@@lucent100 I think something is wrong with my fl studio cuz most tutorials told me to do that and when I do it it still doesn’t sound hard/crispy it just sounds louder but not in a good way

@@reillybeats chances are its clashing w the melody, in order for an 808 to sound best its gotta have its own space that way it can be loud asf and still sound clean. ur prolly already doing this but cut the lows and spread ur melody layers thru different octaves that way it wont be muddy, you can also sidechain the 808 to parts of ur melody sometimes it kinda helps
