Making Fire in the Rain
Raining in the forest. In a recent video I tried to start a fire when everything was wet. Here I do it again but with a different approach. Take a look to see how it worked out! And enjoy listening to the relaxing sound of the rain falling.

A pine stump, 1 match and patience.
I don't think I fully grasped the meaning of 'tranquility' until I found this channel. So many elements; Erik's voice, the sounds of the rain and nature, the almost ritualistic process of collecting the material for the fire. the satisfaction of the slow progression from smoke and tiny flame to warming fire, and finally the coffee making and enjoyment of it. All of these elements assemble together to create such a serene tranquility. Wonderful to experience on a nice Sunday morning. thank you, Erik.

Holy Moment. Water, Air, Earth, Wood + Fire (and some added coffee).
My favourite teacher . Simple but the most pure pleasure in how minimal you need to be to take the time to appreciate nature
Sunday morning with Erik. Holy moment!
What a beautiful forest. The colours, and the rain so peaceful. Thank you.
Thank you for a beautiful start in the sunday morning 👍
Sound of rain, a cup coffee by your own fire, bright moss greens... very relaxing. Thankyou Erik. 🇭🇲🐞 Qld Australia

Wonderful rainy day in the forest. Thanks.
This is 5 star material ,, 2 thumbs up. Thanks Erik. Bushyboy Oz.
You lit the fire with one match.. I would have used half of the box. Lol Nice vid as always. Makes me miss home..
You are an expert. One Matches.
👍👍👍 Well worth a triple thumbs-up 😊. One each for the fire, coffee and last but not least, the share. Thanks Erik!
I love you videos, they radiate peace.
A doubly Holy Moment--coffee in the autumn woods, the colors, the sound of the rain--and well dressed for the rain.
Fat wood. Fire in the rain. Coffee. A film worthy of two thumbs up Erik. 👍🏻👍🏻
So good seeing you up and about again mate. Comfy videos.
The beautiful forest, gentle rain and coffee. One of life’s special moments. Thanks Erik!
Candle and aluminium foil help lot to get start. Kindles on folded foil get rain cover and heat by reflection. Candle is oil in solid form.
Loved the sounds of the rain and the crackle of the fire!
Tusen tack, Erik 😍
I was just thinking that whenever Erik goes into the wild he is always accompanied by one of his best friends: that grizzled old coffee pot. They've seen some mileage together, eh?
That is by far the most impressive fire lighting skill and Holy coffee moment you have ever brought to us! Much appreciated from deepest Dorset 👍
Another great Video 👍 thanks Eric
Excellent. Thank you
So good . Thanks Erik .
Thank you for sharing, Erik. Cheers

WOW this one snuck up on me without notice!!! What a pleasant way to end a weekend, The sound quality really stood out on this Erik. It brought me back to some of my fondest memories. Ya that fat wood will burn every time.
OMG you lucky fellow .... those woods !!!!
That was one hard earned cup of coffee, enjoyed all the more for it i would say.
Great demo of starting a fire in the rain. Something everyone should learn Beautiful forest and with the rain… looks vibrant Take care 🇨🇦❤️🍁🍂🔥

That was impressive.
Amazing
You gonna go big one day, keep following your passion!
a thumbs up back at you Erik a very relaxing video:)
Thank you :-)
I set fire to the rain!
Ah, the pleasure of a cup of strong fresh coffee on a rainy day.
Thanks for the upload 👍Scotland can be really wet even in summer i use a ferro rod, magnesium rod, and rubber bike tube ps i carry matches too
I can smell the freshn air and ofcourse the coffee 😍
I liko your videos very much
Great job on the fire in the rain! Love it! It seems no one is immune to the fact that the smoke will always head straight for the camera lens 😂. I’ll point TheOutdoorGearReview guy to your channel so he can see that Trangia kettles are ok to use on a fire.😅
Alltid lika bra film!
Coffee ceremony by Erik Normark...😃
The stick gives the coffee some flavor
Hej fra Danmark :-) Great video (as allways). Could you talk a little about thoughts and gear, when it comes to rainy days/trips, common as it is for us in Scandinavia?
Fantasitskt. Sätt upp ett tält över elden och låt elden torka ut lite ved brevid.
Last time I failed because I used wet sticks that were laying around. Even a paper that I brought with me didnt help. Thanks for advice!
I sure hope your doing well!
if you bring a ferro rod you dont have to worry about it getting wet. also cotton balls + vaseline (petroleum jelly) is excellent fire starter
Nice video
Så vackert så vackert ☺️
If the wood is wet, how do you get it to burn like that? Thanks for sharing your tips!
Think I need to order some Swedish matches and patience.
Polarbröd 🙌🏻
Yet another great video Erik! Thanks a lot! May I ask what axe you’re using? Gränsfors?

Excellent! Another lovely one, Erik. Thank you. Something I’ve always wondered about, though: How is it that the little plastic knob on your kettle lid never melts - even when heated over an open fire…? (I’ve melted a couple over a low, alcohol flame…) Is yours metal?
@erik_normark
Thanks :) I guess the knob is protected where it sits on the top.

@@erik_normark thank you Erik, as simple as that. It rains a lot here so I'll do that. Thanks again take care..
Why do you use matches? Butane lighters seem more weatherproof.
👍
if you are watching his videos without headphones you are missing more than 90% of it.
I use the same technique to find kindling and firewood, but I'm missing a good axe. What type of ax do you use, brand?

Oh... haha... i thought you had to point a camera at it :D by the way... is this a re-upload?
0:23 - Spruce. "Pine" is a word, often used in place of "evergreen" like as was used here, but it's actually a spruce stump. He's in a stand of spruce so a pine would be out of place here, but the remaining trunk appearance is enough to tell, as well as the wood type when he splits it. It splits and slivers off a little differently from pine as well.
