MAKING AN OAK TABLE - Using Engineered Flooring
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Here is how we used some regular engineered oak flooring to build our fairly lightweight table for the campervan. This would work great in lots of projects from shelving to full dining tables and creates a very stable piece unlikely to split of crack like soild wood might.

Im glad someone else has thought about doing this.
It always makes me happy when I see the little ones being allowed to help on projects like painting and such. One of the many things I like about your channel.
One of the best channels on KZread
Very nice Tim and btw after watching so many of your videos now i can say that you are never out of your depth
I like the Vans building series more than the other stuff
Very smart and a fantastic idea to use leftovers
Looks amazing!
i envy your skills dude, great job!
Awesome table Buddy
As I've probably already mentioned in the past, I love your channel and your videos but whenever I see your workspace it kills me lol. Please do a workshop build series as your next big project!!
Thanks for this video mate, I’m going to do something similar in my rebuild but I’m going to use a ply base for the solid wood flooring to sit on. I’m going to use Bamboo flooring,it’s meant to be a little moisture resistant and its cheaper than oak lol. Thanks again mate.
Nice use of some leftover flooring Tim.... Again nice neat work - apart from the dulux cans - looked like something You'd find me doing.....
Tim, I can't help but think how much harder you're having to work when your material is moving all about. I noticed this quite a lot on the timber frame videos. You really need a stable work surface with bench dogs, inline clamps and a vise. I'm a mobile builder and use Ron Paulk's Total Station as my primary work surface. There are accommodations for a table saw, miter saw, router table, and tool and stock storage, as well as assembly. I love it! Lastly, you sir are seldom out of your depth. The table turned out beautifully. Cheers!
That came out well. I like repurposing stuff, especially when you get a great result
I loved the last 22 seconds.
Gorgeous Tim, it looks fantastic. If you don't have enough claps try using a pvc pipe cut so it claps like a letter C. Just a tip I got from another youtuber.

Ratchet straps are another good alternative for wide glue ups...
I absolutely love that t-shirt 😂
I feel your pain. Had a "wonky table saw" for years. Finally got a "hybrid" table saw for less than $1000. It was my priciest tool purchase to be sure. No regrets whatsoever. The difference in quality of the work that I can produce with it is night and day. It's made an evangelist out of me. By a proper table saw!

One day I will, I am sure the difference will be huge. 👍
Hi love the vids - just wanting to know how e floor boards have help up over the time you have used it? Any bowing etc? Want to use same idea on my van 👍🏼
very smart move man! I just received half a car full of discarded old oak engineered flooring, and my first thought was "fake oak dining table". and BAM , there you are making a small version of it. I did a few tests in using a router flattening jig to take 1mm off the boards before attaching them to remove all the wear and tear on the surface. now I´m doubting if I should to it, seeing you simply sanding it. How hard was it to sand off all the finish from the factory? also, were they new or used floorboards? thank you so much for this video, it really gave me a kick in the butt to get started on mine
awsome videos my friend
how come you have a peace of ply wood on the base of your thickness planner? i have the same one and was wondering if I'm missing a trick.

I use it sometimes when planing thinner pieces, it just gives bit more infeed/outfeed surface. Not vital but I do find it helps quite a bit.
Wonky fence, inaccurate mitres and not enough clamps. Sounds familiar!
How about some cleaning in your workshop.
Not often I'm the.first view, like and comment.
Splendidly to see Woodglut have new plans which helped me save some money and energy for this construction.
First 👍🇬🇧

Most areas were fine. Only the table bowed a little over the years. Still need to flatten by screwing some angle under it. Anywhere it was fixed down it stayed flat.

The Restoration Couple so would you recommend adding a few more transverse strips underneath to help pull it down? Also on your worktop (can’t remember) version did you add that to some ply or do the same as this table?
