Making Lightweight Fiberglass Tubes for Model Rockets
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Making your own fiberglass airframe tubes for model rockets can be surprisingly simple, but there is a learning curve. In this short tutorial presentation you'll learn how to fashion your own custom composite tubes in a variety of sizes from lightweight fiberglass cloth and laminating epoxy. While the techniques presented here are great for both sport and competition model rockets, they are especially relevant for those needing non-standard tube sizes for creating accurate scale models.
This video was first presented as part of NARCON 2022, the annual technical conference of the National Association of Rocketry.

Very good video. As an aside: I used to work in the Rockets & Space Group at Bristol Aerospace…makers of the Black Brant.
For a second I thought Tom Hanks was narrating this video.

Now that you mention it 🤣🤣🤣
Great video showing this process. Good stuff. Thanks for sharing.
Very Nice and simple tutor video
Sanding fiberglass without long sleeve shirts is itching powder waiting to happen.
Do you have a recommended mandrel for 13 mm tubes? I'm specifically looking to make S1B stuffer tubes. I can find 17/32 in aluminum tubes on McMaster and maybe that's adequate. I also do have access to a lathe and could make a 13 mm tube if it comes to that, but I'd rather just order something. Thanks.
Is it strong? Can I use it for a speargun

Sorry, these tubes are not strong enough for that application.
