the shield often. But what you made is more than just a cosplay outfit. I love your work. One day, a dark sorcerer steps through a portal into our world with the intention enslaving us all. He finds himself in someone's home. He takes one look at all the spell tomes, including one made of metal, the potion bottle, the glowing runes, the glowing crystal, the magic staff, the magic wand, the armor, the shield... He thinks to himself "I am in the home of a most formidable magic user." Then he turns around and nopes the heck out of there back to his world. Thus ends the tale of how Nerdforge saved the world without realizing it.

looking pretty cool as always. the UV resin on the black/ purple parts give it a bit of a "bashed" look. like it was real metal hammered to fit the shape. Also love the epic music you guys use in your videos. really a warm blanket for my soul
This type of shield has two notable, _unique_ uses that I can see: *1.* The bottom of the teardrop could be sharpened like a pike as a heavy stabbing weapon or to spike the shield into the ground for stationary cover *2.* The ornate cutouts on the side would be reinforced against shear force to provide a method of trapping the sword of an enemy, allowing you to disarm them *Kind of 3.* In a magical setting, which emphatically and quite unfortunately reality is not (or fortunately depending on your faith in humanity), that large purple shield boss could be a gem enchanted to generate a surface boundary layer over the connected, mana-conductive shield metal (perhaps mithril) that allows it to withstand greater physical impacts via diffusing the force vectors outwards, or to ward off magical projectiles by way of mana dispersal or even absorption and conversion of the mana into the gem as extra fuel to maintain the barrier.
"...people in the comments get mad, and that's funny!" Love it, great attitude. Also super amazing shield! The purple bits are soooo shiny I love it! Goes so well with the armor too. Well done!
I love how you always make the moments when you wander OUTSIDE these awesome epic moments, like "Look, we're nerds, we frown upon the open air and besides we live in Norway, which is the most hardcore server, okay?" Love it 😁
The shield looks awesome, and I seriously CAN'T get over how great the armor looks. You could star as an elf maiden in the next LOTR movie!
"M'LORD!!!" "What is it now, man?" "M'lord, we just got a report in from the scouts watching our backtrail." "Yes?" "M'lord, the warrior... She..." "SPIT IT OUT MAN! THE WARRIOR *WHAT!?*" "She now has a shield, m'lord." "A shield? So what? A shield means she is at least being a *little* defensive and concerned about our archers, if nothing else." "It isn't just a shield, m'lord." "What do you mean?" "They report that it is also a punch dagger. As long as her arm, m'lord." "[censored]" "M'Lord?" "Sound the alarm; we aren't retreating fast enough. Tell the troops to drop anything heavy AND RUN!"
Those final shots absolutely took my breath away. The shield, armor, everything looks amazing. Beautiful job!

Actually have cans of sawdust by species just for that as my go to wood filler. Works best with sander bags as it’s very fine it fills cracks on flat surfaces nicely.
As somebody who makes re-enactment shields, I'd like to say that you have done a phenomenal job with this shield. I love how you are using some actual shieldwrighting techniques (such as bending the wood after gluing them together and proper shield strapping) but you also take alot of artistic liberties too, to bring the fantasy element to life. The design is beautiful and you have done an amazing job!
2:00 Now, you have an AWESOME Tower Shield! At 5:06, having worked in a professional wood shop (cabinets), I can tell you that is what we did for most small mistakes: wood filler and glue mixed with sawdust from the surface of the wood. In the end, fantastic job! Amazing for your first shield.
Nice build! Fun fact, the "hooks/holes" on the sides (the whole top part of the shield, actually) can actually be found on historical germanic dueling shields from the XVth century (look for the Talhoffer Fechtbuch for some examples), so the design is more historical than you may think! It may be seen as an hybrid of the germanic dueling shield and the teardrop shield of the XIth-XIIth century. Although, for practical use, it would be better to replace the straps by a single vertical handle running the whole length of the shield (with the added advantage of not having you elbow sticking out of the hole). Keep up the good work!
It's sooo satisfying to watch when it becomes 'metal'. The end result is really awesome!
I love how excited she gets when she's "almost done" halfway through a project. Nerding out for sure. it's awesome. If you didn't have this kickass youtube channel, you could be making a killing on the prop scene for movies.
When the wood first came out of it mold, I could almost hear The Medatron scream no don't cut that its perfect! It woudl have been a perfect Roman Shield.
I love the entire look coming together with the shield. You look like you steped right out of a fantast realm. Well done can't wait to see what you do next

