Gypsum has a tendency to absorb water, so you need to seal

It's easier to get the gypsum out of the mold when i use soap water

I would like to know that too? To slip out easily I guess. I was thinking of oil but I guess gypsum absorbs oil. Right?

I tried this but after letting it dry overnight it i tried to take it out of the mold and when i barely touched it it broke and turned back powdery. Am I using the wrong kind of gypsum?

MAYBE your gypsum went bad, not well stored, or you made it too watery
