Isn’t he privileged, I’ve lost both my parents, my mum passed last October, she was 93 and I miss her every day. Thank you so much, your comments AE always such a boost to me, and a pleasure to read. Hiya Lynn, I loved your video with the pea & ham……..I make this & all I do after I’ve soaked the peas overnight, is bung them - rinsed - with a chopped onion & my ham hock (or joint) on top.Add water to cover peas cook high for about an hour then down to medium for 4-5 hours. The peas will have broken up & the ham can be taken out & shredded - fat removed of course - then ham just put back in with the peas & ready to eat. I’ve bought my hocks (spelled ‘hough’ i think) in Morrisons. Saves messing about with another pan 😉😘🌻

Hi Lynda, sounds delicious, I’ve never used hocks, but I might get some and give them a go. I did it on the slow cooker to try and cut down on energy, but I’m not even sure that it makes a difference. I think next time I’ll do on the hob, but isn’t it a nice winter warmer soup ❤️❤️❤️

Looks so good! I love ham and pea soup. I use a mousse for curly hair and just scrunch my hair and let it dry on its own. I have my dads curly hair. I used to hate it but as I’ve gotten older it’s so easy. Thanks dad!❤

Hello lovely lady 👋 thanks as always for sharing your delicious recipes. I love those marrowfat peas especially with a steak pie dinner, a tradition in Scotland at new year. Soup looks amazing and delicious 😋 i always make my soup now in slow cooker. Low and sliw is definitely the way to go lol. Pj's look so warm and cosy, winter's definitely set in now brrr. Soup looks yummy 😋 I’m with you Lynn on retirement age, I worked full time for 42 years then covid hit and I was made redundant. I was just short of my 60th birthday I could have just retired but no still got another 7 years to go. It boils my blood it really does! Oh Lynn love your vlogs and will try the pea and ham soup. I use my slow cooker quite a lot, once you have prepared veg it can be left and you have a ready meal/casserole etc. Can't believe you bought no 80 lipstick, so I went and got one too, thought it a bit dark so I got no 15 yesterday and yet to try out. Can't wait for your next adventure. Take care x

Totally agree Lynn I was planning to retire at 60 as my husband is a bit older than me and it got taken away. It’s unfair I have friends that have retired and I’m still at work. But I am lucky I love my job and I do part time now but it’s unfair 👀😳

Hi Lynn, you did make me chuckle when you were talking about pensions. I've got 2 more years until I can get mine but I bet they move the goalposts again before then. I gave up work 4 years ago due to fibromyalgia so I'm a kept woman at the moment (A bonus of marrying a toyboy!!!!!) That soup looks gorgeous, I'm no cook but I think I'll give it a go. Hi Annette, they really did their best didn’t they, but you can very rarely win against a government that has no scruples, or respect for elderly people. Glad you liked the soup though ❤️

Soup looked tasty, I I will try that. I am retired now but feel sorry for the younger generation, in total I worked 52 years but I stayed on part time for a couple of years after I got my pension and benefitted me a wee bit as you don’t pay national insurance when you reach retirement age if you chose to keep working. Looking forward to seeing the next haul, you are a natural, I feel I am in the same room as you❤

I was fortunate to get it at 60, and I agree with you it’s our generation of woman who got shafted. In our teens and twenty’s we didn’t get equal pay with men. Other EU countries let woman retire at a younger age.

@@Nanna-M Lynne, navy beans are small hard white beans. You soak them the same as the peas, rinse then add to the ham and simmer for hours. Add onion, some people add chicken broth. Lots of salt and pepper. Must serve with corn bread and butter!❤️🌺

Mine moved to 67. All my retirement plans for finishing at 60 were set up to be financially affordable with state pension. So even though I have very poor health with a degenerative disease of nervous system, I have to do another seven years in pain.

Could you cook the peas in the slow cooker at the same time as the ham and then just fish the ham joint out then shred into the pea soup.

Growing up in Liverpool we called it pea soup even though it was cooked with ham shank and split peas. My mother served it with boiled potatoes, to fill us up I expect!

Hi Lynn, you are so funny. How is it we go to the supermarket for 1 thing and come back with all sorts. Know what you mean about wondering how you found time to work, retirement can be busy😅. My husband was really handy about the house, like yours. Although not a tradesman, he had worked on farms, building sites and many other manual jobs, and would do all jobs around the house even electrics, except re-wiring. He had to retire a couple of years early due to his health. How the government expects people who have done very physical jobs to work until they are 70, I do not know. They all work until they are into their 70's and 80's but their work isn't physical. I managed to get my pension at 60, (I'm in my late 70's) but like you, young at heart. Love to you❤❤

Every time Jean, every time. I love being retired, I really do. Can do loads of stuff now that I had no time for before. We have both been lucky then with our hubbies, in that respect, I can say I want a shelf, and before I know it, I’ve got one. Most of them fall asleep, it’s pathetic. Need a kick up the bum they do. Hi Karen, no not really, frozen peas wouldn’t be as nice, the dried peas are like marrow fat peas, dry different, but for a cheat you could used tinned mushy peas, put 2-3 tins in your liquid after you’ve cooked your ham …….oh I can’t pass the clothing bit without looking, it would give me palpitations haha 😂 sofa shoppings dangerous, but fun lol ❤️

Although I knew years before that I wouldn’t receive my state pension until I was 62 it still stung a bit thinking I’d been ‘done’ out of two years. At least my husband received his state pension when he was 65, now men have wait a bit longer.

Hi Lynne I worked as a nursery assistant for some years but had to give up for health reasons, but I worked with 2 women that where reaching 60 and they were finding it hard to do a full week so I don't think you could do it in your 70s the government don't think about this when they come up with these ideas. I do ham and pea's pudding in my slow cooker but to make the pea's pudding think I put into a pan and it comes out great. Will be trying the soup soon just need to get the peas thanks for another great video ❤❤❤

Oh I feel so sorry for people, I really do, I found it so hard running round, my legs used to kill me, they really did. I honestly don’t think they care anymore, look after themselves, it’s a disgrace. Yes I think the peas in the pan will be quicker ❤️

The only benefit of working longer since 2016 is that your pension is about £50 more per week than ours who retired at 60.

@@Nanna-Mputting a stock cube into the slow cooker with any meat, I think, makes the meat softer I also put a sheet of foil over the top before the lid and that reduces your cooking time especially if you’re doing a pulled pork. Loving your videos ❤
