As promised, here is another candy video back to back. Lin and Mei are joined by their new helper and candy expert, Marion, creating a design we picked from KZread comments. The most popular suggested design in KZread comments was a dog 🐕, so we decided on an Akita dog, which is a Japanese large mountain dog breed similar to the husky. The Japanese Akita is typically orange in colour, unlike the American Akita which has mixed coats in different colours. This breed became popular online because of Faithful Hachikō.
From Wikipedia: ⚆ _ ⚆
“In 1924, Hidesaburō Ueno, a professor in the agriculture department at the University of Tokyo, took Hachikō, a golden brown Akita, as a pet. Ueno would commute daily to work, and Hachikō would leave the house to greet him at the end of each day at the nearby Shibuya Station. The pair continued the daily routine until May 1925, when Ueno did not return. The professor had suffered a cerebral hemorrhage, while he was giving a lecture, and died without ever returning to the train station in which Hachikō would wait. Each day, for the next nine years, nine months and fifteen days, Hachikō awaited Ueno's return, appearing precisely when the train was due at the station.
Hachikō attracted the attention of other commuters. Many of the people who frequented the Shibuya train station had seen Hachikō and Professor Ueno together each day. Initial reactions from the people, especially from those working at the station, were not necessarily friendly. However, after the first appearance of the article about him in Asahi Shimbun on October 4, 1932, people started to bring Hachikō treats and food to nourish him during his wait.” (◕‿◕✿)
Candylabs uses an old-fashion, old world process of making candy. They use no machines (beyond a stove to boil sugars) and make the candy by hand. Their candy is made with simple ingredients and comes in a huge variety of flavours --- we recently tried Pina Colada, for example. The flavour of this dog candy is tangerine, which is a mini-sized citric fruit like an orange. It takes us the entire day to film the process and Lin is very tired by the end of it as the huge piece of candy is very heavy.

It amazes me that when they pull the big log into small tubes the design doesn't get ruined.

I think it's because no matter what you do to it, the design is 2D simply stretched length wise, so it will remain perfect on either face.

@@niazkilamx it's artisanal, handcrafted candy that's made on the spot, and it's apparent that there's a lot of work put in just by looking at the candy details, presentation, variety of choices, even with the pride of how they talk about their goods. with the amount of attention they get on youtube, you could say that there's sufficient interest - of course they could jack up the prices! it's a small business with a single location, they can do whatever they want :) have a merry christmas!

How fascinating that you can do such amazing work. I wonder who ever figured this stuff out. Beautiful work. Amazing the face doesn’t distort as you thin it down to be chopped. To me this is all mind boggling. You are all so talented, you’re just great.
Wow. It takes hours to create these beautiful candy masterpieces, but only a few seconds to eat them and... they are gone! Just like that. I appreciate all the hard work that has been put into these delicious candies. Bless all the hard workers out there, making amazing candies for people to enjoy. When we eat the candy, usually you would be thinking about how it’s gonna taste, or you just wanna to eat them (of course that’s what it’s made for), but I wanted say thank you for the hard workers out there who hand make these candies, and barley get credit or a thank you from people who eat them! They do get paid and stuff, but if someone were to just go up to them and thank them for their hard work, bet it would make their day! Just saying. I hope I don’t get hate for this for a mistake or misunderstanding in this comment... just wanna bring a thought into your mind. To appreciate everything you were given. You usual, is someone’s dream, out there! I hope all the best wishes, for whoever is reading this. Best of luck, with life! :) Sorry if I cringed you... - a fellow peep.

Its so cool watching you make the candy. Your skill in making them look like different things shows your team works as one and each person has the skill needed for the team to work. Just fun to watch and see how you put each colour in the place needed. Thank you for taking the time to show how your team skills are used to make the candy you sell.
Some much intricacy and labour goes into making these by hand 👌🏾
I asked my mom years ago how candy like this was made and she told me but it was cool to actually watch it happen. Impressive
Don’t mind me, just watching people make cute hard candies at 1 am

What
"Now we have to chop the candies one by one" Proceeds to chop 5 at once also that sound at the end was so satisfying
It must take SO much self control to not tear off a peice of the candy and eat if yourself at work. Like the slimy sugar blob looks SO good
This is incredible...what an art form! I love how the Akita looks snuggled in his 'roll' at 14:33
i got so shook when they made them small holy- wow thats amazing my dudes.

I love candy making videos, but most stress me out so much, with all the old equipment and lead paint! I love how you guys use food grade equipment!
Oh mate this is absolutely wicked!!! Great job!
What impresses me is not just how they stretch and mold the sugar, but how they know exactly how to construct the face of the dog as a cylinder without having to think twice about it :0
yes, that's the most amazing; the pulling to make the smaller candy stays in shape...lots of work no different than a great piece of art :-)
Extremely relaxing video. The making of this candy is really very hard. Good job on this one.
This is the most relaxing content in all youtube
First day of 2020 and I’m watching people make dogs out of candies
Always nice to see a new video. The pottery and guitar videos were so awesome, too. I'm sure they were a lot of work but I'm really hoping for another longer, relaxing video like these in the future. *fingers crossed*
i have went to candy labs, and it was AMAZING it is very cool to see how they make it, thank you!!!!!
Dog candy!!! Adorable AND tasty! Thanks recommendations!
This man loves his work and I respect that
Wow u guys take hours to make these candies and we eat them in seconds...... Yum
What a fab job. I couldn’t fail to be happy every day at work if I was making candy.
