I love making ambient music with the Elektron Model:Cycles. With its 6 tracks and machines, it has a lot of capabilities and making ambient music is almost like meditation for me. That's why I decided to make a series of videos showing how I use the Model:Cycles to make ambient music.
The first episode of this series was about creating drone sounds. This week, we explore two techniques to generate different types of noise. It's always interesting to use noise creatively, and ambient music is a good ground for that. The first method uses the Snare and Metal machines with certain parameters, the second a fast random LFO.
The video is split in different parts:
0:00 Introduction
0:34 First technique: "Snare" machine
2:23 First technique: "Metal" machine
2:58 Second technique: fast random LFO
4:45 Outro
5:02 End jam

You make the best M:C content by far! Please keep it up!
Make more videos, please. This is so clear and thoughtful. Great sounds. Thank you..
Good to see some love for noise. thanks for posting this and the drone ambient. In a gear decision mode and seen some very nice stuff being done with the Digitakt, but it's a huge leap and price tag. Cycles seems could be a better entry point, and certainly has a lot more potential than I first thought :)
04:24 reminds me of water running.
Fantastic series, thank you!
Hey i really like your videos, very very helpful. Keep on going!
Man, this is just so helpful. I made some music today that I really love that was inspired by some of your insights. Thank you.
That is one sweet and useful tutorial... I keep hoping for more of them if you have time :-)
I don't want to jinx it, but that is a good ratio.
Great job. Really your videos are very clear and always helpful. I subscribed to the channel. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Please keep making videos about Model Cycle 👏👏👏👏 Cheers from ITA
Excellent. I also enjoy the end jam very much. Super interesting chord progression. Will watch more of your stuff!!
some great ideas in this!
Great tutorial, the drone vid was very good too cheers.
Superb tutorials thank you Mr Tomorrow .🎉
The Tone machine will also make noise with the correct settings

Going on very low with color parameter can make it really nice noise textures
Hello, how are you? Very cozy ambiance, it invites to sleep. Enjoy!
Brilliant
NICE! THX!

Thanks 🙏 I’m sure you’ll have a lot of fun with it 😉
liking these videos, my Cycles will be in my hands tomorrow XD
Great tip. I made some nice stereo burbles with it, using two tracks panned left and right. Model:Cycles has so much potential, hidden in a small portable package. Thanks for posting this, and best wishes for your success.

Thanks a lot 🙏 I agree with you, the Model:Cycles is one of my favorite instruments, especially given its price 🙂

@@thesoundoftomorrow I'm loving mine too, and enjoying trying to get more generative, drone, and random weird noise sounds, out of it. It has a lot of interesting features, that can be used for that. Your infinite sustained note tip, is great "out of the box" thinking, that I also found useful. Looking forward to more of that kind of stuff, from you. Have a great day.
mate, you are doing a good job mate!
Hi thanks for the video, is there any other gear/synth you have used effectively to create ambient music? I've considered something like the MicroFreak but not sure if that would be very good for this.

Hi 👋 Other than the Model:Cycles, I also make ambient with the Novation Circuit + guitar sometimes. I was also thinking about buying the MicroFreak, but I would definitely not buy it as a first piece of hardware. The 6 tracks and 6 machines on the Model:Cycles will give you much more possibilities ♾
