Cutting simulated MDF Shaker Style Doors on the Stepcraft Q.408 CNC machine using the AMS-262 all linked below. To clear the majority of the waste I used the RC-2254 1-1/4" diameter insert carbide surfacing bit.

RPM: 18,000
Feed Rate: 150ipm
Plunge Rate: 75ipm
Stepover: 70%
Depth per pass: .2"

I then switched out for the 46200-K 1/8" Spektra™ coated downcut bit to clean up the edges.

RPM: 18,000
Feed Rate: 60ipm
Plunge Rate: 30ipm
Depth per pass: .125"

I then switched out for the RC-1108 60 degree insert carbide v-bit to create a chamfer and sharp inside edges.

RPM: 18,000
Feed Rate: 60ipm
Plunge Rate: 30ipm

I switched out for the 45408-3 InPresta 3 flute 1/4" diameter bit to cut the profiles.

RPM: 18,000
Feed Rate: 350ipm
Plunge Rate: 350ipm

I bought a quality MDF and paint, painted very well.
I got the 1/4” shank set. Absolutely love it!!
Great idea to kit these tools! Great marketing idea.
Very good 🙏👑
what kind of mdf sheets do you use or is it hdf and how do you go about painting them
Thanks for the video. Do you have to do a secondary pass on the back side to make room for the hander hardware?
Muy bien
What spindle do you on your stepcraft?
Where can I get one?
Where can I buy this machine?
I want purchase this one
How long did it take to do the 12 shaker doors?? The cutting process that is
What kind of bit did you use for cutting?
Hi, I’m from Malaysia, would loved to know more about this machine. Please email me the details, quotation etc.. thankyou in advance
Fun Fact: MDF dust is the devil’s dandruff.
What is the model of this machine, I have tried to search for it on the toolstoday page
Ultra fast, ultra cheap? 😅
Curious how you going to treat the MDF to avoid fuzz. Keep the videos coming!

A lightly abrasive brush attached to a drill works pretty well.

More specifically what kind of solvent. I’ve had troubling results with MDF and exposed areas when you cut it. It soaks in primer and paint leaving a pretty bad finish.

Use HDF for a better painted finish. For outside edges on MDF, either edge band or coat with thin layer of drywall compound and sand.

@@Eric-yx1gs That's what I'm doing on a job right now. It works.
are these doors durable after you seal and paint them? I have a 30x30 CNC, so I would be carving doors while building the cabinet, I want to use MDF but I want them to be able to hold up over time, the finish would be unmatched if I go this route

correction, I would be carving one door at a time.

Durability is good. Check out "The London Craftsman" they only use MDF. Also, while your small CNC is doing 1 door you can be cutting the base or prepping the prior door you did. Seal with Shellac, sand and paint. Experiment a bit.

@shannonp4037 that's awesome man, I'm building a kitchen ( a small kitchen) and I have a 30x30, so I'll be running my cnc as a second employee and charging it out as such haha . And yes that's my thoughts exactly, I'll be building the cabinets while the doors are being carved. What about warping? And suggestions to help avoid warping down the road ?