But on the other hand im very adhd and very nitpicky about my own stuff that I unintentionally start telling people whats wrong with my stuff that you cant actually see.
This is honestly so amazing... My first sheidk was essentially just the back of a washing machine, with a door handle and leather strap. Along with some random paint design in the front. My second was made of wood (mainly made it to be the counterpart to my wooden sword) and also made of foam, and it turned out decently, although kids wish it was more curved. As a hobbyist weaponsmith and -carver, I must say, that is one sexy shield you got there! It's like a slim kiteshield with cutouts. Those cutouts COULD maybe be used to hook weapons or stuff aside if your character has some insane speed/strength... not only that, but it's pretty well made. The only thing that might be useful next time is to add a layer of fabric that's glued on to the wood, to give it extra strength and make it more like a IRL shield. Outside of that, very well done!

The shield is so beautiful and detailed that I can only imagine a knight in battle begging to the foe "oh please, spare my shield, stab me instead"
A shield with that shape is not only used for protection. With the right handling weight, plus hardness, and sharpness coming into play the pointy end can be a viable weapon. In that respect, the design is good enough for the the purpose it could serve, fantasy or not.
What do you want for your birthday? Martina: clamps, I need more and more clamps

Someone watches shad..
Someone: this shield is not proteccct! Martina *grabs this shield*: yes. It's atacc! 'Cause its magiccc! Bonk!
I think the spearmen carry similar sbields as Gil-galad, though less detailed. By far my favourite type of shield. Recognised it immediately when I saw the thumbnail. Love it! 💜
Wow. I just found this channel this week and have been watching so many of these videos but this is the first one that just made me say "wow" aloud. Well done in every regard.
...and suddenly a loud, dark voice came out of nowhere and said "Well done, Warrior Princess of the Ages. Now go and fullfill thy fate!"
"the countless stars of heaven's field were mirrored in his silver shield"
I loved this project. even the armour project of yours, foresten, dette er så tøft, elsker det dere driver med her på KZread, takk for at dere lager så fine prosjekter :)
That's 🛡️is making a call to my soul. So many details and so freaking breathtaking. And with the armor, uhg in love.
this channel fuels my RPG Addiction
I’m a geologist, but I have a side business making custom furniture.....I’m amazed that she makes such a realistic looking product out of layers of 1/4 inch plywood and skillfully applied paint. This is very cool!
these videos are so cool to watch, love how much detail you put into these!!❤
Let’s see: Armour and Sword ✅ Staff ✅ Magic potions ✅ Shield ✅ All you need is a furry sidekick and you’re ready for a fantasy adventure!!! (Remembers you have cats) Never mind, let the quest begin!!! ⚔️🛡
The holes would be good for hooking onto an arm or leg to temporarily restrain an opponent. No idea if that would be worth it but it looks cool as heck
You’re such a genuine open minded person with a powerful imagination I love you’re creative ideas keep it up your inspiring me
Lovely detail and beautiful result, would have been a nice touch if the backing of the shield was black felt but amazing!
For her first shield she did a great job, from a woodworking perspective she did really great in bending and adding the details to hide it's wooden
I’m so impressed you kept your jumper stain free lol if I did that in a light coloured shirt it would be covered haha
There is little better about an awesome project than a project that has more you can add to it!
That finished product and vibe is frigging gorgeous
I feel like you can make that a protective shield just making it a smidge wider, then the holes could serve a similar purpose to the hook on a sai, catching the blade and snapping it, leaving your enemy disarmed
