Y'know with all those PSAs and Education films that came up around the fifties and sixties, I'm surprised something like _How It's Made_ wasn't a thing back then.

Seeing these films I can't help but think of Mister Rogers. He was the age to be in the target audience for thee films. I wonder if he was fascinated by them and that's what gave him the idea to show factories in his program. I watched in amazement those segments back in the mid 70's!

I wish they still made single pane wood windows for houses. They are so beautiful and give a nice effect when pondering a view. They won’t allow them to be made or installed where I live because they are inefficient. Some old houses still have them in the neighborhood. But I’m sure in time they will be replaced with the awful modern style void of character that a wood paned single glazed window has. A shame imo

You can still get single pane glass. It's actually quite a bit cheaper then double or triple pane glass. But there is a good reason everybody switched to double pane glass, you loose more heat out a tiny single pane glass window then a huge wall with proper insulation. Do your energy bill a favor and don't get single pane, it's a garbage product compared with the modern stuff.

You can certainly get a double paned wood window. Not sure what the downside is.

@@johnnyrabenold6133 The profile of newer windows is not the same, nor does it evoke much of anything compare to wood windows. Its a sheet of double and triple glass between engineered, wood, vinyl or steel. Old wood windows are a craft of carpentry, not prefabricated by machines. Newer ones are void of real putty and wood muntins between panes. I live in a 1940s GI house and the only window I haven’t replaced with newer ones (which are soul less in comparison) is the bay window in the living room. Its the only window I enjoy looking out. I get countless comments on how beautiful it is. It’s timeless. Some of the old glass pieces are distorted by gravity over the years, so it makes each view out of it look that more special. Just my opinion of course. And I agree they are not energy efficient. But that’s what heavy drapes and blinds are for. 😂 Happy 4th 🇺🇸

@@larkatmic Drapes and blinds are just not a proper substitute for modern windows. It cost my parents about five grand to upgrade the house to modern ones and they got all that money back in less than a decade.

Here's the issue: Tens of thousands of films similar to this one have been lost forever -- destroyed -- and many others are at risk. Our company preserves these precious bits of history one film at a time. How do we afford to do that? By selling them as stock footage to documentary filmmakers and broadcasters. If we did not have a counter, we could not afford to post films like these online, and no films would be preserved. It's that simple. So we ask you to bear with the watermark and timecodes. In the past we tried many different systems including placing our timer at the bottom corner of our videos. What happened? Unscrupulous KZread users downloaded our vids, blew them up so the timer was not visible, and re-posted them as their own content! We had to use content control to have the videos removed and shut down these channels. It's hard enough work preserving these films and posting them, without having to spend precious time dealing with policing thievery -- and not what we devoted ourselves to do. Love our channel and want to support what we do? You can help us save and post more orphaned films! Support us on Patreon: www.patreon.com/PeriscopeFilm Even a really tiny contribution can make a difference.
