Other wordless picture books I like: Pancakes for Breakfast by Tomie dePaola, Red Sled by Lita Judge, and Rainstorm by Barbara Lehman!
I just started Teaching Inferences last Friday, I saw THIS!!👌😊 Thank you Susan it came just on time for me. I bought the Chalk book and I love it.
Went from teaching high school Social Studies to teaching middle school ELA! Totally using all this - yes, even with the "big" kids! Thank you so much!!
I used some of the lessons from your comprehension snippet last year. I loved the simple way you explain inferring and the pictures you use to begin teaching the concept. Thank you!!
Thank you so much! What a great set of lessons for Kindergarten/one
The Red Sled is another awesome book (it does have text - but fun sound words ).
This is a great video, thank you so much! I am a pre-service teacher in Australia and your knowledge has been very helpful. Thank you!
Great ideas Susan!!! Thanks!
Susan, that sounds so nice -- however, my students are never cuddled, much less taught to read by a grandparent or older person. The cake sure made me laugh. Most of my fourth graders have never had a birthday cake. In fact, one of the questions that require inferences that are normal for most Americans are beyond their comprehension. Take this one, "The family buys tickets at a place they can buy soda and popcorn. What are they going to do?" Nobody in the class had ever been to a movie theater. 🤷
Susan, i absolutely love your videos!:) Your voice is beautiful and encouraging to teach in a funny way1 If I can say that-:) Thank you so much for sharing your excellent ideas!
This is great! Would you share the anchor chart "What is an Inference?" at 1:08 in the video?
