Clear acrylic can be cut and engraved with the proper setup in a diode laser. I do it all the time.

I'm not even sorry. It's seriously one of my favorite hobbies now apart from sewing handbags. I have a lot of fun with these projects!

What kind of wood do you use for signs?

I just use birch plywood for larger signs. If it’s smaller like the one in this video, I can easily snag maple or hickory.

I purchased a lot of 200 slate coasters out of China for 26 cents a piece even with freight, they were still only 60 cents a piece! Alibaba!

YES! I've heard of this! I haven't taken the plunge on it yet only because I know there will be some that come in shattered. I use Aliexpress and Alibaba for a lot of bulk sewing supplies though.
