Making agate jewelry with a stone I found in a Scottish river
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Join me on an adventure at a local river to look for agate gemstones, then see how I make a piece of jewellery with my finds,
Rockhounding, lapidary, jewelry making and nature are some of the things you will find in this video, I try to portray this in a relaxing and enjoyable way that’s interesting to watch and also informative
Do please sit back and relax as you watch the process of turning a rock into jewellery from beginning to end

Wish i was with you. I miss the UK. I live in the desert and it'll be 105 today. Or 107. Whatever. That agate is superb. Your metal work is, too. TFS ❤️🎸🏏

Thank you, and I feel your pain I used to work in the Australian desert, on a particularly hot day I watched soda cans explode when left in direct sunlight! I never experienced heat like that 🥵

Just found your channel and I absolutely love it. Where did you get your equipment? I'm just starting my journey but finding it difficult to find lapidary tools in the uk

Thank you very much 😊, in regards to equipment in the uk that’s the hard part, some of the machines I built myself not so hard with some tools and know how, some I bought second hand from searching gumtree, eBay and marketplace over the years I believe a guy called Brandon Edward’s (hint of stone) of Facebook makes a range of units for sale here in the uk. But generally the uk has a severe lack of lapidary equipment available, good tutorials on KZread of home built equipment
Ive seen a similar thing. Someone was looking for agates, and passed on a basket ball sized rock, with quarts golf balls in it.

Ahh yes this sounds like some agate nodules embedded in the volcanic host rock, some are almost perfectly round just like golf balls!

Yes this is traditional jewelry inlay
Is there a finishing polish/wax you find better than others? I’ve tried ZAM but I find it extremely hard and doesn’t give the shine.. thanks in advance, your work is beautiful!

For silver/metal I use jewellers rouge and for agate/stone I use cerium oxide, I herd zam works well for some stone but not all, I haven’t used it before
