My father was a cobbler & he would hand make shoes for some customers. Dad died in 2015, but this is all so familiar to me, the smell ,sounds and tools. Thank you for sharing.

The Kobler, a missing craft and very important service in our society. We don't manufacture long lasting items that could be repaired.

Terry you spend most of your time cutting corners without ever cutting a single corner. Magnificent work you are the essence of the word craftsmen and i am so grateful that you go to the effort to share with the audience. THANK YOU .

I'm always impressed by the amount of work that's put into the "test-fit" pair of shoes; only to be cut up to check fit before the real pair are made.

And think that those test-fit shoes are actually way better than almost any comercial shoes 😅

This side by side with mass production of shoes would be interesting. I respect this man's patience and attention to details in his work. It's methodical and is a pleasure to view.

Question from someone who knows nothing about bespoke shoes. Wouldn’t it be easier to sink customers feet into some sort of resin, get their mold, on you have the soft mold, let the customer pull out their feet, fill those mold with harder resin and work with that to create the shoe? Any information would be very much appreciated

its a good thing he traced around the guy's foot just to use an off the shelf last. You wouldn't have to waste time making a shoe and cutting it apart on his foot if you just made a plaster cast of his feet like Italian bespoke cobblers do

I'm guessing each pair is from a custom pattern. I have seen videos where a high-end bespoke maker (I think in Denmark?) makes a custom wooden "last" for each customer, which they keep in-house for any future orders from said customer.

My OCD gets triggered every time Mr. Kim pounds nails with his lasting pliers. In my mind, I would use the "peen" built into the pliers, rather than the jaw.🤔 I've never made shoes, though.😏
