Making a water tight conveyor body. Part 1
In this video I start to fabricate a new conveyor body.
After taking the old one in bits and realising it had seen better days, the decision to make a new one was made.
First job of making the new one was to fabricate the frame that the conveyor belt runs on. This was made from 40x40x3 box sections. End plates where cnc plasma cut out and welded on, 50x10 runners where cut, press and also welded on.
Next job was to draw and cut out the frame body. This was cnc plasma cut out of 5mm plate. The holes for the inner guides were cut out and also the holes for the belt frame. The body plates were then pressed and bolted onto the frame.
Hope you enjoyed the video.
Thanks for watching.

That new plasma table looks to be earning its keep. An interesting video, thanks Oliver.
The custom pipe work for your tractors turbo is awesome. Anyone can buy a bender and make one look factory...but where's the fun in that. Hand-made is the sign of a true craftsman. If it will work and not affect flow, then I say run her. If it sticks out of the bonnet , so what. It say's look at me. Take a look at some of the custom hot rods here in the U.S. where custom is king! You do great work.
Wow ,you are taking on some really challenging jobs. Those holes that lined up were quality engineering measurements.Well done ,looking forward to part 2.👍
Fireball tool has a nice kit now to drill out your existing table into a fixture table.
Top notch as usual from the young dude across the pond. Cheers from New Mexico
Sure impressed by your fabrication skills. The plasma table and the brake sure made this job so far.
Some nuts & bolts hardware company set this Man up , His channel is going places
I love that on the time-lapse you can see the bow developing on one side and then going back when you weld the other
Nice construction work Oliver! Yes the rainfall in this area does not stop, soon we can better use the term rainy season. A next tip might be to weld 'long nuts' to the removable frame, these will last longer than standard nuts, especially in the application in which this conveyor is used..Thanks always for the videos
Nice to see your Dad in his boilers giving you a hand , enjoy every opportunity to work with him , I learned a lot fro my Dad and he was a wonderful fellow to work with , long gone now but I still miss him. I was impressed at how easy it was for you to just decide to “ make a new one “ ok you want 10 years , nooner will give you that! Nice work as always.

I recently found your channel, and been watching allot of your videos. You are an amazing fabricator. I really like your workshop. I always find workshops set our like yours, minimal equipment, get the best engineering work done . As you grow the company you can always get more machinery. You get everything fabricated to a very high standard. I have been in engineering awhile and everything you make looks very well planned out and meticulous. Have learned quite a bit from the videos. The one thing I really like is the attention to PPE 👍. I always have to have a go at the apprentices when I teach to remember PPE.
I love my spuds. Hope it all works out in part 2. Genuine British shed engineering at it's finest.
The high speed footage is great for confirming how the metal moves from welding
Respect for what you make me the resources you have! Keep up the good work👍
i enjoy watching your videos, you can do some amazing fabrications. that conveyor looks to be fairly complex good going. you put a lot of thinking into it. waiting for part 2. thanks
When you said to weld one side it would warp but when you weld the other side it should straighten out. I watched and I could see it straightened out. Nice.
Great stuff as usual! Can't wait to see the finished product.
Regarding the axle: the reward of a job well done is more jobs that are increasingly harder.
Brilliant , as always (and good to see the gaffer pitching in !)
Incredible design and fabrication Olly. I see so many KZread sensations get free stuff, but you are truly deserving of some sponsorship, which would do companies a massive justice with honest natural and humble advertising of their products. You are becoming known around the globe for the quality of your channel, brand business, and ability

Enjoyed every minute of that, on your own with somewhat limited facilities you do a cracking job. I like your thought explanations and how you work things out for several steps ahead and show some small errors. Trust me you’ll be ever more popular with both customers and the voyeurs like me on this channel and you will get your bolt rack soon enough. Looking forward to part 2
What an amazing channel and a hello from the State of Texas!
I used to HATE 'fabbin' up in this weather, everything you touch is so bloody cold......another fine job btw
eagerly awaiting episode 2.
That was brilliant watching can't wait for part two. Well done Oliver.
I still find it quite strange that a customer can get you to make a new improved version that's better than the manufacturer sells them for and be cheaper . Nut and bolts and consumables are a headache to keep on top of with any job and the sad thing is you cant keep x amount of everything as that's just way to expensive and space consuming. Great build really love watching you do ya thing and ya in the UK.. cheers young man
this customer is the kind of customer you want to work with. not quite carte blanche, blank check but isnt pennypinching bandaid hurry up type. Ollie making it work with what equipment he has, a one man band. for recreating the trough from scratch pretty much on the fly, everything fitting up damned good
Great work as always, the farmers are lucky to have you!
A bad workman blames the tools or lack of a specific one they don't have, a great craftsman uses whatever is to hand & gets the job done & the latter is what we enjoy watching on this channel 🙂
14:57 you can see the whole thing warp from the welds cooling! Pretty cool to see that on video.
I hope the standard hourly rate apllies for cleaning the customers item so you can work on it. Like all the other subscribers we sure do appreciate you sharing your work.

I have to agree that you are superior and it is easy to follow what you do. On one of your previous vids you were making the JCB front bucket. You were not getting a 90 degree bend thru the whole length of the plate. I think the shear has a rake in the blade. Maybe only an 1/8" or so. Something to look at. Excellent craftsmanship and your welds are on par with Kurtis and Isaac.
Oliver you get some very interesting jobs to repair, Awesome video keep up the great work. From kiwi land.
Great 'Job Shop' channel Oliver, glad I found this for the variety of work and the type of projects being pushed through... Glad the client decided to remake rather than patch the old conveyer. Looking forward to the next part.
Aways injoy your videos as you make them so personal by going into the details of each job please keep the coming .
Very professional, your cutting bed has been a good investment 👍
Super like how you approached this project Oliver 👏. Thanks for sharing 👍🏻
With your tools and ability making your own welding table of any size is a piece of cake.
Excellent work as always! Careful measurements and calculations and a job well begun - and I know it will be far better than the original (even when it was new)!
Great Construction🎉
Your customers should make a much better job of cleaning stuff down for you. Having said that I'd charge them a supplementary on top of the normal price to encourage them to clean things, or to really make it really worth your while. Funnily enough I was looking at welding tables this morning, Tec Products in Thirsk, which is pretty close to you, do a whole range of tables at pretty reasonable prices.

Nice little project to test out the new plasma. Coming on good. I see the vintage tractor grapevine is working. Repair one steering pivot. More will come. You won't be short of work. The hard part is fitting everything in. Maintaining the right life balance. Don't get caught up in the working 10 hours a day. Six days a week gig. For most of your working life. Then look back at what you wanted to do. It sucks. A tip from personal experience.
Very impressive. I love that you are the concept designer, plasma programmer and welder/fabricator. You are a HUMAN SWISS ARMY KNIFE.
27:31 ceiling mounted power strip to give you a tie point above your head, away from the dirt on the floor and places where it could tangle. So much better than having it on the floor, especially in an open shop like yours.

Nice work Oliver Pity your mag drill doesn’t have an auto feed or you could set it off on your current layout table drilling 1 inch holes on a six inch grid; you’d have a layout table far superior to any table available commercially. Yes, it’s ludicrous the cost of professional/production tooling these days but you’d mak a far superior table than currently available. Time consuming I know but you could drill an awfy lot of holes for 10 - 16 grand. Great channel, you’d think after a life time of heavy vehicles production and maintenance that I’d have had my fill of the likes but I still think enjoy yours and similar (IC weld, cutting edge and on fire welding) channels. Good luck, your content is excellent, keep it up🙂.
